Hey, guys. So, today, we're checking out the Barricade 4.5-inch Oval Straight End Sidestep Bars fitting all 2009 to 2014 F-150s. So, if you're looking for a side step that's gonna fill up some of that wheel to wheel space or give you a good look to the side body of your truck as well as help you out with accessibility with getting in and out of your F-150, then this set by Barricade is going to be a great choice to take a look into. So, these steps are going to have 4.5-inch large stepping surface making getting in and out of your truck for you as well as your passengers very accessible and very easy, especially if your F-150 is lifted. Now, these are going to have a large non-slip pad on the front as well as the back to give you some extra traction on those wetter days, and also add some styling in the mix. Now, what I really like about these is the fact that they're going to have a stainless steel finish. So, it's going to give a very polished and finished look to the side body of your truck and match with any other stainless accessories that you have on your F-150. As you can tell on our truck here, we have a stainless front and back bumper as well as some trim, so it really meshes well and gives the side body of the truck a great look. So, not only are these going to have the accessibility factor, but you're also getting some light protection out of these as well. These are gonna be made of a heavy-duty stainless steel material. So, they will be lightweight. They are going to sit a lot higher than some other options on the category page, giving you some clearance if you do take your truck out on any trails or any fire trails, and they are going to save the side body from any damage if you take a door ding in the parking lot, these will definitely take that blow. And they're just going to hold up to any lighter hits. Now, I would keep that protection factor in mind, if you're looking for some lighter protection and some better accessibility, then these are going to be this step for you. However, if you're doing a lot of heavy off-roading and you are taking your truck out on the worksite and are looking for something a little bit more heavy-duty, I would recommend more of a steel option. Now, in my personal opinion, I think that these look great, and they're also going to provide a lot of function out of a side step bar. With all that being said, that these are gonna come in at roughly $250, putting these at a pretty affordable price point for a set of side step bars. Now, in comparison to some other choices on the category page, some other less expensive options are usually going to come in a different finish as well as a smaller step, or they may just be setup a little bit differently with a bent end instead of a straight end like this. Now, I personally think that these look very sleek with the running board setup, as well as that polished look considering that they match a lot of trim pieces on the side of our truck. Now, when you take a look at some of the more expensive options, those are usually going to be for those more heavy-duty applications, or they might have a couple of extra bells and whistles like a drop step instead of a running board style like this. So, it really comes down to your lifestyle and your preference in design. But in my personal opinion, again, if you're looking for some very easy accessibility for your truck, a large stepping surface and a polished look, then these are going to be right up your alley. And they're also very easy to install. So, speaking of install, I'm going to give these a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, probably taking you about an hour to get done in your driveway with some very basic hand tools. So, speaking of that install, let's jump into that now. The tools that I used for this install were an impact wrench, a 13-millimeter socket, a 13-millimeter wrench, and a flat-head screwdriver. So, to kick off our install, we're going to attach our brackets first. I'd recommend to have both of the brackets for the passenger side or whatever side that you're starting on, your hardware, as well as a 13-millimeter socket and wrench, and now we can head underneath the truck. So, our first step is to attach our retainer clips. There's going to be two holes in the body right underneath our pinch weld area. We're going to slide those on and into place, and that's going to be one of our attachment points for our bracket. So, it may be helpful to grab a small flat-head and just kind of pry it open to assist it to slide on. Because these can be pretty tight considering that they're going to retain a bolt. All right. So, once that's in place, we can do the other one on the other side, making sure that the threaded part is going inside the body here. So, once those are on, what I would recommend to do is just grab one of the bolts and make sure that is going to thread correctly. And then what we can do is grab our bracket.Next, we can start to attach our bracket. So, these are going to be side-specific. So, make sure you have the correct side. We're going to align the two holes at the top and make sure the ones at the bottom at the pinch weld are aligned as well because we will be attaching it at the pinch weld too. Then we can grab our flat washer, lock washer, and bolt. These are going to be the longer bolts included in the kit. And we can thread those in. Now, you don't want to tighten those up all the way, we still need to attach the bracket to the pinch weld. So, what we can do is grab our hardware for that. It's going to be two flat washers, lock washer, and a nut on the other side. Put that up through the body, that's the flat washer, then the lock washer, then the provided nut. We can do the same thing for the other hole. So, we can repeat that same process on the rear bracket. Now, before we tighten these brackets down, we do have adjustability in the bracket so we can move it back and forth. We're going to go ahead and attach our step to make sure that our brackets and our step is in the correct position. Then we can go back and tighten everything up.So, as you can see on the bottom of our step, we're going to have two threaded holes. Those are going to be for each bracket. We're going to lay the step down on our bracket. Then we can head underneath, line them up, and secure the step to our bracket, and then we can tighten our brackets down. So, now that we're underneath the step, we're going to take our shorter bolts, lock washer, and a flat washer and thread that into our step through our bracket. We can do that for the other bracket and then we can go back and tighten everything down. All right. So, once the step is threaded in, what we can do is adjust the step, make sure that it's all the way out, or you can adjust it wherever you'd like it. We can take a 13-millimeter socket and tighten that up. Now, we can tighten down our bracket. I'm going to start with the top two using a 13-millimeter socket. Next, we can tighten down the two on the pinch weld here. This is where the 13-millimeter wrench is gonna come in handy, so we're going to put that on the back and then using the same 13-millimeter socket, we can go ahead and tighten that bolt and nut down Then we can repeat that process on the rear bracket. So, after you're finished up with this side, you can repeat that same process on the other side, and then you'll be all set to go. So, that's gonna wrap it up for my review and install. Make sure you like and subscribe. And for all things F-150, keep it right here at americantrucks.com.
