I own a 2001 v6 manual mustang and my gauge cluster lights won't turn on (I'm thinking it's going to to be the fuse). Do I have to fix the fuse in order for the reverse glow to work ? And will have instructions on how to connect it ?

        • Yes, you will need to fix the fuse if that is the issue. These inserts run off the same power line as the stock gauges, so if they aren't lighting up, these won't either. If you are referring to instructions on how to install these inserts, yes. American Muscle has some on the website.

Do these run off of the same light bulbs in the cluster now or will these make those not run anymore?

        • These lights replace the stock lights in your cluster.

I would like to buy this for my mustang but would like the white numbers to stay white at night when my lights are on i seen some where blue and some where green how would I make them stay white

Would it be possible to use the GT v8 version (that goes up to 160) instead of the v6 version, or would the needle be misrepresenting the speed?

        • Your speedometer would not be calibrated to the GT's speed markings, and speed displayed would be incorrect.

I have a 2003 V6 and the face won’t light up. I can see from the side that behind the cluster the bulbs are on, but the new gauge face won’t light up. The warning lights and odometer come on but not the gauges, did I wire something wrong?

            Great product

Very easy to install just takes some time. Looks great once everything is set up right, make sure the overlay lays flat. I had a problem where the needle wouldn’t move so I taped it down in sports you couldn’t see once you put cover over top. Tap into the thick grey wire, have a good ground. I didn’t use the dimmer just cut it off and twisted them together and taped them. Good product to make your new edge look way better.

            Looks great in the dash

I love how it looks. The blue lighting looks great at night. Only complaint I would ever have is that there is a middle highlight marker one some of the dials. But I believe you can maybe add that in yourself.

product didn't work out of the box

I wired it according to the instructions no lights, I used a meter and checked the voltage and was getting 12 volts all the way to the gauge faces and still no lights.

Really like the new look my dashboard has. Easy to install as well, had to splice a wire but nothing too hard

            Junk

The gauge panels would wouldn't light up all the time,I'd be driving down the road and all of a sudden I didn't have any gauge lights. I pulled the instrument cluster out and tested all the connections they all checked out. I replaced the cluster and they worked for a day and then went out again they worked when they wanted

Big improvement, but a little TOO bright.

Install was fairly easy, but I had the wire that feeds the gauges come loose and need to go back in and fix it. Also, when I dim these lights to the correct level, my other instrument lights (heater, for example) are too dim. Also, when the blue numbers are dim enough, the red needles are too dim. But it looks like these are controlled by separate wires, so when I fix my shorted gauge wire, I might put in a resistor to tone down the blue a little and balance it out. Just need to find out what wattage and resistance to use.

            Somewhat easy to install

It’s easy to install, I don’t like the separate dimmer dial. I tried to wire it to the headlight knob dimmer and the gauges wouldn’t glow at all so I reattached the original dimmer it came with and it worked fine. I just taped their knob above the steering column so I could squeeze my fingers in and adjust if I need. They do look really good once in and lit.

            Very Nice

There is a dimmer dial in the kit that the instructions don't say anything about, it doesn't tell you where to put it nor is there any holes around it to bolt it to something. So what I did was cut it off and use scotch lock connectors to splice the positive of the whole thing to the dimmer wire from the stock dimmer and ground it on a bolt behind the dash, it has the same effect as if I kept the dimmer it came with on and wired it how it wanted me to wire it.

            Black Face Reverse Glow Gauge

This product really brought life back into the inside of my car. Install was quick and easy. The only problem i have now is that my speedometer needle gets stuck sometimes so i have to adjust the fit so it doesnt.

            Not too shabby

When I got it I was a bit hesitant on how well it would look since its three seperate pieces but it ended up looking absolutely great. It's a bit hard to get it over the gauge needles but nothing compared to new pedals. The wiring isn't bad at all, just one white to headlights and ground to the metal pipe behind. Only mildly annoying thing is that one of the wires blocks a screw but still. For the price its absolutely amazing. Lights look great too!

            Nice Gauge Insert

This definitely improves the dashboard and is much better than the stock look and the bluish light is a lot better looking at night instead of the green stock color. In my opinion, the blue backup lighting is a better look and choice instead of the green...good deal.

Definitely worth the money and chanahed the way it looks instead of the ugly stock green. Had a little problems with putting the box somewhere and the wiring because it doesn't stay but we made it work

            Looks great!

I love it. It shines a bright blueish-white color, and has a much more readable font than the stock gauges. One thing wrong: It's extremely difficult to position correctly without rubbing up against one of the needle bases. My tac stuck a lot at first, and I wound up having to use an X-acto knife to trim it down.

            Very good product

It's a great way to make your instrument cluster appear much cleaner and stylish but the installation is a bit more complicated than the site description. Make sure you have a soldering gun and that you can solder wires together well. Other than that no problems
