Make Your Truck Roar. Roar down the road with the sounds of raw power thanks to this Flowmaster American Thunder stainless steel cat-back exhaust. It's optimized to put out a rumbling aggressive noise every time that you drive, and you'll be thrilled to show off your new kit the next time that you go for a drive. Your truck will sound larger and more powerful because this exhaust kit uses wide 3" piping and tips, and features a specially designed muffler for the best acoustics.

Serious Torque. You won't believe how much faster your truck feels after you install this Flowmaster American Thunder stainless steel cat-back exhaust system. The kit goes on easily, but it literally transforms the way that exhaust exits out of your vehicle. Instead of taking the cramped and high pressure path to the outside world, the new system creates a smooth flowing and constant path through mandrel-bent tubes that won't kink or minimize air flow. The result is that your engine can run more effectively than ever before, and you'll see horsepower and torque improvements as soon as this kit is put into position.

409 Stainless. All the pipes, the muffler and the tip of this exhaust system are made from thick and reliable 409 stainless steel. The overall kit is designed to withstand corrosion, heavy use and tough situations that would make a standard exhaust fail over time. That's why this system is made to work for years without issues, and why you can count on it to keep running long after you would have replaced a standard exhaust pipe.

Simple Installation Steps. Follow along with the basic installation steps and you can go from having a basic exhaust system to getting this one installed on your truck. Just remove the old parts and use the OEM hangers to lock in your new ones. You will have all the hardware that you need to do the job and it won't take much time at all to go from start to finish. Around two hours is all you need to get your new exhaust system installed and ready to go. Some cutting may be required to get the pipes to fit properly depending on the bed style your truck has.

Application. The Flowmaster American Thunder Stainless Steel Cat-Back System is designed to fit all 2009 to 2010 F-150s powered by the 5.4L engine. It is not compatible with the 5.4L SVT Raptor.

Can the Flowmaster black ceramic stainless exhaust tip (Item #: T528207-A) be used in place of the provided tips for this exhaust, or are buyers restricted to the provided tips only?

AdamK

  • Unfortunately we do not have an option to get the black ceramic tips with this Flowmaster system, however you can purchase and install the black ceramic tips (T528207-A) seperately, they will fit on the American Thunder catback system.

    Love it

The Flowmaster American thunder cat-back exhaust sounds great. Great rumble through the first five gears then levels out in sixth then you'll get a slight droning but nothing worth down grading this exhaust system. Loud enough to make you smile and grab attention but not so loud the police will pull you over. Great way to bring out the true sound of the V8.

Review from Flowmaster American Thunder Stainless Steel Cat-Back Exhaust - Split Side/Rear Exit (11-14 5.0L)

    Let the Flowmaster ROAR!

I am writing this review after having the exhaust system installed on my 2013 STX 5.0L F-150 for just one week. First of all, the sound when on throttle is amazing. It is just the right amount of growl to satisfy a motor head yet not too loud to draw the attention of law enforcement. It truly brings out that "V-8 sound" that makes the engine feel classic. The only times the exhaust sounds less than perfect is when cruising at highway speeds of roughly 55-60 mph when the truck is in 6th gear at between 1600-1900 rpm. There's just not enough "stress" going on with the engine to push the musical notes through the exhaust effectively so the sound really fades and can drone a little. Bump the speed up to 62 mph and up and this disappears. The exhaust makes fantastic sound when pulling a trailer or when at interstate highway speeds of 65 mph plus. Fit and finish of the exhaust is excellent and required no modifications or cutting on my 2013 STX.

Very impressed with this product. The fit and finish are very good. My truck sounds great all through the power band. I recently installed a borla ford raceing system on a 2013 f-150 I had fitment issues and never did get the pipes straight at the outlet, that system was nearly two times as much money,so I'm even more impressed with the flowmaster system.

Review from Flowmaster American Thunder Stainless Steel Cat-Back Exhaust - Split Side/Rear Exit (11-14 5.0L)

    Great sound.

I am very pleased with how it sounds at an idle and driving down the road. When you first install it you'll notice a little drone when RPM's are around 1300, but after a few days you won't notice it.

Good kit - nice interior sound

Interior noise level is great (2014 f150), outside is a tad louder than I expected. Nice overall bolt on system that fit well.

Review from Flowmaster American Thunder Stainless Steel Cat-Back Exhaust - Split Side/Rear Exit (11-14 5.0L)

    Awesome sound

I've gotten alot of compliments about how my truck sounds. Like the other reviews sounds loud enough to turn heads when you want to but quiet when you need it to be. Drones a little at 1800 rpms.

    Not Impressed

I'm not impressed by this exhaust. First of all, it arrived with the box all torn up and the papers inside shredded. It looked like it had been opened before I received it. The exhaust did not fit together well for starters. Both the outlet pipes from the muffler did not fit into the muffler, after an hour of messing around with them I was only able to get the pipes halfway in. The exhaust clamps that came with the kit did not clamp down tight enough to hold the pipes in place, I ended up breaking two of the clamps trying to get them tight enough and ended up going to oreilly's and buying a different style clamp that worked much better. The exhaust is much louder than I was expecting and has a drone at 1500-2000 rpm, which is where the truck sits at most driving speeds. It sounds mean when you rev the engine and get down on the throttle, but at cruising speed it gets annoying pretty quickly. Overall I'm not impressed with this product, I would've expected more for $675.

    2013 F150 Flowmaster

I had this system installed on my wife's 2013 F-150 and it sounds awesome. The only system that may be louder would be the Outlaw cat back, but the American Thunder cat back is a perfect fit ! It sounds mean man............lemme tell ya. makes me want to get on it every time I am in the truck. I have not had any issues with this system in the 3 years I have had this on the truck. This is a high quality kit that will last you.
