How to Install E & G Fine Mesh Upper Grille Insert w/ Q Side Bars - Chrome (09-14 All, Excluding Raptor) on your Ford F-150

1. Apply masking tape to the painted edge of the hood surround-ing the grille as shown.


2. Open the hood and use a 10mm socket and ratchet to remove the outer two (2) hex nuts securing the top of the factory grille to the hood. 


3. Use a 10mm socket and ratchet to remove the inner four (4) hex nuts securing the top of the factory grille to the hood. 


4. Use a 10mm socket and ratchet to remove the lower two (2) hex bolts securing the bottom of the factory grille to the hood sup-port brackets. 


5. Pull out on either upper corner of the factory grille and pull firmly enough to unclip the top edge. There are a total of 5 retaining clips across the top edge. 


6. Carefully remove the factory grille from the hood.


7. Apply masking tape to the painted or chromed factory grille sur-round and the factory emblem if the emblem is to be reused. 


8. For factory emblem installation:remove the 10 mm hex speed nuts securing the emblem to the factory grille. 


9. Use a flat blade screwdriver to pry up onto the emblem retainers (as shown) and pull the emblem off of the factory grille. 


10. Use a torx T-25 bit to remove the lower metal reinforcement from the bottom of the factory grille. 


11. Unclip and remove the factory grille insert from the outer surround for modification. 


12. Use a grease pencil to mark the side sections of the factory grille. This is where you will cut through the arille insert. 


13. Use side cutters to trim the factory center section from the outer return. Once the center section has been removed, replace the inner frame onto the outer Grille surround (not shownl. 


14. Reinstall the metal reinforcement removed in Step 10.


15. Use flat or semi-gloss black paint to black out the factory torx screw heads and the mounting bosses. They will be visible through the mesh grille. Remove the protective masking tape from the fac-tory grille surround at this time. 


16. Use a 7/64" drill bit to drill through the existing holes in the aligned upper and lower mounting brackets once they have been properly centered on the factory grille. 


17. Install the suppiled #8x3/8" black truss head screws to secure the upper and lower mounting brackets to the factory grille. 


18. Measure and mark the factory grille surround at 7-3/8" up from the bottom edge, then align the bottom edge of the side mount-ing bracket center tab. Use a 7/64" drill bit to drill through the existing center hole in the bracket. 


19. Carefully install the supplied #8x3/8" black truss head screw and do not overtighten or you will strip out the hole in the olastic. 


20. Drill and install the remaining #8x3/8" black truss head screws to secure the side mounting brackets. 


21. Paint everything inside the factory grille opening not already black that could be visible through the mesh grille with flat or semi-gloss black paint prior to grille installation. 


22. Align the emblem onto the mesh grille, making sure it is perfectly centered and level. Install the supplied large black plastic washers over the factory mounting studs then reinstall the factory speed nuts to secure the emblem. It may be necessary to trim a wire or two to properly center the emblem. 

23. Install the mesh grille over the factory surround, making sure all studs pass through the slots in the mounting brackets. Once aligned, turn the grille over and install the supplied #8-32 ESNA half nuts and tighten until the grille is snug. 


24. With the help of an assistant, align the assembled grille back onto the hood, making sure all of the upper alignment clips fit back into the slots across the top edge of the hood. Push firmly to seat the factory clips. Remove the protective masking tape across the top edge of the hood at this time. Reinstall the factory hardware to fin-ish the grille installation.
