Review & Install Video

Hi I’m Justin with, and I’m breaking down a very useful product from Covercraft thanks to their trunk pocket pod fitting all 2010 and newer Mustangs. If you’re like me and the slightest sign of clutter in your car drives you nuts, then the pocket pod from covercraft is definitely worth a closer look. This product features several different pockets that allow you to store a wide variety of items. From tools and first aid kits, to detailing supplied and whatever else you’d like to keep organized in your trunk. Covercraft is always known for their quality products and the pocket pod is no different, it starts off as a molded ABS plastic panel, and then is wrapped with a dark charcoal fabric which matches the factory carpet perfectly. In addition each edge has been finished off with this quality binding, and each pocket features these two secure clasps, ensuring whatever is stored in the pocket pod remains in the pocket. The best part is, this product installs easily without the need for any drilling instead using the factory style push fasteners. You’ll simply want to remove the factory carpet on your trunk lid first, and then reattach the pocket pod using the included fasteners. When it’s all said and done, you should be able to have this product installed in about 15 minutes. We all know the Mustang is a sports car and not a parts hauler, with that said, storage space isn’t always easy to come by, well with the help of Covercraft’s pocket pod trunk organizer, you can help keep your trunk and interior clean and clutter free.

Convenient. Keep your personal belongings from rattling around your trunk and add additional storage at the same time with a Covercraft Pocket Pod. The 2005-2009 Mustang Pocket Pod features three storage pockets that are perfect for keeping items such as manuals, first aid kits, emergency tools, a tire pressure gauge, or any other items that you want to store out of the way, yet easily accessible. Each pod is approximately 9" x 5"x 2.5".

High Quality Construction. The 2005 to 2009 Mustang Pocket Pod features three pockets that each have a lid with a secure closure latch. The Pocket Pod is made with a rigid heat-shaped backed panel and finished with a dark charcoal felt fabric to blend with your interior. And best of all, this high quality product is custom patterned, engineered, and Made in the USA, just like your Mustang, to ensure superior quality.

No Drill Installation. Pocket Pods do not require any drilling, utilizing the existing features of your trunk lid for a quick and easy installation with supplied 3M automotive tape.

Application. This Covercraft Pocket Pod is designed to fit all 2005 to 2009 Mustangs.

Ask a Question

I currently have two Kicker L7's in my trunk pushing about 2000 watts and I noticed that the pocket pod is mounted by tape. I am a little nervous that it won't hold up to the vibrations of the sound system. Has anyone with a sound system had to return it or provided negative feedback in regards to this?

  • The Covercraft Pocket Pod's can hold up to minimal vibrations that occur from standard speakers and road vibrations, however, if the pocket pods are holding heavier objects and there is excessive vibrations, such as from sub-woofers, the velcro can come off.

Attachment: One user said he had to use a silicone to help attach. Another site said attached w clips. Clips or tape? Very hot in Ga, wondering abt use of tape. And, I have a factory subwoofer box on R side. Is that a problem? thanks

  • This will work with the factory subwoofer without an issue and this would also install using 3M tape.

Will this product fit a 2007 Mustang Convertible? I don't see this mentioned anywhere. Are the pockets large enough to hold the Owner's Manual?

  • The Covercraft Pocket Pod will fit your 2007 convertible and I can tell you the size of each pocket is approximately 9" x 5"x 2.5".

    Pocket pod

Works great easy to install and the Heat did not effect the tape it is held in with. We will see how it winters the cold in storage.

There is nothing to fasten up on the deck lid but sticky tape. I cleaned and used alcohol pads on surfaces for it to stick. But when the temperature outside is too hot, 89 degrees with added weight in the pocket, sticky tape just peel off. Buyers beware.

    Not good

It wont fit gtcs, had to make some adjustments. Also for 07 model there are no holes to push in thr pins. It will stick go the trunk, whixh is not that sturdy as we think

    It will fall off

It a good idea if it had better support. The sticker on the back doesn't stay on. I came up my own idea to keep it on.

I bought this product from AM a while ago for my 2006 Mustang GT and just installed it a few nights ago. My stang has 482 RWHP and is loaded but still my "daily driver." This unit is perfect for those small, miscellaneous items like basic tools, those microfiber cloth's, that can of brake fluid, etc. You get the idea. The additional storage is great and allows you to keep the trunk clean and organized; a very practical, space-saving product that looks cool. The quality appears to be good, the fit perfect and install simple. We'll see how it handles while shifting throughout the power band! Definitely recommend this product for anyone looking to organize their truck area while gaining some storage space!

Gets some of the junk off the trunk floor

I read some of the reviews before I purchased this and found most of them to be true. I've been thinking about getting one of these and I finally did. I wish they would have made this about 3 or 4 inches wider, there's plenty of room to do this. You have to be very selective in what you put in the compartments, but overall I like it. Hint, if you open each compartment when you are sticking it on, you can push directly on the sticky pads to secure them to your trunk lid.

    Pocket Pod

Adds the necessary extra room in the trunk for small items. Make sure it is lined up before pressing it to the trunk.

    gives extra storage space

The installation of the pod was a breeze. The pocket pod does not have a lot of room to store stuff, can only put about 3lbs in each section, but definitely a nice piece to store some smaller items if you have extra stuff in your glove boxes like a tuner, flashlights, tire pressure gauges, shop towels, etc.... definitely happy with this purchase

I am very pleased with the end results. I did, however, want the storage pockets installed over the existing trunk liner. I went to the local hardware and purchased 10 fasteners that were longer than the original ones. Installation went easy and looks great.

    Worked but didn't fit right

Looks good but install took to long and required extra material. The light wiring in the trunk put to much pressure on it and it wouldn't stick to the trunk. It kept coming off. Solution was to buy 3m tape and build it up so it could reach the trunk and relieve the pressure. I had to do this on the top right and the top middle two. Now it works ok

    Pocket Pod

Very simple install. Wish the pockets were a little larger, they cannot hold a glass cleaner spray bottle. I use it to hold some cleaning supplies, one use wipes and microfiber clothes, and hopefully a smaller pulley for my dream supercharger. Overall awesome purchase. Gives you the ability to store items in place that usually has no use and covers the metalwork of the trunk lid.

    Scale of 1 - 10, give it an 8.5

The fit is pretty good, but there's a lot of space that doesn't make contact with the trunk lid. I compensated for this by using silicone from an industrial sized tube and caulking gun to fill in those areas that weren't making contact with the trunk lid; worked like a charm! That being said, the areas that do make contact fit very well and the two sided tape and epoxy included adheres very well. I installed it in literally 10-15 minutes including the prep work. Looks great and holds things outta the way like radio remotes, manuals, etc.

    Pocket Pod Tape Failure

Followed the directions to prep the trunk with soap/vinegar/water and then wiped the contact areas with alcohol followed by just water and microfiber towel. Applied the adhesive promoter and waited about 5 minutes per the directions. Bottom three pieces of 3M tape stuck hard immediately, but the upper pieces kept giving way. Even used a set of clamps and wedges to hold the top in place for 24 hours and the entire set of top pieces of 3M tape came loose again after driving. Nothing was in the pockets to add weight. Seems like the wiring harness adds outward pressure to separate the top from making good contact? Took the whole thing off my car now! Might try wider 3M tape for better contact areas?

    • Response from AmericanMuscle

If the light harness is pushing the top of the pod, I'd recommend relocating it to one of the sides to relieve some of the pressure and try using some new 3M on the upper portion. That should help fix the problem. If you still are having trouble, do give us a call so we can assist you further!

I bought this so I can store a few little things in the back, I have a first aid kit, road flares, and other little things. It fits perfect and gives the little extra room so things are not bouncing around the trunk. I recommend for everyone

    Great little compartment

It didn't take long to install and it did wonders for my girlfriend's car. No more little things rolling around in the trunk, we just put them in the pocket pod.
