How to Install Steeda Supercharger Pulley - 2.40 in on your Mustang

Installation Time

2 hours

This pulley is designed to press onto the supercharger shaft, as is the OEM pulley. Special tools are required both to remove the original pulley and to install the new pulley. Improper installation will result in damage to both the supercharger and the pulley. We highly recommend that this product be installed by a skilled professional utilizing the proper tools. Call Steeda at 954-960-0774 for additional information about installation tools.

This procedure does require that the engine be completely cooled down before removal of the existing pulley or installation of the replacement pulley.

The replacement of the press-on supercharger pulley for the Ford series superchargers (Cobra, Shelby GT 500, Ford GT, Lightning and Harley-Davidson trucks) is a simple procedure, but does require that the engine be completely cooled down before removal of the existing pulley or installation of the replacement pulley. It’s also required that the New pulley be baked in an oven at 400 for 35-45 minutes to ease in installation, or heat the pulley with a propane torch for 1-1/2 minutes so a glove is required for install. It is recommended that you execute the removal and replacement of the pulley(s) using the additional procedures that follow.

1. You must allow the engine to return to room temperature before removing or replacing the pulley. The best procedure is to allow the car/engine to sit overnight before beginning the procedure. In addition, take a measurement from the blower to the first belt groove in order ensure proper alignment of the Steeda pulley.

2. Pre-fit the pulley installer to the supercharger before proceeding to the next step. This will save time and allow the immediate installation of the new pulley.

3. Move the coolant lines aside and remove belt. Remove the center push tab from the pulley. Align Pulley Removal Tool behind the front lip of the front of the pulley. Do not align it with the backside of the pulley. The wall thickness is too thin and you will destroy the pulley. Remove. Proceed to install the new “Warm/Hot” pulley.

4. Before you install the Steeda pulley, check the bore for any surface rust, remove if any (There is no plating on the bore because of the tight tolerance). As you press it on use the pulley to check your measurement from step 1 to ensure proper alignment. Note: For installation of the 555-3365 kit, p/n 555-8905 will be needed.

Following the above additional steps will insure a hassle free installation and many miles of joy.

***Please note, if you need to Remove the Steeda pulley, there is a separate piece you must get from Steeda, part # 555-8904, or part # 555-8906 for the 2013-2014 GT500***
