Weep holes I was wondering if these mufflers need weep holes drilled in them, not to stop rust since they are SS but due to thwe fact if water collects in them, it could effect the sound. Does anyone know? Love these mufflers!!! Sound awesome.

        • I had these installed mid Sept. Just had them off to put the factory back on for the winter. Quite a lot of water build up in just 2 months!!! Have drained them and drilled 2 small 3/16ths holes on the lower leading edge to solve the problem when they go back on in the spring. If you look at the factory mufflers they have the same 2 holes already drilled into them. Anyone installing these should do the same. Perhaps it should be done by Ford Racing!!

I have a bbk long tube header with offroad x pipe want a less raspy muffler how bad is the raspiness of these mufflers

        • This axle back will have minimal rasp with it and will have a deeper tone. Now with the off-road X-pipe you will still have some rasp with the car.

Do I need to order 2? The price says "$669.97 (each)" but the "what's in the box" says 2 mufflers are included. So am I getting 2 mufflers for that price or 2 for around $1340?

        • The Ford Performance Sport Axle-Back Exhaust is a complete axleback exhaust kit, so ordering 1 kit will get you 2 mufflers, with 2 tips and 2 sections of piping to attach to the OEM piping.

Does this exhaust increase the HP at all? If so, by how much? Is there any drone at any speed?

        • Axle backs will not really increase the horse power at all. You will get a little better airflow resulting in very minor numbers. However the Ford Performance Sport Axle-Back Exhaust (11-14 V6) is a great sounding exhaust however drone does very on a case by case situation.

What gains will I see in hp? I've put these on my 2012 Mustang and I was just wondering what kind of gains in HP I should be having.

        • Realistically the numbers are small 3 to 5. A small increase in fuel economy depending on your driving habits.

            Drone at first, but fading

These sound amazing from the outside, and have since the first startup. The problem is inside the car, where these produce a notable drone at the higher loads associated with climbing grades, either slowly or up to 50 mph. It is not so much of an issue under hard acceleration though. Thankfully, the drone seems to be subsiding as they settle in. These are on the wife's 2014 V6 Auto Convertible. When I drive it, I tend to use the sport manual mode which can help avoid some of the drone. I believe that the car being a convertible may contribute to the amount of un-awesome noise makes it's way into the cabin. The hangar bars were not aligned straight on either muffler, and both mufflers needed to have plenty of adjustments made to the hangars in order to hang properly in all three dimensions. When installing, do yourself a favor and experience the childlike giddiness that comes with a few revs with no mufflers installed. The V6 honestly sounds like a complete beast when everything is off.

            Deep Mellow Throaty Sound

I've researched mufflers for a long time, did a lot of head scratching(big investment if your wife doesn't like the sound) and finally settled on the Ford Performance Sport Axle-Back mufflers for my 2011 3.7. I am mightily impressed as I didn't want loud, raspy mufflers. These have a deep, mellow throaty sound and there is absolutely no drone at highway speeds(75 - 80). These mufflers are made by Borla for Ford and they perform exactly as advertised. I highly recommend these mufflers!

            Worth every penny

These are not very loud at all. I have a soft top and wanted to add some character to my stang but at the same time I didn't want anything crazy loud. The mufflers can only be heard during first start up and when accelerating. Once you're coasting they come to a rest and you can barely notice them. If you want that loud deep throaty low end sound, then these are NOT for you. Sound is more midrange. But if you're like me and just wanted to add slight character, then I recommend them. Like I said, I have a soft top and can still enjoy my music in the cab even when the top is down. Performance ive notice just a slightly better pick up from the stock but I definitely noticed a difference. I also haven't experienced any droning problems, even at 90mph. Hope that helps.

I am very pleased with the Ford Performance Sport Axleback exhaust mod. It has the exhaust note I was expecting with absolutely no drone. Many compliments on my 2012 V6 Mustang Convertible.

            Bad purchase

This axleback drones between 1500-2800 rpm. Realized it as soon as I installed them and requested a return. AM denied it and suggested to sell them privately. Wont buy from AM again. Stay away from this product and AM as well

            2014 Mustang Convertable

Could not make up my mind for months. Read all the reviews and finally decided on Ford Racing. Am I happy?Yes. Just the sound I wanted. I am 77 years old, and wanted a sound like in the 60,s. Mello, with a sound like a V-8. And that is what I got. Had a shop install. When your in your 70,s shop install is the only way to go. Took them one hour.

            WOW

What a difference! Just the right loudness. My '13, V6, Sterling Gray, manual, convertible sounds awesome. Very little, to no drone. The convertible probably lets in a bit more sound than a hardtop. The note is aggressive, like a Mustang should sound. No popping on downshifts. At 2-3,000 RPM's the car sounds fantastic. Best mod I've done. Well worth the $$. AM even matched the lower price I found on another site. The guy who did the installation was impressed with the quality and "sound" as I drove away. And, remember, this is a Ford Racing axel back made by Borla. So the quality is there.

            FORD RACING SPORT AXLE-BACK EXHAUST

I spent a lot of time listening to sound clips trying to find the right exhaust for me, and this one was perfect. A great deep sound that doesn't get obnoxiously loud or sound like a tin can at high rpms.

            Great Axle-Back Product

I spent a lot of time looking at the various axle-back alternatives and there are many. I settled on the Ford Racing Sport Axle-Backs and for me they were the right choice. The quality of the product and the exhaust note is perfect, a nice deep, throaty note that's about as close to a V8 as you can get. The installation was reasonable except for some instructions that were slightly out of order and some muffler hangers that had to be tweaked a bit to get both sides symmetrical. They are a quality product.

Very nice looking product with a great sound!

I have a 2014, V6, AT, Aiirraid CAI, approx. 5,000 miles. After doing all the reseach and listening to alll the videos I could find online, I selected the "Sport" FRPP axle-backs. The sound is much more sports-car like and has a nice thoaty sound. It is not overly loud, you can still hold a normal voice level conversation at hightway speeds. The sound is just what I was hoping for, as you go 2 & 3 gears (in maual shift mode for me)@approx. 3,500 rpm, it sounds....fast.Very happy with the quality and sound of the product. These are about 25-30 pounds lighter than stock also. I had them shop installed, they made it look easy...... but they had a lift, tools and 2 people working on it.

After reading all past reviews decited to order these mufflers .they were a breeze to install did it from ramps. The sound is great. For those who said they were to loud cannot figure out why they sound great on my 2013 Mustang. Would recommend them to everybody who wants a good sounding ride with great quality.

A Little Expensive, But Still Amazing

I recently purchased this exhaust for my 2014 V6. This exhaust completely changed the tone and volume of my stock exhaust. When I first installed it, the sound was a bit loud and the tone was a little bit too high, but I wanted to wait and see if the sound changed when the exhaust was broken in a bit more. At right around 3000 miles, the sound became more refined and it developed it's awesome deep tone. I later paired this with the Airaid CAI and what an even bigger improvement. I highly recommend this combo for anyone looking to achieve that v8 rumble with their v6. Thanks American Muscle
