New bolt needed? It doesnt seem like this kit comes with a new alternator bolt for the water pump's clearance. Is it simply not included or is it not needed?

  • It doesn't say it comes with it, but it does. The only thing you will need is some lock tight for the crank bolt, you do reuse the crank bolt, but it's not a problem.

Just a quick question about your UDP here. I plan on ordering it, but I need to know if it's going to effect my tune. Do I have to re tune my car after installing this UDP? Was hoping I can just toss it in there and it will add to my car instead of throwing the angry wrench icon on/check engine light.

I just bought a 2007 GT so I'm new to the 3v. I'm just wondering, why do none of the 3v underdrive kits have an alternator pulley, but 2v and 4v 4.6L have it?

  • The 3v alternator pulley is already the correct size for the under drive pulley kit, so they don't need to sell you a new one. the older 4.6 2v/4v used an upgraded alternator pulley for their kit

    10whp/8wtq Gain!

    Just had the underdrive pulleys installed today. $320 for install and 2 dyno pulls before and 2 after. Install took the guy roughly 45 min. On the dyno before, it made 298whp/311wtq. After the Steeda Underdrive Pulleys, it made 308whp/319wtq. Definitely significant gains. Torque improved everywhere by around 8wtq. Highly recommended.

    Great product

    Although these pulleys were the most affordable the quality appears to be first rate, and the pump pulley has holes drilled in it unlike the one in the picture. I installed them myself and reflashed the computer for 93 octane, then went for a drive. I had previously installed a C&L cold air intake and Borla Stingers, but I did feel an improvement with the new tune and pulleys. According to everything I've read the combination of these mods should be good for an additional 40 HP on my '07 Gt and the throttle response is much improved. Installation however is a bit more involved than the directions would have you believe. After driving the front wheels on ramps I never needed to get under the car. First I tried to loosen the water pump bolts but the pump turned with the wrench. I jammed the rubber handle of a screw driver between the pulley and belt and managed to loosen 2 of the screws but not the other 2. I backed the 2 loosened screws out far enough to place a screwdriver across the screws to keep the pulley from turning while wrenching the remaining screws. I could have used a strap wrench but didn't think of it at the time. The next problem was that I couldn't get the crank pulley bolt off of my 5 speed car without an impact wrench. To do that it's necessary to remove the fan/shroud assembly along with the coolant expansion tank. I also had to remove my CAI to get the fan out but it wasn't any real problem. If I didn't have an impact wrench though, I would have been screwed. The next thing to slow me down was my pulley removal tool was too small for the pulley. A trip to the local rental place got me a puller that almost worked, The jaws were wide enough but the bolt was too short to reach the crank. I stuck a 3/4" deep socket between the end of the crank and the screw and pullet the pulley off. Everything went together ok after that but you should be aware of the problems you may run into.

    Steeda underdrive Pulleys

    06 Vista Blue Mustang GT. Great product! Can fel the HorsePower Gain.. Easy installation - Make sure you have a torques wrench, Impact Wrench, and harmonic balancer puller. Dont forget the silicone on the keyway...

    Easy Install, Nice HP

    Installation of these pulleys was a snap. Just follow the instructions and your good to go. I used an impact gun and it was very smooth. For the price its worth it, nice HP gains in low and midrange. Seems to just rev faster overall. Great buy!

    Great Product

    If you are not mechanically inclined, have this product installed professionally. Like Bob, I too had minor issues with this install. I did not have a strap wrench (you should use one regardless of trans) and had to put the trans in first & use the parking brake to keep the crank shaft from turning. Minor, but it was a hassle. The kit SHOULD come with a new lower dampner/pulley bolt. The factory bolt is torque to yield & should not be re-used - even though the instructions say you can, I bought a new one from Ford and used it. The difference is noticeable, engine rev's quicker, throttle response is better & I've seen an increase in gas mileage (on the highway). No problems what so ever with engine cooling, charging system or power steering. Good bang for the buck. Thumbs up on this one, Steeda. Thanks to American Muscle for the great deal & fast shipping!

    Another awesome product by Steeda

    Even though this took longer than two hours to install (even with the proper tools) it was worth it. I can feel the low end HP gain...not huge by any means but definitely noticeable. I buy all of my parts from AM because they always deliver on their promises, and of course Steeda makes superb parts. If you're looking for a good bolt on to start with or even as the "next step" to your monster creation...this is an excellent part.

    free hp gains

    Got them from AM very fast.Use a chrysler pulley removal tool to take off stock pulley.You can rent it at auto zone.The engine runs very smooth and more quite.And the extra horse power is nice.If you have more than 50,000 miles on your car like I did,change the belt to a napa belt.For $200.00 this is some good and real horse power.Use a 18mm socket and a 24 inch breaker bar,and hit it to your left to break the bolt lose.Then use impact to remove the bolt.Torque the pulley bolt to 115 foot pounds and the water pump pulley at 18 foot pounds.Use a strap wrench around the steeda pulley while you torque the stock bolt to 115 foot pounds.

    Solid Product

    Bought these for my Automatic 2006 GT with only aftermarket exhaust installed and 48k miles. definitely felt better throttle response, car overall feels more responsive then before especially on the freeway, the added power has given a slightly different sound to it under load which is awesome, I love american muscle, its staff for putting up with my endless phone calls, the fact that you don't pay taxes on your purchases and free shipping (standard) Just received my next purchase, 2010 Black GT500 staggered wheels ;) which are going on tomorrow after work! next up will be cold air intake/tuner combo. Along with a handful of other goodies for my stang as the months come along. Keep up the good work AM! :)

    Great Product

    Great Product for the price, good low end power gains and smoother revs. If your not mechanically inclined it might be a little difficult just make sure you take your time and follow the instructions and itll be worth it in the end

    I love the look of this product ! The timing markings stand out much better than the competitions products

    Installed just as the instructions stated . I had to take off the electric fan, which I highly recommend because it make the removal easier.
