        Black Mamba hood

I wanted to keep my 2011 front end on my mustang so I went with this hood due to the ram air had a vent. I orded the hood and it came nicely packaged. I was very happy with the overall quality. I installed the hood pins as this is fiberglass and could pull away so I wanted to be safe. Hood pin was for a Shelby but I made it work. I had it painted at a custom paint shop. waiting to get it back on how it turned out. stay tuned.

Another damaged hood replacement project turns out fantastic.

The new hood arrived in 3 days. My repair shop said that with the exception of a slight wave in the fiber glass, in front of the scoop, the hood was of excellent quality. My paint guy said he could smooth it out by the way he applied the paint. The extra prep approximately $50 was worth it, as it is now smooth as glass. My new hood looks even better than I expected. I have gotten a lot of “Love the Hood” comments. This hood has it all. Great looks, functional heat extractors and Ram Air with a grill to keep unwanted debris out of the engine bay.

Great hood but needs a lot of prep

I got this hood after my original hood was damaged in a wreck. Because the OEM hood costs ~$1,500, I decided this was the perfect opportunity to upgrade. The repair shop was already going to install and paint SOME hood; so, why not this one? Problem was that the first one came in with a broken corner. The second one came in with hairline cracks and wavy portions throughout. The estimate from my shop was 12 hours to do all of the prep work to get the hood paint-ready. To AM's credit, they credited me the FULL cost of the shop estimate. AM is a great dealer to buy from because they always take care of you. Just beware of the prep work if you're a DIYer. As for the looks, it is fantastic. The functional ram air is what really sold me on this hood vs the Cervini hoods. I love the look of the carbon fiber hood vents (optional extra), and I have gotten a lot of great feedback on it.

Does water get into engine through heat extractor? Does water get into engine through heat extractor?and does it harmful for engine

      • In a torrential down pour you may notice some water entering from the front of the hood. This should not harm anything. Your intake will be sealed off and that is the only part that should be protected from water.

What happens when it rains ? Might be a silly question but here I go anyway.I see some torrential downpours here in the summer time and was wondering what happens when water gets into the engine compartment through the heat extractors?

      • As long as the intake is kept dry, some water getting into the engine bay should not be a problem. This hood is designed more for cars that will be driven in fair weather conditions. Some customers have blocked these extractors to try to keep all water out.

Do the vents come with the hood or is that a extra pay? Reason why I am confused is that is says "Add optional hood vents" and in the pictures i see the vents already installed. So?

      • The hood comes with standard hood vents. The optional hood vents give you the choice to add another custom feel if you wish to do so. You can purchase the additional vents in either Carbon Fiber or a Billet option. They are not required but will give you another way to step away from the crowd by having out of the norm vents! Great looking hood though - you can't go wrong with any of the options!

Will water get into ram intake on hood and harm my engine? Causing it to possible hydro lock from water being sucked up from aftermarket cold air intake?

      • There is a chance of water going in the BMC Black Mamba II Hood vents yes. However, for this to happen you would need to drive through a very large puddle submerging your front end or if the water was sprayed directly into the vent.
