V8 Look And Sound. If you're looking to give your V6 Pony the dual exhaust look and aggressive sound of a V8, look no further than the MAC Dual Exhaust Conversion Kit from AmericanMuscle.

Flow Path Mufflers. MAC Flow Path Chambered Mufflers feature a patented multi passage design, following Helmholtz's Theory of Tone, to produce a muffler that effectively flows exiting exhaust gases all while maintaining a desirable tone. With no packing that can burn out, Flow Path Mufflers will sound the same mile after mile, year after year.

No Cutting or Welding Required. Unlike other aftermarket V6 dual exhaust kits that require cutting and welding the stock Mid Pipe, the MAC Performance Dual Exhaust Cat-Back system simply bolts right up to the stock Y-pipe for a no hassle installation. Just bolt on and go!

High Quality Construction. Mandrel bent from durable 2.5" aluminized Steel tubing for strength and corrosion resistance, this MAC Performance Dual Cat-Back features two "Flow Path" chambered mufflers with massive 3" diameter polished stainless steel tips for classic muscle car sound and looks.

Application. The MAC Performance Dual Exhaust Cat-Back System is designed as a direct bolt-on to the existing factory Y-pipe on any 1999 to 2004 3.8L or 3.9L V6 Mustang for more power and a more aggressive sound.

Technical Note. When buying a dual cat-back exhaust kit for your 1999-2004 V6 Mustang, you will need to select the "Exhaust Hanger Kit" from the drop down option menu above to properly install your new exhaust.

Installation Note: AmericanMuscle recommends changing to a 1999-2004 GT rear fascia so the tips fit properly.

    Ask a Question

Does this include hangers for the right side?

    austinessexy

    • Judging from what I have read and understand about the MAC Conversion Kit the short answer is no. You will need to purchase a hangar kit to ensure proper installment. Pypes Hangar Kit seems to work fine and is not expensive, most exhaust shops will tell you when converting to a true dual exhaust, a hangar kit is essential if you want to actually have that dual exhaust.

I have a 2000 v6 3.8L mustang. How labor intensive is putting in a whole new exhast? With my mustang just having one exhast running straight back would everything line up ok going all the way back if i were to buy the MAC duel Echast Conversion Kit? i just want to make sure im buying the right one! Thanks!

    Schnitz7

    • Yes it would I literally just got it put on today and it took my shop person 2 hours to do it looks and sounds amazing the exhaust lines up even on both sides. You have to buy the pypes hanger kit from americanmuscle along with the mac kit to have all of the parts needed. I also recommend getting a cold air intake to make it sound to its full potential. How this helped!!!

Is this California CARB (smog) legal? Do they have an identification number tag if so?

    93FoxMustang

    • This catback does not alter or move the location of the catalytic converter and will not affect emissions. The exhaust is legal for the use in California and states that have adopted their emission standards, however, it does not have a CARB OE number as it does not alter emissions.

Any HP/Torque Gains? even though it's not a complete dual exhaust, will it still have any HP/Torque gains?

    dansworld

    • Yes you will have some again but your better off adding a bama tuner kit or a better cold air intake and throttle body kit

with this set up will i be able to still attach the catalytic converter from the stock pipes?

    WilliamC

    • Yes, the MAC Dual Exhaust Conversion Kit allows reuse of the stock catalytic converters since this attached from the end of the y-pipe.

Is it possible to upgrade this to a true dual system by replacing the y pipe included in this kit with the Pypes 2.5 in. Stainless Steel Replacement Flow Tube Kit, and installing a Pypes off road x-pipe to my BBK Shorty Headers? I’m not sure if it would not line up or fit correctly

    Anthony

    • The MAC Dual Exhaust Conversion Kit includes the y-pipe because it is designed to bolt up to the factory location. It is not meant to be removed.

      Dont fit well

The y pipe wont reach the passenger side muffler, is a tight fit on that side hiting the car frame and it rattles

      MAC dual exhaust conversion

This exhaust sounds really great, nice deep growl but not super loud and no rice sound. Installation I had done by a family mechanic took about two and a half hours. It does take some time to get everything adjusted so that the pipes are not rubbing against the axle or frame. I will say the exhaust started to sound better the more I drove my car overall it was definitely worth it if you want your v6 to sound good without spending a ton of money.

      Duel exhaust conversion

The system I purchased was supposed to be complete with everything you need for the conversion. It did include all of the pipes needed, however adding another muffler it required the hanger for it which was not in the kit as well as the two hangers needed for both tailpipes. I also was surprised there were no instructions for the installationwhich would have helped. The mufflers did not fit with the origional rubber insulators so you have to improvise. All in all it took several hours but turned out to be a good system, the sound is mellow and isn't loud like the system on 5.0 V 8 .

Love it! Sounds great! Took me 4 hours because I couldn’t get the stock one off. But I had to bring it to the shop a few time because it’s been hitting the frame. But other than that, it’s worth it.

If agressive is what you want get something else.

Its nice growl when reving the engine. But when your moving you just cannot tell that it is actually making a good sound just like the stock exhaust. It does have performance increase Ofcourse acceleration in the lower rpms and the high are pretty much the same but it has breathability so it gains that power. Shop charged really high just to do this and also new spark plugs.

      Nice!

For the price it's worth,it's a pretty aggressive little catback! Not crazy loud but also far from stock which is great. As stated by others, need the hanger kit! Also, mine didn't come with nuts, just the bolts which I found irritating but wasn't too big a deal, bought some at Home Depot. In love with this combo I have with the CAI!Definitely would recommend it!

      Honest Review

Shipping was amazing we all know that about AM but what about the product? First and foremost the pypes hanging kit available here is a MUST ended up taking this to my local mechanic to install (much easier on a lift) and as others have stated it would have been much more expensive and basically not doable without the pypes kit. 100 bucks and an hour later and no real issue besides some clearance concerns that easily were adjusted. Sounds great, looks great and my mechanic who is a complete mustang fanboy LOVED this kit, had actually confused it with a Flowmaster setup at first and actually after it was all said and done commented that this was actually likely a better overall product because of the materials. BUY THIS KIT for your mustang you wont regret it. Total cost for me was a hair over 500 installed cant beat it.

      Very good and I’m impressed

When I ordered the exhaust one of the 2.5” down tube was missing so I called AM the sent the down tube 2 and a half weeks later that really got me upset so they decided to send me 2 shirts and sticker. But overall the exhaust is great had a shaking noise but I adjusted the brackets and it sounded excellent.

      Looks good, sounds good!

Perfect fit, dual exhaust changes the look of the sixer pretty drastically in my opinion. My cats are hollowed so this sounds nice and aggressive when opening up but a nice rumble at idle. Matched with my KandN CAI and BBK Shorty Headers, the car is breathing, performing, and sounding like a beast! Not bad for a v6. Couldn’t be happier!

      Awesome, but one small complaint.

I am pleased with the sound, I just don't like the fact that the muffler on the right side hangs a little low, I'm not sure if that's just a problem I had, or its just like that, I showed it to my mechanic and he said it's designed that way. Another problem is that I basically had to break it in, I live in New York and the roads are super bumpy, so whenever I ran over any small bump I heard the pipes hitting my rear axle, after driving for about a week consistently, the noise stopped. But besides these two minor complaints, I love it, looks mean and sounds perfect.

      LOVE the sound

I love the sound that this exhaust makes. You can expect some head turns and awesome look for you car. Noticeable from inside the car and kinda loud from outside. When the car get 55-75 mph get calm and quite.

      Good Deep Sound

Install was fairly easy took about 50 minutes on a lift. Looks and sounds better than expected. Only con is that occasionally you can expect exhaust rattle and you can hear in the cabin but nothing too major and that can be fixed by simply going back under and adjusting. 10/10 exhaust, sounds good in person.
