These wont work with the aftermarket MMD bolt on hood strut ??

Sally

  • The 3 in. Cowl Hood - Unpainted (10-12 GT, V6) will not work with MMD Bolt on Hood Struts because the aftermarket hood shocks are not compressed to the weight of the aftermarket hood.

  • You will most likely have to make one or have one made. There is no screen offered with the 3 in. Cowl Hood - Unpainted (10-12 GT, V6)

this cowl hood tops off the modern muscle look I was going for. Install was super easy in my garage took about 10 min. Fits perfectly! I Was a little nervous about having to take it to a body shop to be fitted but it didn't need it! The hood has a gel coat already so I had it wrapped matte black like my previous hood with no problem at all.

    Great Product

The body lines were almost perfect, I had to move the back of the fender out on the drivers side a little and move the middle out on the passengers side, after that it was a flawless fit. I had a little problem getting primer to stick (underside of the hood only) so I scuffed it up pretty good, cleaned it, and heated it up a bit and the paint turned out flawless too. If you are in the market for a cowl hood this is the way to go. P.S. the squirter relocation kit is rather cheap and flimsy for the price. I used 1/4" blue push pull air line and the results were much better

    Great Look and Great Fit!

Always a little apprehensive about ordering hoods as you never know how much prep work is needed. Pulled this out of the box and was happily surprised it needed very little! Perfect fit and little prep is a huge Win/Win in my book!

I got the hood primered white and much lighter than stock hood. Now makes the car look that much meaner!

Took some work but outcome was worth it

To begin, the first hood that was shipped was damaged by the carrier. American Muscle was very understanding and quickly shipped out a replacement. After I received the replacement, we test fit it and it was a perfect fit. Gaps were uniform and the lines blended well with the car. I then brought it to my body shop where they followed the recommended instructions. The hood was painted and installed on the car. At this point during inspection, it was discovered that the fiberglass had thousands of tiny waves in the finish, apparently from the mold. We could not tell this until after the Black was sprayed on the hood. The body shop then had to strip the paint and sanded the entire hood with a very long block to slick the surface. After a couple more days of sanding and prep, the hood was resprayed and cleared. The final outcome was excellent. The hood really gives the car a very aggressive look.

    Issues with fitting

I bought this hoof over the Cervinis stalker hood cause I was going for the old school. I have MAJOR fitting problems. Fits in the front just fine and in the back but on the sides it sticks horrible. Almost like it is bowed. It sticks out like a sore thumb. After dropping close to a thousand bucks after getting it painted I am truly dissatisfied. I wish I went with the Cervinis instead of the Tru-fiber. Bad taste in my mouth and a very light wallet!

    • Response from AmericanMuscle

Test fitting of body kits and hoods is essential and very highly recommended prior to painting to ensure the proper fitment of the product. I'm very sorry to hear that you're having fitment issues on the sides with this hood as we haven't heard of any similar issues in the past. If it had been test fit and had no issue prior to painting, I'd highly suggest contacting your painter to see why their work is causing the described fitment issues.

Amazing hood! Fit good! surprising very flat for fiberglass!

My truefiber hood makes the front of my car! i had racing stripes before and had to take them off and change the style of stripe, regular racing stripes in my opinion dont look right with this hood so if you have them think about that before you buy it you will have to take them off. The hood is jery flat for a fiberglass hood its not all wavy ect. It fit pretty nice, the nicest fitting fiberglass hood i have ever seen... only one spot needed sanded down to fit right. overall awesome hood. make sure you buy relocator kit for windsheild pissers.

    Good Looking Hood

Love the look of this hood on my 2011 5.0. Shipping worried me a little, the tracking number I was given didn't work and wasn't even for the correct carrier, but after a week and a half I got my hood! Shop I got it painted at had to charge me extra for the wet sand and install, along with the paint.
