Perfect for Installs or Rebuilds. When installing new gears in your Cobra it only makes sense to replace the old worn seals and bearings while the housing is apart, especially if it has over 60,000 miles on the odometer. A Ford Racing Ring and Pinion Installation Kit is cheap insurance against the need for another costly tear down and rebuild.

Complete Kit. This Ford Racing kit comes complete with all the components needed to swap out your ring and pinion gear. It includes pinion and carrier shims, pinion gear, carrier bearings, crush sleeve, pinion seal, pinion nut, ring gear bolts and cover gasket.

Application. This Ford Racing Ring and Pinion Installation Kit is designed for use with 8.8in IRS equipped V8 Mustangs, including the 1999-2004 SVT Cobra.

          Ford Racing Cobra IRS R&P Kit

          Good quality FRPP R&P kit for the Cobra IRS. Bought this along with new IRS axle seals and bearings and FRPP 3:55 ring and pinion gear kit to rebuild my '03 Terminator rear. My only complaint is there was no gear marking compound in the kit, as shown in the picture. It would make things a lot easier and simpler if Ford actually put this small item in there kits for us DIY'ers.

          An Almost Complete Kit

          This kit made installing my new gears much easier than if I had tried to buy all of the parts sold in this kit separately. However, this kit does not include outer axle seals. Also, I didn't use the gasket supplied because I prefer black RTV, but it is nice that they give you the option to use a gasket. Overall, this product worked very well for me.

          Used this when doing a gear swap in the Cobra and my race shop had no issues getting the rear end set-up. Everything when together smooth and the kit had everything needed. Have not experienced any gear whine and things are working great!

          Great help in setup, has all peices required

          Comes with everything needes to Do the ring and Pinoin swap yourself. If retaining the stock differential and gears you may use the original diff. spacers to keep preload and backlash settings from you tearing your hair out. I installed a Torsen T2R differential with ford racing 3.55:1 gears into a 8.8 IRS with this kit. If you are installing new non-stock differential or gear with taller gear ratios (3.73 and up), I reccommend using a solid spacer instead of the crush sleeve included with the kit. I had to change the pinion depth shims several times (4 to be exact) to get the contact pattern on the drive side in the proper spot. You can also change the pinon preload with these shims inside of the solid spacers and RE-USE them. I received the crush sleeve in the kit and the other one supplied with the gears obviously I wouldn't have had enough to finish. No fault of American muscle but the crush's are difficult to work with.

          Does NOT include axle seals

          This kit had everything needed with the exception of new axle seals. Like the previous reviewer said, no slam on American Muscle, the description clearly states what is included and axle seals are not on the list. However, if you want/need new axle seals you'll need to purchase those separately. My car sat on the rack an extra day while we waited for the seals to arrive. So I ding Ford for not including them in the kit. Other than that, this kit is a great deal and arrived just as quickly as everything else I've purchased from AM. Overall, I'm very happy and will continue to purchase from AM.

          IRS bearing kit

          When I opened the box the kit came from Ford in, I was surprised to find the bearings rattling around open in the box with nothing to protect them. They are gritty and need a careful cleaning before they can be used. There does not appear to be any damage, so I am going with the idea that it is useable. If I had ordered a Brand X kit for $29.95 I might have expected it to arrive this way. Also, be aware that while this kit has everything to replace the ring gear and pinion, you will need to source replacement ā€œCā€ clips for the differential ends of the half shafts and also the differential case bearings and seals. Although these parts are recommended for replacement while the pumpkin is out, they are not part of the kit. No slam at American Muscle for this. The kit would be the same no matter where you buy it.
