Features
  • Dyno proven 21.5 RWHP increase
  • For street or track
  • Easy port & plenum fine tuning
  • Uses stock engine accessories
  • Fits 1999-2004 4.6L GT Mustangs
Description
Dyno proven performance gains.   This polished finish Typhoon manifold has been chassis dyno proven to produce 21.5 more rear wheel horsepower than the stock factory manifold at 6,500 rpm and more torque from 4,000 rpm on up (with a cam upgrade).

Three Piece Design. Not only is the Typhoon intake manifold compatible with stock engine accessories (such as alternator, pullies, etc.), it's constructed as a three piece design to allow easy access to the bottom and middle of the plenum chamber and the runners for additional port and plenum fine tuning.

Uses stock engine accessories. The Typhoon manifold is a direct bolt-in replacement for all 1999 to 2004 4.6 2V engines and uses the stock alternator and other stock engine accessories.

Recommended Upgrade. To realize the full power potential that this intake manifold has to offer, a cam change is highly recommended. American Muscle recommends Comp Cams Stage II Xtreme Energy XE270AH Camshafts for the 1999-2004 4.6 2V Mustangs

Application. This Typhoon Intake Manifold is designed for the 1999 to 2004 4.6L GT's and can also be used on 1996-1998 4.6 GT engines if 1999+ heads are used along with additional modifications and required parts.

Technical Notes: The stock intake manifold bolts are too short and the nine bolts supplied in this kit must be used. The two stock bolts that go through the thermostat area of the manifold can be used. The four bolts holding the upper plenum to the manifold are too long and you must use the supplied kit bolts.

Awesome Intake!

Q & A (3 Questions, 2 Answers) Ask a Question

Can i use stock heads with this intake manifold. I got a 2001 mustang gt automatic and plan on get stage 2 comp cams with forged internals and bigger pistons. but i was wondering can i use my stock heads and pistons and still use this manifold and cams without breaking something. i am trying to achieve 500 rwhp on my automatic trans. Any help would be appreciated. I need a engine build to get my goal.

  • Yes you can use this intake. The manufacture recommends the use of cams to be able to achieve the max performances of the intake. Just remmember to use the Ford torque specs and re-torque the lower bolts cuz they are not torque right from factory. Use new gaskets and water temp sensor!

2000 v6 3.8l will it fit the 2000 v6 3.8l series?

Good Question (0) (0)
  • No it will not. This is for the 8 cylinder (GT) engine. You have a 6 cylinders. Some shops do the work on order for the 6 cylinders but you'll never get enough horsepower to justify the price. Spend your money on a set of gears for the 6.

    Awesome Intake!

With this intake, Trick Flow heads and stage 1 cams I gained 66 horsepower to the rear wheels of my 03 GT automatic. Before the dyno I had 229. After, 295. Not bad for an automatic transmission. My goal was 300 RWHP so now I am going to swap the shorty headers for long tubes and that should get me the 300 I was looking for.

    great intake

this manifold looks great and installs easy. I am no mechanic but was able to do the install myself because of the detailed instructions. The car now runs great and i did notice a horse power increase. I also added the professional products plentum and throttle body to complete the intake and what a difference definately worth the money

Good looking, good performance, awful installation

Ive got a 2000 GT with cobra suspension, brakes, bumpers, and interior. Running 3.73 gears, and a cold air intake. This install was just problem after problem. 1) Aluminum is soft and it wants to strip VERY easily and the bolts that it comes with are aluminum so when you torque everything you must go slow. 2) There's no heater core hose..theres just a hole so I had to rig it for now until I either get to weld it in or use a tap and make some threads. Other than that I cant complain performance wise because it feels the same and i dont have any other mods bolted on yet until I get a TB, tune, and cams. Great looking but just a pain in the butt. Worth it? Yeah I guess

    Great Product

This manifold not only looks good but performs just as well. i installed this on my 99 GT because i bought a zex nitrous kit and felt safer with the aluminum over plastic. i could easily tell right when i took it out the power it gave me (especially at 4000+ rpms), this also increased my throttle response a bunch. A+

Looks as good as it works!

My plastic P.I. cracked on me and there was no way I was going to go with the stock one again so I picked up one of these and I have no regrets. Its a dyno proven 12 rwhp and 34 ft.lbs. of torque on a stock Mustang but if your a real muscle car guy you\'ll do a cam swap and thats where the gains are really made. I coupled this with a 180* thermostat and my baby is running cool with a good amount of air. Also this is a MUST if you want a quality nitrous set up. Also, it looks great under the hood... definitley sets it apart from other GT\'s. Great product and great retailer, wouldn\'t go with anyone else!

PP Polished Typhoon Intake 2002 GT

It was a perfect fit. The only problem that I found was that the instructions did not mention that you need to reseal the lower bolts and add some RTV if not you will have an air leak that will drive you crazy! but one time the intake was re- installed I have no more problems. My 02 GT has an Acuffab TB 75mm, C&L plenum 75mm, K&N could air intake, Steeda under drive pulleys, Bassani X pipe and Magnaflow Cat-Back, 3.73 FR gears, Eibach anti roll sway bar kit, Steeda lowering spring kit and it moves greate with this intake.

Great upgrade! No more chances of cracked intake

I don't know why other people talk bad about this intake. It fit just right on my 99 GT. It did take me like 4 hours Saturday n another 3 Sunday but it was my first time ever doing this n I did it myself me not being a mechanic. I've being driving my car for almost a month now with this intake installed and so far so great. I defenetly recommend this intake.

Looks great in my car. It did take a few hours to install because you have to remove your air intake, plenum, and fuel rails with injectors.

    My Professional Product Experience

Man..ha ha I received this product and a couple of the previous reviews of it are 100% correct. I had to file down an area greatly which sits over the water pump line-which for such an expensive product, you should not have to do. After fully installing the product, I realized it had no heater hose connector tube for my hose to fit over. I had to return it for and exchange and had to file the second one also. It was not a very difficult install but very time consuming for one person. I believe you do need a cam for a noticeable performance difference. I have a list of upgrades, but I can not really tell a difference with this one. It's a beautiful product but everything that shines is not gold.. I think I would have been better off ordering the ford racing manifold.
