      Video Review & Installation

So the FOX Factory Series coil-overs that we're taking a quick look at today are gonna be a great and premium option for my 2015 through 2017 owners out there that wanna enjoy the most capable adaptive shock off-road and the most comfortable shock on-street, all in one package. Now installation wise here, guys, this is definitely something that's not for the weak or faint of heart, and it's going to be that much more involved than doing a leveling kit. Either way, you should expect a moderate one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter here and around a four hour job depending on what kinda tools you have access to, along with having access to a lift. So the FOX 2.5 lets you literally hand adjust low and high compression and stiffness in a few seconds while it's on the truck, which is something that very few other shocks offer. Now this makes the FOX the ultimate shock for the guys who wanna tackle serious trails, while maintaining the best ride quality possible on the streets. Now in terms of what makes these great, FOX has been around for quite some time now and their equipment was stocked in the previous and current generation Raptor, and there's a good reason why. So these are gonna come to come equipped with FOX's DSC technology, which essentially means Dual Speed Compression. Now this adjuster provides added control and comfort tuning for on-road use, where your truck's gonna be spending most of it's time. But when you're hitting the trails, they're gonna offer more aggressive dampening as the adjuster will allow for precise tuning right on the knobs without needing to pull them off of your truck. And what all this essentially means is that the DSC increases both low and high speed compression levels up to 25%, allowing you to maximize small bumps and tracking, while still having the extra dampening for big hits on road or trails. Now they're also gonna allow 10 separate low and 12 high speed compression levels, which more or less means that no matter where you're gonna be going or running, you'll have the ability to fine-tune your setup anyway you see fit. But for construction here, guys, we're gonna be looking at a two and a half inch smooth bore and hone seamless alloy body that's then gonna be zinc-plated and double clear coated, which is gonna give them that great finish for years of abuse. Now in terms of the external reservoir, that's gonna be a two and half inch smooth bore 6061-T6 aluminum, that's then gonna be completed in an anodized black finish. So additionally we're then gonna see that they're gonna be wrapped in an adjustable [inaudible] racing spray. But the greatest aspect about these coil-overs is that they're gonna have a wide range of adjustability, which makes them a huge contender, in my opinion. But last but not least here, guys, FOX's coil-overs are outfitted with external reservoirs which not only look cool, but they're in place to keep oil and high pressure nitrogen separate. Now additionally, the JM92 fluids are gonna be optimal to ensure perfect operation no matter the temperature or climate where you're running your truck. But in terms of the pricing here, guys, this pair is gonna command one of the highest prices on the website at the time of shooting this video, and you should expect to be spending around 1,900 bucks to get these onto your truck. Now this really isn't a surprise in the slightest, as simply put, this is one of the most 4x4 capable road comfortable, adaptive, and convenient shock sets on the site at this time. So switching gears to the installation portion to the video, just like I had said up top, you are going to be looking at moderate one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter here, about a three to four hour job based on the tools you're working with, and if you have access to a lift. Now if you don't have access to a lift, assaults and jack stands will be fine, but if you do have pneumatic tools, it is gonna make that job much easier on you. But either way, guys, here you are going to need the entire toolbox. I'm talking a full socket set, torque wrenches, along with a couple other odds and ends. Now to start, you're gonna wanna get your rig either up in the air, on a lift or stands, pull those wheels and tires, and then begin by disconnecting both outer tire rod ends right at the spindle. After that, remove the three top nuts that are holding the assembly in place, but make sure not to remove the center nut. And once you're done there, remove the one bolt connecting the shock to the lower control arm, and then set that aside. After that, you can then remove the stock shock assembly and you may or may not need to use a pry bar just to wiggle that out of position. After that guys, it's merely gonna be reinstalling your outer tire rod ends, getting your truck back on the ground, and then heading out for a solid alignment. So that's gonna wrap up my quick review and breakdown of FOX's 2.5 Factory Series front coil-overs with reservoirs and DSC adjusters for the zero through two-inch lift, fitting the 2015 through 2017 four-wheel drive F-150, that can be found right here at americantrucks.com.
