Review & Install Video

Hey I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, here with a great bolt on for any modified 2 valve, I’m talking about the SR Performance 75mm throttle body, fitting all 96-04 Mustang GTs. SR Performance has really made quite the impact on the aftermarket Mustang world thanks to their variety of performance and suspension components, with prices that do fit nicely into just about anyone’s budget. To see more of what SR has for your ride in addition to new and exciting products, you have to subscribe to our YouTube channel by clicking on the banner below, if you haven’t done so already. The 75mm option from SR Performance is in my opinion a great bolt on for anybody with a heavily modified or boosted 2 valve and really does compliment an aftermarket throttle intake, and intake spacer. On the other hand if you do have a stock or lightly modified 2 valve then I would recommend going with the SR Performance 70mm option instead, otherwise you might end up hurting performance rather than helping it. That’s just because a lightly modded or stock motor really isn’t moving enough air to justify the larger opening with the 75mm option. Either way, if you’re not quite sure which option to go with, you can always get in touch with one of our Mustang experts, they’d be happy to talk about your setup and make a recommendation based on your mods. Taking a closer look at the throttle body itself you’ll see it is made from a 356 grade cast aluminum, which gives it this smooth, almost polished type of finish. The throttle body does not require a tune but we do recommend running one just to get the most performance out of each mod. Especially if you do plan on pairing this up with an aftermarket upper intake plenum, and spacer like I talked about a little earlier. SR Performance does offer their version of both of those which you can find on the product page of AmericanMuscle.com by clicking on the link below. Included in the box you’ll find all the necessary hardware and gaskets needed to get the job done. The actual install itself is pretty straightforward and should only take you about an hour using some basic hand tools. You will need to transfer over the throttle position sensor from your old throttle body, to the new SR Performance throttle body but it’s only two screws and pretty straightforward. In addition to attaching the throttle cable to the throttle body. So if you’re looking for a solid upgrade to your heavily modified 2 valve or 6 then be sure to check out the SR Performance 75mm throttle body, available right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

More Power. Improve the throttle response and horsepower of your worked or Supercharged 4.6L engine with a SR Performance 75mm Throttle Body.

Precision Crafted. This SR Performance Throttle Body is made from a permanent mold casting of 356 aluminum to produce a higher quality casting than conventional sand molds, which reduces porosity for an improved finish.

Application. The SR Performance 75mm Polished Throttle Body is designed to be a direct fit replacement on the 1996 to 2004 4.6L SOHC GT Mustang. 75mm throttle bodies work great on heavily modified or supercharged GT mustangs, because stock or mildly modified GT's do not flow air enough to benefit from the larger Throttle Body.

Would this run well on my almost stock 2003 mustang gt? I have an almost stock 2003 mustang gt, I've got an offroad h-pipe and an AEM Brute Force Cold Air Intake. I just installed a short throw shifter as well. I'm in the process of modifying my mustang a little bit over time. Eventually I will get a supercharger, but that probably won't be for another year. Would this throttle body be too much for my car even If I purchase the throttle body spacer, sr performance intake plenum and intake spacer at the same time? Would it cause any problems? How much gain would I see in horsepower with this product?

Bojohn14

  • With the mods listed, I would suggest a 70mm. But since you plan on supercharging, I would definitely use the 75mm or maybe even a 78mm. The problem with being near stock and having a 75mm, 78mm, or bigger, is that your engine cannot produce the power that the throttle body is demanding, causing a sensation of being "bogged" down. So, if you have a few basic bolt-ons anything bigger than a 70mm is just an overkill. Hope this helps!

75mm really to big unless supercharged??? I keep seeing that everyone is saying that at 75mm or 78mm is too large for a naturally asperated engine. With that being said, why is it that they AM installed the BBK 78mm on their factory GT with a CAI and Exhaust (as seen in th GT power mods video). I have a JLT CAI, underdrive pulleys, long tube headers, offroad h-pipe, and flowmaster exhaust. All of this with a custom tune. Is a 75mm still too large of an TB?? just seing a lil bit of contradiction here.

  • Absolutely not, I used a 75 mm throttle body, intake elbow, cold air intake (from the fender) and an x pipe with pulleys and it transformed my 99 GT.

Will this make a noticeable difference on a 04 GT with just a CAI? I have an 04 mustang GT with mostly cosmetic upgrades besides a CAI. I was wondering if a throttle body will make a difference on my stang even though the engine is pretty much stock besides the CAI. Will this hookup to an aftermarket SR performance CAI? Finally, if it would make a difference, what mm throttle body would be ideal for my vehicle? Thank you!

samtheman2011

  • I would get the plenum and throttle body together. The upgraded throttle body with stock plenum will have some restriction. I have a cold air intake, upgraded plenum and 75mm throttle body. Its a decent upgrade ,some people believe brands make a difference, which I dont agree with. Dyno test results prove that its only one horsepower or so. I have the sr throttle body ,which installed very easily. 70mm or 75mm is fine.

So, I have read a few different responses. With a stock motor, SR performance CAI and flowmaster mufflers (stock exhaust) is the 75mm too big? Some say it causes bogging at low RPM's, other say it runs fine. No plans on going FI or anything, so which is better for a daily driver? 70 or 75mm (coupled with the SR performance plenum). And how will a tune affect anything (planning on a tuner in the near future)?

  • Hi,This SR Performance 75mm Throttle Body is too large for your build I suggest the SR Performance 70mm Throttle Body Item #41103 it is designed more for the stock or mildly modified GT Mustangs.

Question Resolved

Hello all, so i plan on modding my 95' v6 a little before i sell it for a 13' gt in December. But my throttle body broke.. i don't want to put too much money into the car as I'm selling it but i need a new throttle body of course and the 56mm is $250. 60, 65, and 77mm throttle bodies are cheaper but doesn't say itd fit. from looks its the same as a 56 but one of the AM experts told me its fine to do and put onto my v6, any ideas before i pay for it? please help!!

Bman

  • I would like to apologize for the incorrect information provided by our representative. This SR Performance 75mm Throttle Body will not fit onto your 1995 V6's intake manifold. Unfortunately, the 56mm throttle body, item # 56021, is the only throttle body which we currently offer for your year-model Mustang.

    Nice TB

Great throttle response. Much better than stock. Very easy to install only took me about 20 minutes. Only one small problem with the install and I already knew about it. The mounting hole from the throttle cable is too small. You need to fine tune it with a round file or a slightly larger drill bit. Otherwise you'll have to tap it into place. Try to test fit it before you actually mount it.

    drilling required

This is a nice throttle body. I suggest having a vise and drill handy. You'll have to drill the holes out for the throttle before the install. Other than the time that takes, the rest of the install takes about half an hour. Good throttle response.

    Pure Power!

I Debated on this one (75mm) or the 70mm. Go big or go home right? Got the 75mm and I'm not regretting it one bit! It was so easy to bolt on to my SR Upper Plenum (also have the spacer). Of course I had to drill the throttle cable hole a little bigger but it was easy. I Reprogrammed the car after installing the TB and dang could I tell the diffrence! Would recommend to anybody! The TB goes great with StackRacing plenum and spacer! Thanks AM and SR!! :)

    Awesome Throttle Body

Awesome throttle body, even for a N/A car. Make sure when you purchase this to get a new plenum to really get the best performance of the car, and the best sound possible. There is what feels like a little throttle lag, but around 3,000 RPM, it really wakes it up! Make sure you have an aftermarket CAI, the stock intake tube will NOT work with the larger throttle body. I tried just to see if it fit, and it did not even come close.
