  • Unfortunately, this is not one of the hood scoops that we can paint prior to shipping at the current time. A local body shop should be able to match your paint perfectly though! If you definitely want a scoop that comes pre-painted, please check out the link below for an option we have available.

Question Resolved

Can this be drilled I like the look of this scoop , however I would rather attach it by drilling holes through it and bolting it to the hood,. Is this possible or must it be attached with the tape?

Don't ruined your nice hood like I did!!!!

It cost me $100 to have my hood scoop painted.I had problems shortly after sticking to my hood.I talk to some people they said it would be ok sticking it of top of Le Mans strips.Well they were wrong. After having it in the sun the hood scoops expands because its Polyurethane. So this cause a wrinkle in the stripes. Then the corners of the scoop where coming up.I tried to glue it back down and it seemed to hold a while.Till finally I was driving thru the mountains around 70 mph when wind got under it and it blew off.Now im stuck with a messed up hood and no scoop to even resell I could not find it on the side of the interstate! When it flew off it torn a hole in my stripes.Im so aggravated now cause a screwed up my beautiful car!Don't buy Polyurethane, and buy something thats bolts up!Hope this message helps someone!

After reading the instructions and not having a lot of experience with a product like this, I decided to have this professionally painted and installed. I just didn't feel comfortable doing it myself. I did install silver gutter screen in the front openings and I've had quite a few people ask me if it is functional. The hood scoop comes with stickers for the openings and I used them as a template for the screen. It looks amazing!!!! This is an awesome product and have no reservations recommending it.

simple way to dress up your ride. If your like me and dont want holes drilled in your hood, this is the way to go. easy install but no room for mistakes. Looks nice on the car amd have had alot of looks and compliments. Best part is, I can put my ride back to original later if I choose so.

    great Product

First, you must follow the directions exactly! Prep the underside before you put the tape on, and it WILL stick. I Painted and installed my Hood scoop myself and could not be happier with this product. It fit perfectly and looks awesome. It has been on my car for 1 summer and all winter and cannot be pulled off even if I tried. I do advise that you take your time and not rush through the installation process. This is one awesome looking Scoop that will turn heads. I Highly recommend this Scoop because of it's gorgeous looks and it's inexpensive great value.

    Modern Hood Scoop, oh yeah!

As soon as I got it, I had it painted by a body shop for $100. Like many others, I took some screening, cut it and painted it, and installed it in the vents of the scoop using Gorilla Glue. I used wider 3M double sided tape, available at any auto store, on the scoop and even used some Gorilla Glue to augment the tape(I have no intentions of removing this scoop). I was a little anxious applying it to the hood due to the lack of room for mistakes, but there were no problems. I placed it between the windshield washer nozzles, and centered it along the center line on the hood(duh!). Very easy. I then pressed it down, placed a towel on it and then left a few moderate weights on it. After an hour, I removed the towel, and let it bake some more( it was 88 degrees and sunny all day). Solid scoop, makes a word of difference to your car. Great scoop, great site.

    So far so good

I loved the size if the hood scoop. At first I thought I'd be stuck cause It was not painted but I manned up and bought some primer and paint and man! It came out really well. It's really easy ot install if you follow the instructions. I'm dealing with my first bunch of rain storms and it seems to be holding up fine(the scoop and my paint job that is). If you do it yourself there are so many ways you can trick it out but if you thing your're gonna jack it up then just let some one install it for you. Last it even seemed to hold at 100 mph so so far so good!

    update review

still love it still looks great, when you apply i reccomend getting thicker 3m tape. i got some an inch wide at the part store, re appied per nstructions with scoop, and now shes not comeing off the car at all! ( ford painted my scoop the wrong color too ) still a 5 star rateing! but besure to use wider tape. i eventuly also noticed through car washes water would get under there. i masking taped off the hood applied, black caulk, outdoor 20 year warrenty. the black ring around the bottom really stands out and shes 100% waterproof! buy this scoop!

    Xenon Scoop

This is one big hunk of hood scoop. Made of a durable urethane material and very heavy. I was going to put this on my 05 GT, but ended up installing it on my friends 06 GT. We decided to paint it ourselves with primer and paint we already had. Follow the instruction on painting to the letter...our paint job came out very well. The installation and prepping is a bear in my opinion. Upon test fitting, we noticed that the shape of the scoop was way off the contour of the hood especially the back end (thinnest). Out came the heat gun and we heated it up and molded for a better fit to lessen the pre-load. After that we primed and painted. DO NOT use the supplied double-back tape that comes in the box. I bought some 1" wide tape at Home-Depot. You must roughen the underside where the tape will go and do not get any primer or paint on the bottom surface. It says to use Acetone or MEK, however, fingernail polish remover will work too. We applied more than 1 layer of tape around the contact surfaces to cover as much of an area as we could on the hood. The key here is the more surface you contact, the less likelihood it will come off. We set the scoop on the hood and centered where it ought to go and outlined it with blue masking tape. We washed the hood and used alcohol/water on the surface where the tape will contact. The gently set it down and started pressing...hard. That baby stuck down real good. Let it sit over night. So far it looks like it's gonna stay. The hood scoop looks real good and our paint job matches very well (black). This particular hood scoop is perhaps the most complicated to do, but worth it if done correctly. The vinyl inserts for the billet are ok, but we used them as a template for gutter screen and used black RTV as adhesive. Looks great! If you have the know-how and patience...then this scoop is for you. I gave it 4 stars, only because the supplied tape is not good enough and trouble to prep is time consuming. The look of it is 5 stars however.

    easy install

easy to install and looks great! IF you sand it use 600 or finer , 400 wont do if you use the thin flex paint.
