I am extremely satisfied with this tuner. The AM and Bama Custom Tuning staff were extremely helpful over the phone in handling my 8 million pre-sale questions, as I was very paranoid about messing with my vehicle's computer and other settings. But after speaking with them and now using this tuner in the last few days, I have no regrets at all.
This tuner is very easy to use and very straightfoward in everything. Just plug into the OBD port, load the custom tune of your choice, and it gives you the instructions on the screen to walk you through it. There is absolutely nothing to worry about. The touch screen is absolutely flawless to me; I don't see how anyone can call it the worst ever; maybe he's comparing it to an Iphone, but either way, this tuner's screen has beautiful graphics and has given me NO problems at all in its ease of use.
I like all the features this tuner offers such as day/night display modes, adjustable brightness and sound, and the performance features for quarter mile runs, 0-60, 1/4 mile runs, braking distance, and top speed, making it very easy to get a rough estimate of the car's performance without having to go to the track every time.
I have only loaded the 87 octane street tune at this time, as I have not yet filled up the car with 93 octane yet. I will wait for springtime when the car comes out of winter storage for that. As far as horsepower results, I can't say too much on that yet, but on my first test drive I made a pass on the highway and it did feel stronger in the mid range, which is exactly what the street tune is meant to be for; Keep in mind, this is a tuner; this is not a supercharger. If you're expecting a 75-100 hp upgrade, you'll be disappointed. If you're expecting a 20-30 hp upgrade, you'll be very happy. The highest performance gains are meant for the performance and especially the race tunes, and I will report on that later when I use them. Just be realistic with your expectations and you won't be disappointed.
To me, the best thing about buying this tuner from AM is having the Bama Custom tuning staff with the free tunes for life. It is more or less a peace of mind for making sure my future mods will work properly with the vehicle by having them tune the vehicle for those parts. Easy enough.
The only slightly bad thing about the tuner is the battery tends to be drained pretty quickly when it's mounted on the windshield mount and not being charged, but just remember to charge the tuner with the cable when you're not in the car.
I must say I am a little stunned to read some of the negative comments on this tuner. This tuner does everything it says it does and I have no complaints whatsoever about it.
Obviously there are other SCT tuner choices, but I do believe I got what I paid for with this more expensive tuner.
Many thanks to the Bama Custom Tuning staff and AM. Thanks!
