Hey, Stephanie with AmericanMuscle.com, and this is my review of The Driveshaft Shop's carbon fiber one-piece driveshaft for 2015 and '16 GTs.A carbon fiber one-piece driveshaft is going to be for any S550 owner that's looking to strengthen their driveline and drop some weight while they're at it. The 2015 Mustang still comes from factory with a two-piece driveshaft, which is going to inherently have some weaknesses. A big thing to call out here would be that the DSS driveshaft is going to be much lighter. We know that the stock driveshaft weighs roughly 33 pounds, and I have the scale to measure this carbon fiber version, which looks like it weighs right around 26 pounds. Now keep in mind that we do have the adapter plate on this guy, which is going to add a little bit of weight to this. The weight savings here should mean improvements such as faster revs, better throttle response, and less vibrations or clunking during driving.And looking at these driveshafts, I can tell you that I like the trans end for the manual version because it has a hearty flange with a solid-looking U-joint, and I like that the differential end for both options has a nice CV-joint that's going to be more stable than other options, like a slider. Another thing I like is the carbon fiber. The carbon fiber version is going to be lighter than even the aluminum one-piece driveshaft, and I know it's more expensive, between $1,300 and $1,400, but I think a carbon fiber driveshaft is nicer because of the way the material reacts to hard driving. It gives more of a torsional twist, way more than a stock driveshaft, and even more than the aluminum one-piece driveshaft, but without any kind of reverse snap. And, ultimately, the construction of this driveshaft and the carbon fiber should reduce the shock on other drivetrain components. If we were going to rate the driveshaft options, I'd have it go something like this: your stock one at the bottom, the aluminum one-piece next, followed by the top guy, which is this carbon fiber one. Now, with all of that being said, DSS rates this driveshaft as being capable of handling up to 1,000 horsepower.I would figure on about two hours for the install and about one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. You do have to drop your exhaust for the install, and you will need a handful of different socket sizes and hex sockets, and a hammer might be helpful, but you really want to make sure you have a torque wrench for this install so you can torque down your adapter plate and driveshaft insert.Again, the carbon fiber one-piece driveshaft from The Driveshaft Shop does cost a pretty penny, but I think it's a great mod that will both change a stock S550 and is a must-have to support more power down the road. It's at the top of my list for driveshaft options, but, as always, check this thing out online and see what you think for yourself. Had dealer install.Excessive vibration even when reindexing. Going to put factory shaft back on car. The packaged box didn't come with install sheet. Called DSS and they emailed me one. Dealer tech going to go over his install one more time and if vibration persists I'm going to have to ship it back....ugh! I guess I just got a bad shaft. AM and DSS have been very helpful. I order from AM all the time and continue to do so. 2015 GT with Roush supercharger. I don't go to the strip.Helpful (10)

vibrates and makes annoying sound
have a 2016 5.0 mustang with 4,000 miles with whipple supercharger i bought this driveshaft just to protect my car after reading in forums that original shaft breaks . had dealer install this and yes you can feel quicker response but at 80mph it starts to vibrate and makes a annoying sound called DDS they told me to rotate it in an other ´position tried that same problem now they want me to send this back and i have to pay $425 to ship this from were i live installed the OEM and no problem my theory is it will always vibrate that is why oem comes in 2 piece to avoid that but i want my car to drive flawless with no vibrationHelpful (8)

The weight difference is very noticeable. Installation is not difficult. The hardest part is removing the original driveshaft. Noticeable smoothness and acceleration improvement, especially after Power Pack 3 installation. No vibration or noise issues.Helpful (9)

Driveshaft works perfectly
Installed the driveshaft on my 2016 Roush and it is perfect. No vibrations or clunking at all. It was a job to install, but not that difficult.Helpful (10)

My mustang is a 2015 automatic I have a Roush supercharger in it and 20 inch wheels. I wanted to install this for a while and finally did. WOW the car feels so smooth and when you give it gas and put your foot in it the car reacts more quickly. I love it. no vibration or noise, Just flats out rocks and engine works less hard to get going from a dead stopHelpful (13)

Fit is perfect no issues what so ever. Noticeable gains in acceleration overall better feel. However, their claims of absorbing vibrations and rotational harmonics has been totally false in my application "2015 GT Conv." I did the recommended re-indexing 180deg. DS first order vibration issue remains in my case between 50-60mph. Spoke with DSS they are saying its an issue with the car not the shaft and that there has been other reports of this issue. I re-installed OE driveshaft and have no vibration issues which DSS is saying is simply being absorbed by the two piece shaft. Im not sure what to do or where to go to have this issue resolved.Helpful (22)

Will these fit a 2018 GT w/ Auto?
Unfortunately, we have not yet confirmed fitment for The Driveshaft Shop 3.8 in. Carbon Fiber One Piece Driveshaft (15-17 GT w/ Automatic Transmission) with the 2018 Models.
Will this fit a v6 mustang if not any other driveshafts you would recommend?
The The Driveshaft Shop 3.8 in. Carbon Fiber One Piece Driveshaft is designed specifically for GT's with an automatic transmission, and would not work for the V6. At this time we do not offer any V6 driveshafts.
Are there any comparison information for 0-60 times or any other performance measurements before and after adding this driveshaft?
Hello, Seeing as though every vehicle is minutely different any statistics you may find may not be entirely accurate. We do not have any specs for this particular set up.
IIRC Carbon fiber does not like 300 F heat and can de-laminate... The 2015's exhaust runs pretty close to the drive shaft. (you actually have to drop the cat back to install a drive shaft) Will this carbon fiber drive shaft be able to withstand the heat in stop and go "rush hour" traffic in a DD?
The Driveshaft Shop Carbon Fiber One Piece Driveshaft - Automatic (15-17 GT) should work just fine in stop and go daily driving traffic. The heat should not have an affect on this driveshaft.
