    Must Have Handle and Knob

    October 01, 2009

The Pro Street Shifter Handle is better than the original handle that comes with the Steeda Tri-Ax Shifter. The curvature of the Pro Street Handle places the right hand back further allowing the driver to rest his/her elbow on the arm rest more. I prefer the look of billet handle over the boot coming up to the bottom of the knob. Also the black knob is much cooler to the touch than a billet knob. The black knob, with the car sitting awhile in the sun, will still be slightly hotter than warm but will not be too hot to hold on to. Below is some dialog where I got some additional information from Steeda using their forum before I made my purchase. From Scott Bryant I currently have the Steeda Tri-Ax shifter with a Steeda Pistol Grip Shift Handle. I have three questions about the comparision between my current setup and the Steeda Billet Pro Street Shifter Handle. 1. On my current setup the OEM leather boot comes up all the way to the bottom of the Steeda Pistol Grip Shift Handle. With the new Steeda Billet Pro Street Shifter Handle, well the OEM boot come up all the way to the bottom of the powder coated handle or well there be some exposed billet on the billet shaft like the Hurst shifter in the Shelby GTs? 2. My current Steeda Pistol Grip Shift Handle is almost hot to touch after my car sits in the sun all day while I work. I have to have one of my vents blow cold AC on it to cool it down some so that I can comfortably touch it. Well the new power coated handle be cooler to touch after the car sets in the sun all day? (I live in South Georgia). 3. The new Steeda Billet Pro Street Shifter Handle looks like it curves back toward the driver. Is it easier to reach the Steeda Billet Pro Street Shifter Handle then the one that comes with the Tri-Ax shifter? From Steeda Steve On the billet handle, your boot will leave an exposed section of the billet handle. The knob will stay cooler in the heat due to the powder coating, and you won't have to cool it off before you shift! The handle does curve back towards the driver some, and I have found a lot of my customers actually find that it puts the knob right where they want it.

Great product. Using it with the pro 5.0 short throw shift. Hoping it was more polished so i may polish it myself but looks great anyway. Didnt need to modify the shifter boot at all.

Steeda billet pro street shifter handle w/black knob

    October 14, 2010

Easy to install, looks great and is really comfortable when shifting. Shift knob doesn't get as hot as most billet knobs when left in direct sunlight but it still gets alittle warm.

Features on this product are awesome

    January 30, 2012

It was very easy to install, the only thing that took the longest was fitting the sleeve, had to cut out about an inch on the old sleeve, then I used a rubber ring to make it snuggle around the new shifter. I am very happy, 'cause my friends say it looks way cool with this new shifter.

Steeda Billet Pro Street Shifter Handle

    March 07, 2011

I really like the look of the pro street shifter handle. The only down side to this piece is that it will not fit in the factory shifter boot retainer at the top of the boot on the 2010. I'm not sure if others have had similar issues with earlier years, but mine required modification to fit. Other than that, great product!

    She's slick

    May 03, 2013

I have to say, I'm super impressed with this shifter. It's slick looking and feels great, really surprised with the weight of the knob, but it's the perfect balance once installed, which took 5 minutes...once I get my custom made shift boot, there will be pics...thank you for a great product

    Steeda shifter

    January 27, 2012

It didn't come with even basic instructions. As such, it isnt totally clear how to get the plastic shifter housing separated from the console (I pried mine off), and I ended up breaking the connectors between the base of the shifter boot and said plastic housing. Installation will also require cutting the top of the shifter boot as the new shifter is thicker than the stock one. Overall, once I got it installed, and cut and rigged the top of the shifter boot to attach to the new shifter (they give you no suggestons for this), it did look pretty cool and has a great feel. Oddly enough, it requires a longer reach to grab it than the stock shifter, but it's not horrible, and the fact that it looks so cool makes up for it.....:) Also, the shift knob doesn't display the shift pattern, so you may want to obtain a sticker of it (I found one online)- especially if you let others drive your Stang. Wouldn't want someone thinking it's a 6-speed and mistakenly hitting reverse at 90...!!
