    Review & Install Video

Hey I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com and this is my brief overview of the Bassani street race axle-back exhaust fitting all 2011 and newer Mustang GTs. This kit from Bassani gets its name by introducing these two straight through race mufflers, which are very similar to the Magnaflow competition series. The two benefits of using these mufflers are a very free flowing exhaust which is going to free up some power, and a very aggressive exhaust note especially when compared to stock. This axle-back features 3” mandrel bent tubing flowing right into that race muffler and out this slash cut 4” polished tip. Both the tip, and the race muffler itself are embossed with that Bassani logo. Since this is only an axle-back versus a full catback, the install should be a lot easier, really it should only take you about an hour. Now let’s hear how the Bassani street race axle-back sounds compared to our factory exhaust.

Aggressive exhaust note. Bassani's Axle-Back with it's street performance race mufflers will give your 2011-2014 GT Mustang a more aggressive exhaust note, than that of the stock GT.

Street performance. This Axle-Back system from Bassani features free flowing street performance race mufflers that end with a 4" rolled edge slash cut polished stainless tip that exits in the stock location for great looks and improved performance.

Lifetime Warranty. The Bassani Axle-Back exhaust is precision-engineered from resilient stainless steel for long lasting durability and is backed by Bassani's Lifetime Warranty.

Application. This Axle-Back exhaust system will fit the 2011-2014 GT Mustangs for great looks and great sound.

      Amazing sound/tone

I went from heartthrobs to these in hopes of toning down the rasp since I had removed my cats, after the install which took 30-45 mins started it up and the tone was completely different no rasp and a deep rumble at idle but roar when banging the gears. They also lower the inside volume of the exhaust but still loud if I let someone do a few fly-bys for you. (Who you trust to drive your stang)

      Bassani axle back

American Muscle got them shipped right away, so I got them when I was expecting. The exhaust did not fit so I had to cut down the adapter pipe to make it work. Install was about an hour like AM says it is. Pipes sound great, but they drone really bad at 1900-2000 rpm. Not sure if I will leave them on and change exhaust from cats back or try something different. Kind of sucks when you spend that much money.

      Grandpa Exhaust lmao

These Axelbacks are top notch quality! Ive had heartthrob axelbacks for awhile now but they didnt have a nice tip. Im picky i know... Lol. My boss recommend either Bassani or Kooks to me awhile back so i ordered these and i love them. I said Grandpa exhaust because it such a deep performance sounding exhust. Good deep startup then it mellows out. Just cruising you can barely hear it thumping just like a boss 302 or really heavily modded GT. Nothing obnoxious about these. Until you smash the gas! Then these Bassani howl!!! Seriously its an awesome distinct sounding exhaust!!!

      Excellent exhaust for the coyote!!

I'm running this axle back with Jegs cat deletes and the stock resonators. Very impressed with this exhaust, great quality and fit and finish! The sound is one of the best I've heard on the new 5.0 The tone is very very deep with no rasp and no cackling, just a deep aggressive rumble!! Even with the cat deletes this exhaust isn't obnoxiously loud, definitely louder than stock, but still suitable for a daily driver. I have read other reviews that suggest this axle back has a lot of drone, for me that's just not the case. There is a very slight drone at times, but isn't present through a broad rpm range! Give these a shot, you definitely won't be disappointed!!!

      Overall Product

I researched exhausts for a while and have always like the Bassani sound ever since having an 89 Mustang 5.0. The install took an hour longer than expected getting the old axle-back exhaust off the hangers. I read recommendations to unbolt the exhaust completely off the mid-pipe but I found that by just loosening it allows the axle-back exhaust to be muscled on without the hassle of reconnecting and alignment. This only allows the person to jack up each side of the car for a few minutes while the remaining axle-back exhaust can be installed with the car on the ground. I also found it easier to remove the exhaust hangers, pull the old exhaust off the rubber mount, and re-attach them to the car. The very back hanger will have to be removed, attached to the exhaust and bolted back onto the car since the hanger bar attached to the Bassani axle-back exhaust is a few inches longer that the hanger on the stock muffler. Overall the sound is amazing, (depending on your rear end gearing) when cruising there is a good sound around 2,000 RPM so if you like to drive between 70-75 MPH it has a good loud tone. I like this exhaust since it gives the car a modern aggressive sound with some undertones from an old American Muscle street rod.

The exhaust note and volume was exactly as I expected and is just the right volume for daily driving and performance when you need it.

Bassani Street Race Axle-Back Exhaust (11-14 GT)

Sounds great, very mean sounding and definitely not overbearingly loud unless you're opening it up which sounds incredible. Little bit of drone at 2,000RPM but nothing too bad. Overall great exhaust!

      Great axle back

Having own a sn-95 mustang had bassani cat back, so I purchased this axle back not disappointed great deep muscle tone and sounds very aggressive. Really wakes the mustang up. Installation wasn't hard at all given I work at a dealership so the use of a lift made things easier, but if done on the ground be prepared to break a sweat will take more than an hour. Overall great product the finish is awesome and the tone will make heads turn videos do not do justice for when heard in person.

Easy to install, sounds great. It does have a drone at 2000 RPM but goes away at 2200. Its a little pricey but worth it.

      Great Sounding Mufflers

Overview: -Look great -Sound mean -Very little drone -Very little rasp -Easy to install -Highly Recommended. I bought these for my twin turbo setup to have a straight through muffler. Here's my exhaust setup before the axle-backs: -Stainless Works Long Tubes -JBA Offroad H Pipe -JPC Resonator Delete Over-The-Axle Pipes No cats, no resonators, and with a straight through muffler, I figured the volume would be horrendous. I had a chance to drive the car with them on before starting the build. They are loud, don't get me wrong. Much louder than the GT500's that were on prior, but mostly under heavy acceleration and cold startup. Once it warms up it quiets down a significant amount. I was very concerned with drone, but I was very impressed to find there was very little. On a scale of 1-10, it was a 2 or 3 at cruising speed. For not having cats or resonators, these do an excellent job in minimizing rasp, so the sound is quite awesome. Enough to put a smile on my face every time I stand on it. They fit very well and went on quite easily in my garage just using a jack and jackstands in about 2 hours. I would highly recommend these.

      look great sound great

these axle backs get rid of the bean shooter exhaust and giant muffler installed by Ford. Looks great with the 4" polished double wall tips and sounds great too. Not wake your neighbors up type of scream at start up but when you hit the loud pedal it really opens up.

      poor fitment

i got this exhaust for my 2012 gt. i took it to the muffler shop to install it and they would not fit right. the hangers were to long, the connector pipe was long to. so they had to cut the hangers and they also had to shorten the connector pipe so it can fit properly. i ended up paying another 220 bucks to make it fit. i do not recommend this product.

We definitely haven't heard of these fitment issues in the past. I've very sorry the shop had to tweak it to fit properly. If you ever run into an issue with a product, please do contact us immediately so we can do everything we can to help rectify the situation.

Great sound and great quality at a bargain price.

First off, let me say how much I hated taking off the stock axlebacks. I've never had a car where the axlebacks were such a PITA to remove. The Bassani axlebacks are fantastic. They are not only built well, but they look gorgeous. The axlebacks are quiet upon initial install, but they have gained sound over the couple of weeks since they have been installed. Not anything extreme, either. The offer a really nice muscle car rumble without drone. That was one of the key aspects of the system for me before I purchased it. The stainless steel is also gorgeous looking. All in all, this is a great product at a bargain price. I can't see paying a few hundred more for something like the Borla system at all. Not the way this is priced.

      Terrible Drone

I am experiencing terrible drone with the Bassani Axle Backs. My car is a 2013 GT with 3.73 gears. The exhaust drone is unbearable at highway speeds, it is so bad that I will be taking these back off the car.

Most people have mentioned a slight drone or none at all so this is somewhat surprising to see. Changing out your midpipe is another way to alter the exhaust note and has helped others with drone in the past. If you'd like any further assistance, please don't hesitate to give our customer service a call.

      why get anything else?

I had a magnaflow street axle back on the car when I bought it, then I installed American Racing long tube headers and their non-catted X pipe and the car still didn't have the exhaust note I was looking for. Then I got the bassani street race axle back, OH MY GOD, what a difference. It now sounds like a race car, and there is no drone anywhere in the R.P.M. range. I have to say this is the best sounding mustang I have ever heard, bar none. The best part is the bassani axle back is almost $300 cheaper than the Magnaflow. So if you want a quiet car DON'T get the Bassani axle back, if you want the best sound you can get for not a lot of money, then buy this axle back. BASSANI RULES.

Nice axleback...not too loud at idle.but when you get into it, all ---- breaks loose..slight drone around 2000 rpm but not much. Very nice fit and the tips look nice with the bassani logo. Took me about two hours by myself to install..

      Great sound

I actually waited a bit to write this. I had an 09 Mustang with a Bassani axle back on it and while it is understandable the sound seemed so different from that car I had to decide how much I really liked it. It seems to have gotten a bit deeper then when I first installed it and there is no drone that I can really tell at any RPM. I always liked it but after a month and I have I am really happy with the way it sounds now. Basaani again makes another great product. The install was't bad after I got the first one out and I did it right on the ground with the car jacked up. I am very happy with these axle backs.
