Review & Installation Video

Review & Install Video

What's going on, guys? I'm Alex from American Muscle. This is my quick view and install of the Barricade Brush Guard in Polished Stainless fitting the 2015 and 2016 F-150. So in this video, I'm going to talk about the construction and materials used with this brush guard, as well as a little bit later on the installation. But right off the bat, despite this size, I'm going to be giving this a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, and you should have this on your truck in about an hour, tops. So if you're the owner of a brand new F-150, and you're looking to maximize the protection over that of a bull bar, I would definitely suggest taking a look at this brush guard. As you're going to be offering the maximum amount of protection for your headlights and your grille from anything you might come across, be it on your daily commute, job site, or even doing some heavy-duty off-roading. So, taking a look just at the materials alone we're gonna see that this is made up of a heavy-duty stainless steel tubing which is then polished to a mirror finish. Now, in my opinion, this meshes very well with the factory trim on the F-150. But if chrome isn't your thing, you can definitely take a look at some other options on the website where we're going to have this listed in black. So the great thing about this finish on this brush guard is that it's going to hold up over time to any type of exposure to the elements. But I would add that with any type of chrome parts that you're gonna have on your vehicle it's always a good idea to wax it every now and then, just to ensure it's gonna have a great shine as well as be protected. All right guys, so taking a look at the pricing here we're going to see that this is going to fall in line right around the $500 price range, which is definitely gonna be in the middle of the road in comparison to some of the other big-name brands out there. Now they could easily tip the scales at around $1200 based on their style, finish, as well as how they're optioned. Now, for the money here, you're definitely getting away with a huge bang for the buck as you're going to be giving your truck the maximum amount of protection, protecting your headlights, your grille, and your front end either on your daily commute, running off-road, or your job site. Now, again, just to hit this home one last time, for the money here you're definitely getting away with a huge piece of equipment that's going to protect your investment from anything that you might be coming across on your daily commute. Doing some light to heavy-duty off-roading, as well as making this look that much more aggressive and different than any other F-150 you're going to be seeing on your daily commute. So taking a look at the installation here guys, just like I had said in the beginning of the video, you're gonna be looking at a pretty easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter and about one hour, tops, to get this on your truck. Now, while it's not completely necessary to have a second set of hands here to get this installed, I would definitely suggest doing it as this is gonna be a little bit on the heavier side and it's always a good idea to just have them there. All right guys, so one thing I do want to add, during the installation is that while Barricade suggests that you don't need to pull the grille to install this. I would definitely suggest taking the extra 10 to 15 minutes to do it, as getting access to the top bumper bolts for the brackets can be a little bit on the challenging side as there's only about this much space to get a hand down there. Again, take the extra 10 to 15 minutes, pop out your factory grille, and it's going to make your life that much easier when getting this on your truck. All right guys, so just to wrap things up here, I really like this option from Barricade, not only because I have a couple of their parts on my own truck, but for the fact that you're going to be getting away with a piece that not only looks tough but actually is tough. You're going to be protecting the front of your brand new truck from anything that you're going to come across on some light to heavy-duty off-roading, job site, farm, or even on your daily commute. So that's my review and install of the Barricade Brush Guard available in polished stainless fitting your 2015 and 2016 F-150 right here at americanmuscle.com.

  • The Barricade Brush Guard will add a good amount of length to the front of the truck. This may cause issues if you have limited space in your garage.

    Great product-horrible instructions

Product is nice and makes the truck a little more sinister looking. As far as the instructions, the covers for the tow hooks just snap down and pull out...you don't have to cut them as I later found out. The top bracket bolt is annoying because you can't really see it but it can be done easily without taking the bumper off. All I took off was the plastic cover on the bumper. It just snapped off with a little tug. Don't be afraid to break it. If you break the clips, just buy new ones for cheap.

    Very Nice Brush Guard.

I decided on this particular Brush Guard because it followed the new headlight design on the 2015 and newer F 150. I have a 2015 F 150 and this Brush Guard really sets off my Gem Green Truck. It was not to difficult to install, but make sure that you leave the rear bottom bumper bolts in a couple of threads and then start the front bolt and then remove the back bolt entirely and align bracket and put back in. The brackets do not have a slot in them like the tow hooks do and if you remove the lower bumper bolts the nut plate might move and you will have a heck of time getting them lined up again. Armed with a tape measure it took me awhile to get it adjusted before I tightened everything down. I did remove my grill which will give plenty of room to work in and I was able to put the grill and headlight trim back on with the Brush Guard installed. The polish job on the Brush Guard is alright. Its really shiny but you can see where it was burned in a few places and some of the welds are still blue and unpolished. All in all I think it looks awesome and I would buy another. The price is very reasonable compared to others and the best part for me is following that trim line around the headlights.

    grill guard

The look of the 2016 F150 says it all... Naturally i want to keep my truck looking amazing and protected. I was looking for a bull bar honestly and can across American Muscle see the barricade grill guard and the price. Changed my mind and im glad i did the day it was installed some wild turkeys flew in the road i hit one but if i didn't have that grill guard i would have been replacing an expensive head light fixture. Plus it gives my truck a bad *ss tough look i like it...

    Robert from Tucson Az.

Great product. Awesome price. I had a shop Install all the parts for me. They did have to get a special tool to be able to get the top brackets on the truck. They also had to cut holes through the plastic runner under the front bumper. I found that all the bolts were loose on the grill. It comes fully assembled so that is not at all good. I only knew this because I wanted to lock tie all the bolts. I get lots of compliments on the grill. It is big and, as my wife says, kinda scary.

Review from Barricade Brush Guard - Black (15-17 All, Excluding Raptor)

    Great for the price

Bottom line, this brush guard can't be beaten for the price. Included in the kit are some brackets that mount to the top end of the bumper mounts. An earlier review mentioned that these were impossible to get on, which they were. I ended up leaving them off, and I think everything will work just fine. Even without the extra brackets, the brush guard is very solid. I can stand up on it with no issues. Aesthetically, it looks great, My only gripe is the finish. There are areas with scratches and thin paint. I'm not too worried about it. Eventually I'll probably paint it with some bed liner. However, I can't knock off stars for this, because it's a great brush guard all around. Not too hard to install, solid fit, and a decent finish.

    Great guard poor instructions

Love this brush guard, only giving 4 stars due to part of instructions being difficult to understand. For the top mounts it says to remove the center bolt however upon inspection, you find there is only an inner and outer bolt. Maybe if you removed the front bumper the outer bolt is actually the middle bolt but you are not required to remove the bumper. Also note it may be actually easier to remove the bumper since getting to the outer bolt was quite difficult. I have an XL trim so maybe it's different depending on the trim level.

    The final touch...

Had spent months looking at various grille guards but couldn't find one that suited my picky sense of taste. So many of them extend too far off the vehicle in my opinion, making it look like the grille guard was not fit for the vehicle. This is by far one of the best looking grille guards I found and added that final punch in appearance to my truck after having a leveling kit installed. Price shopped and this was $50.00 less from what local companies quoted me. VERY pleased and would recommend to a friend.

    Great Guard For the Money

Really straight forward install, one trouble spot. The design requires each side to be tied to the truck in two spots. The tow hook and top of the bumper. The tow hook bolts are pretty easy to get to. The bumper mount bolt is near impossible I couldn't get to it following the instructions. They tell you you don't have to take the bumper off they only did for illustration purposes. Well you cant get more than a finger on the bolt with out removing either the grill or the bumper your option. I removed the grill took about 20 mins. Now I will tell you don't install the grill or tighten the bolt till everything is lined up and the guard is on. once your happy with everything tighten the bolt reinstall the grill and tighten everything else. Good Luck. There are two nice holes on the center bar of the guard which was nice to install my light bar!!

    Good product

I purchased the Barricade Brush Guard for my 2017 F150. The install stated it shouldn't take much more than an hour. The actual install was closer to 3-4 hours. There is multiple trim pieces and the grill must be removed on the truck. I also had an issue with the product during shipping but the company corrected that issue after I reached out to them when the item did not arrive on time. Overall though the product looks good on my vehicle.

    1 Hour- right.....

The tales of an hour install are a little exaggerated. Watch the 'how to remove the tow hooks' and 'how to remove the grill videos' on YouTube. Although the instructions with the poor-to-read illustrations say don't remove grill, it is a 5 minute job that will pay off huge dividends and cut you cussing down significantly. The product is great, shipper (UPS freight) terrible, unseen damage inside the box.

    Nice Addition

I gave this 3 stars because the tech at our local dealer that installed said this did not fit as it should have and had a gap in the front....they had to do a modification to the grill of my son's truck (cut out a notch on both sides) in order for it to sit flush and it took them ALL afternoon. Not happy with that but it looks great and adds a nice touch to his 16 XL F150
