How to Install BBK Variable Timing Adjuster Crank Pulley Kit (99-03 Lightning; 02-03 Harley Davidson) on your Ford F-150

Installation Time

1 hours

Step 1. Disconnect (-) neg. battery terminal.

Step 2. Working from under the vehicle, remove the four (4) bolts attaching the a/c compressor to the engine and carefully lower to allow access to the stock crank trigger p/u.

Step 3. Unplug the electrical connector from the trigger p/u and remove the one (1) bolt attaching it to the engine. Carefully pull straight out on the trigger p/u to remove it from the engine.

Step 4. Remove the large center bolt attaching the crank pulley to the crankshaft.

Step 5. Position the timing wheel assembly into the crank pulley making sure the tab on the wheel mounting surface engages the keyway in the crank pulley and is seated fully flush to the pulley.

Step 6. Reinstall the pulley bolt through the timing wheel and tighten to factory specifications.

Step 7. Install the trigger p/u into sliding mount using the supplied washer and screw, leave the o-ring on the trigger to keep the trigger centered in the mounting hole.

Step 8. Install supplied o-ring to the groove on the engine mount portion of the bracket and install into the engine using the stock bolt while holding the sliding portion to allow the bolt to simultaneously attach the two (2) mounting brackets together and hold them to the engine.

Step 9. Tighten the screw snugly to allow the position of the trigger p/u to be moved to line up to the center of the timing wheel when viewed from the side. Once aligned, tighten the screw fully.

Step 10. Make sure the timing mark is lined up with the zero and be sure the four (4) mounting/adjusting screws are tight before starting vehicle.

Step 11. Reinstall the a/c compressor bolts, trigger plug and the neg. battery terminal. To adjust the timing simply loosen the four (4) screws on the timing wheel face and rotate the outer toothed wheel to desired position and tighten the four (4) screws.
