  • In addition to what Dron suggested, you can also use a piece of fishing line to slide between the scoop and the body of your Mustang to aid in the removal.

  • Yes, it may take some tweaking since both parts are after market, but the design of the scoop was meant to be an exact replica of the stock get hood.

    Xenon hood scoop 2000 v6

    September 12, 2010

I bought this hood scoop and it look amazing on the car I know it says will not fit a v6 mustang but if you cut out the imitation hood grill it slides up and matches the hood perfectly and with the ribs in the underside of the scoop it actualy will help with the centering cause once the ribs hit the top peice where the imitation grill was the front corners of the scoop line right up with the two lines in the middle of the hood I hope this helps everyone

This is a good scoop. If your looking for something to go in the middle like a billet grill, there is nothing that fits.

2000 Hood Scoop with chrome grill insert.

    February 14, 2012

Amazing new look for my stang. Remember that dull looking stock GT hood? Well that sad memory is now history. Man let me just say that after the shop paint, and install, I was blown away with the more agressive look. Scoop arrived in 3 days as suggested and had it and side saleen scoops, bottom nose, and running pony grills all installed in a week. Very pleased with my products. You can see a pic of my Bright Atlantic Blue GT on here. For all of you import drivers, I just got on thing to say, ITS V8 OR NOTHING! Proud mustang owner. JohnW

    A MUST! for v6ers

    April 23, 2012

I tried to paint it my self with duplicolor products(primmer, base coat and clear coat) and i'm an experienced painter with products anything(except cars) lol. Do not waste your time painting this product unless you want it flat looking. Not american muscles fault. Take it to a paint shop( cost me original paint $46 a can and the shop painted it for $50) total $96 plus the product. The look you will get is AWESOME! thanks A.M! (p.s... if you are going to install it your self follow the instructions with the product to be in the sun for a while so it can be flexible.) ENJOY!!!

    Awesome!!

    March 24, 2010

First I must say that I was skeptical about purchasing this scoop, compared to the ABS plastic scoops on the market. I did notice that this scoop has an indent on the top, and even after warming the scoop up, does not come out. However, it does fit my "02 V6 hood, with some modifications. These include trimming the underside ribs down so the scoop sits flat on the hood. I am having my stang repainted, so the body shop was able to fit the scoop on and bolted from under the hood. After sanding and painting, the scoop is seamless and looks like part of the original hood. My stang now has a more aggressive and awesome look, especially with my addition of the Roush front facia bumber. Will send photos.

    Pretty Good

    December 23, 2009

Couldn't give it 5 stars because of a few problems with it. One problem may have just been the paint shop's fault: The hood scoop fit when it arrived (I think), but when they painted it, I had to flex it while placing it on the hood to get it to fit right. And even then it still didn't fit right. Now, either I didn't notice that it was misshapen at first, or the paint shop messed it up. Either way, if you're careful you should be able to flex the part while putting it on the hood and not have too much trouble. That said, the adhesive tape blows. I'm not sure I'm comfortable driving 80 on the freeway with this thing, while trusting it not to fly off and smash my windshield in. I plan on pulling up a corner or two and slapping on some gorrilla glue between the tape and the scoop, if it hasn't set hard enough. The problem is that the side that goes down on your car will stick like no other, but the side that sticks to the hood scoop isn't nearly as bond-happy. Now, despite a few problems, this thing looks amazing. I had it painted black and put it on my '02 Mineral Grey V6 with a black Mach 1 style hood decal and I love the way it looks. At least, it looks good from a distance, but from inside the car or just up close on the sides you can see that some parts of it aren't completely flush. If you're going for perfection, or you're putting your car into a show, I might either reconsider this part, or consider having a professional with experience install the part. Note that the back end of the hood scoop is going to rise off of your hood by about a half inch or so. This is normal, and gives the hood scoop a "taller" appearance. That probably doesn't need to be said, but just in case someone was confused.

    Hood Scoop Customer

    October 04, 2010

The scoop really tops-off the car! The body/paint/prep work was minimal but there was no template as to where the scoop should be mounted. I pulled-down the hood blanket to find the factory locations which some of the pins from this scoop matched, but the front pins/bolts prooved to be a pain in the butt! The grille had to be modified in order to get the scoop to sit flush to the hood. Unless you have serious mechanical and/or body work aptitude, be careful with this project! Final product looks great! I would ask American Muscle to produce a template to aid in the proper mounting location, otherwise you'll miss the factory locations and never be able to install the mounting nuts from the backside!
