How to Install a Taylor Spiro Pro 8mm Spark Plug Wires on your 1996-1998 Mustang Cobra

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLING TAYLOR PRO SERIES CUSTOM FIT WIRE SETS

1. Custom fit spark plug wire sets are ready to install. Some sets have an additional coil wire to fit various models.

2. Change only one wire at a time starting with the longest. Remove by twisting boot to break seal. Grasp boot and pull with a steady motion. DO NOT pull on the wire.

3. Select a new wire that is approximately the same length as the old one. . . 4. Use silicone compound when included and carefully apply a thin coat on the inside of the spark plug boot, distributor boot, and coil boot. This compound will insure proper sealing, prevent arcing and boots sticking to spark plugs. Use a clean cotton swab or similar tool to apply. Read precautionary note.

4. Install new wire on spark plug securely. Listen for, or feel the "snap" of the terminal on to the plug. Distributors, coils and male posts should be installed in the same manner.

5. For distributors and coils with female sockets, press brass terminal into socket and slide nipple onto tower.

6. Repeat steps 2-6 until all lead are installed. Install wire into separations and loops. Inspect wire routing to insure that wires and boots do not come in contact with exhaust manifolds and other high heat, high abrasion areas.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLING TAYLOR PRO SERIES UNIVERSAL WIRE SETS

1. All universal ignition wire s ets have factory installed spark plug terminals and boots. Kits are provided with components for the distributor ends and the coil wire.

2. Change only one wire at a time starting with the longest. Remove by twisting boot to break seal. Grasp boot and pull with a steady motion. DO NOT pull on the wire.

3. Select the longest wire from the new set. Measure the old wire or place new wire onto spark plug and route as desired to distributor/coil. Mark wire and cut allowing an extra 1/2" for stripping.

4. Install distributor/coil boot on end of wire. Silicone lubricant can be used to ease assembly.

5. Strip wire 1/2". CAUTION: Special care must be taken to prevent cutting the outer coating of the spiro wound and resistor core. Use a good quality strip and crimp tool such as Taylor part number 43390 or 43395.

6. FOLD CONDUCTOR OVER INSULA TION. PLACE DISTRIBUTOR TERMINAL ON FOLDED CONDUCTOR. CRIMP TERMINAL WITH CRIMP TOOL OR PLIERS. DO NOT CRIMP WITH EXCESSIVE PRESSURE, AS THIS CAN CUT OUTER INSULA TION AND WEAKEN TERMINATION.

7. Use silicone compound when included and carefully apply thin coat on the inside of the spark plug boot, distributor boot and coil boot. This compound will insure proper sealing, prevent arcing and boots sticking to spark plugs. Use a clean cotton swab or similar tool to apply. Read precautionary note.

8. Install new wire on spark plug securely. Listen for or feel the "snap" of the terminal onto the plug. Distributors and coils with male posts should be installed in the same manner.

9. Repeat steps 2-S until all wires are complete. Install wires into separators and looms. Inspect wire routing to insure that wires and boots do not come in contact with exhaust manifolds and other high heat, high abrasion areas.
