Very happy with the fit and finish; easy install. Definitely a little more power, but the biggest improvement for me was the throttle response.Helpful (4)

This item looks like it belongs under the hood, it matches the engine perfectly. What I like the most is I can keep the strut tower brace. Some of the other manufacturers make you remove it completely.Helpful (5)

98 Cobra Install
Recently installed this on my 98 Cobra. Took about 45min-1hr. Hardest part was getting the bolt in by the heat shield. Looks way better over the stock setup and you can hear the intake as well. Worth the money. Didn't really fell to much in performance as this and a catback are my only mods. Throttle response does feel better.Helpful (3)

Cold air intake
My stock intake was made from plastic. Did not fair well to the zex nitrous. So had to get a new one and americanmuscle had what I needed. This one was made like a tank hooked up the NOZ and been running like a charm. And it looks great to.Helpful (4)

Saved The Day !
The flexible attachment on this cold air intake allowed unit to be pushed down under strut brace on my 97 Cobra. An experienced mechanic can install this unit in one hour. It took me longer because I had to figure things out. My Cobra now has 1) caster-camber plates, 2) strut brace, 3) new cold air intake, 4) new lower control arm bushings, 5) new ball joints, 6 ) new outer tie rods 6) new struts and shocks, and 7) an alignment featuring 5 degrees caster. My car is not lowered, so I suspect 5 degrees caster may not be available on a lowered car. By the way, the car drives extremely well with good directional stability. Roll Tide !!Helpful (6)

Fits really well on the car and not that difficult to install. Kind of a tight fit with how long the filter is but a little finesse and it drops right in.Helpful (5)

C L Cold Air Intake Upgrade
I like the extra gain and the over all appearance matches the cobra intake nice !!Helpful (6)
I am concerned about intake noise...while I want the performance I don't want to compromise drivability. I'm an older guy so making a lot of noise and attracting attention is not my priority. As this install involves removing the intake noise baffle how noticeable is the intake noise in the cabin?
While this should be a bit louder than the intake you likely are currently running this should not be a drastic change in sound and we would not consider this to produce too much cabin noise.
Will this fit the 2001 Bullitt? I want the elbow for my car and they used to have the same number from C L.
Unfortunately this C&L Cold Air Intake is designed specifically for the 96-98 Cobras and will not fit a 01 Bullitt.
What size is the outlet on the filter. Needing to know to replace filter. Thanks
The filter included in your C&L Cold Air Intake with 80mm MAF should have the 3.5mm opening, however we recommend removing the filter and verifying this, as this kit has gone through several changes throughout the years C&L has offered it.
my engine bay has a red theme going in color. I notice the two rubber seals on the intake are blue but the inside is colored red. can the seal be turned inside out to show the red instead of the blue seal. I show the car and would like to know if this is possible. thanks.
The C&L Cold Air Intake w/ 80mm MAF would not allow you to flip the couplers inside and out.
what kind of hp gains are there with this CAI, how does it compare to JLT in hp
Both C&L and JLT will be pretty close to the same at around 20-25 horse power from their intakes!
The coupler on the C&L Cold Air Intake will easily accommodate the 65MM Throttle body. In order to easy installation, we recommend using a silicone spray lubricant, allowing the coupler to soak in hot water, or a combination of the two.
The C&L Cold Air Intake is designed to attach directly to the OEM throttle body, or aftermarket throttle bodies. The coupler will have enough stretch to install on both stock and aftermarket.
This would have the ability to be used with nitrous, however, it would not be able to work with a kenne bell supercharger as they require their own cold air intake specific for the compressor. The 65mm throttle body will work with this with the use of a step down coupler.
This oil filter comes pre-oiled and will not need to be oiled prior to installation.
The C&L CAI will fit just fine with a strut tower brace.
