Justin: If you're the owner of a 2015 through 2020 3.5-liter EcoBoost F150 and you're looking to go big on both diameter and sound, well, then you'll wanna check out the Atlas from aFe that we're talking about here today. Now, this system will combine a massive 4-inch diameter with the aluminized steel build, and, of course, your aggressive tone, all for the mid $600 price point.Install is gonna get a middle-of-the-road two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, and take a couple of hours at most to complete from start to finish. But if you hang with me for a bit, guys, we'll walk you through that job later in the video. But as is tradition, let's just jump right into the sound you can expect with the Atlas in place. And honestly, guys, I'm a big fan. Listen, we all know the EcoBoost platform isn't the best-sounding engine ever produced. However, with the aFe in place, the tone was nice and deep, was not overly loud, and I picked up a good bit of turbo whistle during the revs which I absolutely love. So, breaking out my wake the neighbor scale, I have this system coming at a strong three out of five on my one to five, or one to wake the neighbor scale. Now, it does get a little boomy inside the cab depending on your RPM and cruising speed, but overall, I really enjoy the sound. Now, shaping that sound with this particular system will be the free-flowing 21-inch muffler here that will help absorb any high-pitch sounds or rasp, while helping to deliver that nice, deep, powerful tone, overall. But the big story here, guys, no doubt, as pointed out earlier, will be the 4-inch diameter tubing, all of it, of course, mandrel-bent, which will dramatically help increase airflow and lower backpressure. Those are two biggies whenever you're looking at a turbo application like the EcoBoost. Now, the cherry on top here will certainly be the grapefruit-shooter, as I like to call it, the 6-inch tip, which is absolutely massive and will exit in the factory location behind that passenger side rear tire. Now, in this case, you can see the tip has been given kind of this wrinkle black powder coating here, complete with the CNC-cut aFe logo. But if you're not a fan of the black tip, maybe you prefer something a little bit more traditional like a polished tip instead, aFe has you covered here with an Atlas on the site. Now, the entire system has been made from aluminized steel, which will help keep that cost down a bit compared to a full stainless option, but will be a little bit more susceptible to corrosion for owners out there who live in snowy areas who might see a lot of road salt during the winter months. So just make sure you choose carefully. And if you care about something that's gonna last the life of your rig, you might wanna consider a full stainless variant of this system instead. But now, let's shift gears and talk about the install, which, honestly, won't be that bad, overall, once you get that factory system out of the way. In my opinion, that's the most difficult part. But regardless, to give you a better idea of how this is gonna go down on your truck at home, check out our detailed walkthrough and tool breakdown right now.Man: Tool used for this install, 15-millimeter shallow socket, 17-millimeter shallow socket, 15-millimeter deep socket, 17-millimeter socket. We'll use our impact gun, as well as a ratchet.First things first, we are gonna get this factory Y-pipe uninstalled. Now, we do have an aftermarket one, so normally, your bolt would be a 13-millimeter. Ours is a 17, but that is the first step. Let's start with that. Now, I decided to make it a little bit easier on you, guys. We're gonna get our exhaust hanger off the frame here using our 10-millimeter socket. Now, after we've got our first hanger bolts out, we're gonna move on to the second one using the same 10-mill.All right. Now, once you get this hanger off here, it is gonna wanna come down. Right now is a good time to grab a buddy. However, I don't have any friends, so I'm gonna support it myself. To keep things easy, I have switched to an electric ratchet. We're gonna take the exhaust hanger off of the back end near the spare tire using a 10-millimeter socket as well. Now, when we get this top bolt, make sure you support the tailpipe because it will wanna come down on you. Support that tailpipe, get this unscrewed, and this should come on down.I know you guys thought we were done. We got one more hanger to go, it's right above the muffler. Once we get that out, the exhaust will come off the truck. Now, with that last hanger unbolted, we can now get the exhaust off the truck. Now that we have that stock exhaust pulled off, grab one of the hangers that we got from earlier, hang that up here on the front portion of it, hand-tighten that 10-millimeter bolt in, and then come back with your ratchet or impact and tighten that up.Now, grabbing your mid-pipe, hang that in the hanger. Reuse your stock hardware from the flange that we removed earlier and hand-tighten that for now. We'll come back and tighten it with our impact in a minute. Taking our 17-millimeter shallow socket and tightening that down. Grab a supplied clamp and put it on one of the ends of the muffler so we could hang that onto our mid-pipe. No need to tighten that down just yet. Grab another kit-provided clamp, pop that onto the back end of the muffler towards the tail. And we're gonna come around and take our tailpipe, and using the existing hangers, we're just gonna slide those in. With that tailpipe now in place, we're gonna take our exhaust tip and our last clamp, place that over here, and now we can go back and tighten everything down. Now with everything tightened down, that's gonna wrap it up for this install of the aFe Atlas 4-inch Single Exhaust System with Black Tip, fitting all '15 to '20 3.5 EcoBoost.
