First off love AM, however this part may look awesome it wasn't shipped well at all. It has marks all over and scrapes but all will go unnoticed once painted so it isn't that big of a deal to me.

Is it possible that American Muscle could paint the Chin Spoiler for me? I'd really like this chin spoiler to be pre-painted to match the finish of my car. Can American Muscle do this for a fee? Thanks!

Quikstang

  • Sadly at this time, this Stillen Chin Spoiler can only be shipped out in it's unpainted form. I'm sure a local shop around you could do a great job painting this for you though. Sorry about that!

factory spoiler removal? Can i removed the Factory spoiler and still have a succesful install? My factory chin spoiler is damaged so i would like to remove it and apply the new chin spoiler. would i have any issues?

docsalas

  • It goes over the factory spoiler so it will not work if your factory one has been damaged. Mine got ripped off ('12 V6) so I'm either going to have to go back to factory or do the GT MOD. $$$

How much lower is this spoiler compared to the stock spoiler? Just wondering if this spoiler is a lot closer to the ground than the stock spoiler? From the photos it does not look to much lower than stock.

Godzukidan

  • No it's not closer to the ground. It's practically the same height as the stock spoiler. Also, this attaches over the stock spoiler so you don't have to remove them. Make sure surfaces are clean where it will adhere to, as instructed in the installation guide.

    Stolen Chin Spoiler

First off the chin spoiler does look good and the fitment is ok... I cleaned all the paint and plastic pieces very well then went over them with the adhesion promoter and then lined up the spoiler and peeled the tape back and stuck the spoiler on. Only about half of the tape stuck to the paint so as the next step to screw the 5 screws into the bottom I did hoping that it would bring the tape in more against the paint and it did not. Almost seemed like the spoiler was too big for the car cause it did not fit well at all. I'm very very upset because now I have holes in my front bumper!

    Love this lip!

Once you get past the irritation of scratches all over the lip when you open the box, it's a really great addition and a super easy install. I had to paint it because of all the scratches, which is fine because it turned out to look much better than just the bare polyurethane. I couldn't pay to get it professionally painted, so (as bad as it sounds) I rattle canned it. It actually turned out great and has held up so far! Here's what I did: I sanded the lip down, cleaned and prepped, used 3 coats of Dupli Color's Adhesion Promoter, then used 3 coats of Dupli Color's Bumper Coating which has a flex additive in it so it is less likely to chip, flake, or peel. It's made specifically for polyurethane bumpers. It coats and lays very nicely, so it doesn't even look like it was spray painted, it just looks stock. It ends up matching the rest of the ABS plastic on the car like the rockers and rear valance. The install was simple after that, and pretty self explanatory. This product looks great, the fitment isn't perfect, but nothing is perfect, it's better than expected for an aftermarket part. All in all it was a great purchase and I'm very satisfied.

It was very easy and super fast to install the only issue it did not fit like a glove I had to put some glue on in the side the tape did not help at all . Made the.car look sweet tho I have a 2" drop and now with the lip seems very low

    must have part

I recieved this part in 2 days as usual! The box was totalled! Fearing the worse I opened it up and to my amazement the spoiler did not have a scratch! i bought the unpainted one and after a quick clean with mineral spirits it needed no paint and matched the rockers perfectly! It came with no directions, but lets face it, with a little common sense the install still took only 45 mins. and that was being very careful not to scratch my baby. One note, you DO NOT have to remove your factory front spoiler, this applies right over the top of it! Ads a very aggressive look to your stang! A must have quality part!

You're on your own with this install!

My spoiler came without instructions, fasteners, and was placed into a box with very little protective wrapping. The spoiler was scratched. Very unusual for American Muscle. As there were no replacements in stock, I decided to fix the spoiler. I fixed the scratches and used primer and paint to make the spoiler look like new. I found installation instructions on V6mustangperformance.com, I purchased sheet metal fasteners and installed the spoiler. The spoiler looks fantastic. More work than I originally expected, due to the poor shipping condition, however.

    Looks great, aggresive appearance

The item is a urethane so expect to have some minor cosmetic scrathces. What I wound up doing was sanding the product for an all around even surface then painted it with a satin finish. I used Krylon fustion boding spray paint for plastics. The end result was a very nice finish and looks great on the car and it definately adds to the already aggresive stance. Any do it yourself project will require some time patience and work but its woth it at the end.

    Chinny Chin Chin

Great Product. Very Flexible so it won't crack on you. Fit was perfect and installation took me 25 minutes. 5 pre drilled holes on the bottom, just go throughout the bumper with the screws and your set along with the 3m tape. looks really good and gives a much meaner appearance. Nice stock color too with a cool effect. i washed it with soap and water and used some vinyl rubber cleaner on it. looks really nice and not expensive at all. A+

    Aggressive Styling

This spoiler is great. Its definitely easier to do it yourself if you have 2 people working on it, but it is manageable by yourself. It took roughly 2 hours to install it properly double checking fitment and cleanliness of mating surfaces. It looks amazing compared to the stock. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a way to enhance the appearance of the front of their mustang.

    Sleek Chin Spoiler

I was iffy about purchasing this product over designing my own, but I'm glad I made the purchase. Really pulled the front end of the car together and gave it the look I was searching for.

    Don't freak out!

Don't freak out! When this product arrived I thought there was a mistake. It was shipped in a radiator support box that clearly wasn't long enough for the chin spoiler. When I opened the box, the chin spoiler was in there FOLDED IN HALF! That is actually good news. This is a soft urethane which is very flexible so if/when you do bump something, there's less chance of damage. I simply laid it out flat on my floor for a day and it straightened right up. This is normal un-prepped urethane. To remove junk from the molding process, release agents, grease, etc, I first cleaned it with a Scotch Brite pad and a good cleaner. Afterwards, I cleaned it with Dupli-Color's Prep Spray and a lint-free rag. Then I prepped it with Bulldog adhesion Promoter, Dupli-Color makes an adhesion promoter as well but I already had this in the garage. Then I painted it using several thin coats of Dupli-Color Black Flexible Bumper Coating (FB105). The color and texture came out great! I don't see a difference between it and the factory black side skirts. I'm not sure where the idea came from of removing the factory chin spoiler but I wouldn't and didn't see it in the instructions AM provides. This fits right over the factory chin spoiler, it even gives it more support. I think others that removed the factory chin may have a problem with it being weaker. The only thing I did different on the install (which was VERY easy) was I bought some #10 x 3/4" self tapping hex head cap screws from the hardware store to replace the thin little screws they provided in the kit to provide more support. It's holding up great and looks FANTASTIC! I also added the Roush side splitters which were also very easy to install. They both really look like they should have come on the car new and look great! If you look very close at the spoiler right after the center part where it curves back, there is a very small gap there but with the screw in the fender well (factory), the screws added to the bottom and the 2-sided tape which was pre-installed on mine, it is very strong and not going anywhere. You can't see the gap until you get down a couple feet away. For that reason only I rated the fit at 4/5 stars but it still fits very nice.

this product really improves the look

I had pondered over getting the front chin spoiler for several months. I finally broke down and bought it, can't believe I waited so long. It was exactly the part my 2011 V6 mustang needed to give it that over the top look. I have had more compliments since I put it on. I truly recommend this part and you won't be disappointed.

    Not what I expected

It came in a large box folded, taped up multiple times. The were many imperfections. I was expecting to just install the part. Had to scuff, sand and paint the part. Still could see the imperfections. Installed and was asked by others if the part was used. Removed it which was easy as the two sided tape didn't stick to the spoiler at all - but it sure did the car which I am still trying to remove. Going to try to sand all paint off and fill the bad spots and repaint. If that does not improve the looks just going to throw it away.

    V6 chin spoiler

The directions that came with it were very vague. Went onto the site and there is better instructions, but they didn't mention that the new spoiler fits over the stock one for install. Figured it out though. The tape doesn't stick perfectly in all spots so we had to drill an extra screw onto the top of each side that I ended up painting black afterwards. Definitely a good upgrade from the small stock look, but would be nice if there were more options for the 2010-2012 v6's for chin spoilers.

This is a great appearance mod!

This chin spoiler took a day to prime, paint and clear coat. Install time was less than an hour. This is a massive improvement from the stock spoiler and should be the first appearance mod you should consider.

    Better than stock

My stock spoiler was all beat up so this did the trick and covered up the old one. I like not having to take off the old one I makes installation easy. The fit was not perfect in a couple of spots so a little black silicone window sealant filled in the gaps and looks good. I also used one extra screw right in the middle, close to the front which pulls it tight to the bumper. I recommend painting it before installation for the best look.
