Fitment? Will the caps fit a regular 2011-2014 GT or Boss with the exception of the intercooler cap

  • It looks like you may be able to use some parts of the kit such as the oil cap on other models besides the GT500 but we are told by Ford Performance that this kit is designed specifically for the GT500.

Not just for the 07-14 GT500

I know this says it's for the 07-14 GT500, but after reading reviews on many sites, I decided to take a chance for my 14 Mustang GT. Their are 2 caps that make great paperweights, or maybe belt buckles because my GT doesn't have an intercooler or transmission fluid cap, but I'm happy as the price was much better than I found anywhere else. One Issue I found reading peoples reviews was that they had to modify the washer fluid cap, and glue it to make it work... well, the washer fluid cap doesn't come with an adhesive strip that secures it to the original cap. Instead, it has an O-Ring. When I saw that, I just tried removing the original washer fluid cap from the bottle, then used a cutoff wheel on my Dremel to remove the hook on the bottle that served as the washer fluid cap hinge. after that, the billet cap snapped on securely, just like the original cap, but without grinding it down to glue the original cap inside it. In all, aside from making sure everything was clean, it took me maybe ten minutes to install all the caps. For anyone that hasn't changed a dipstick handle, it may take a little longer. You will need to use a light hammer and something like a finish nail to remove the pressure fit pin that holds the original in place out, as well as to drive it back in to the new handle. For the new handle, I suggest you be very careful, and drive the pin through the new handle on a semi soft surface so you don't damage the new handle. I used a piece of 2x4 as a backing with needle nose pliers to line up the first few hits on the pin with the holes on the new handle, being careful that the hole on the dipstick was also centered. As for the two extra caps your paying for, and may not need, with a little imagination, you can find other uses for them, may even be able to sell them at a swap meet or car show. The Intercooler cap is application specific, but the tranny fluid cap is a duplicate of one of the other caps, and with the price I got from American Muscle, I really don't feel like I'm paying extra for the caps I don't need. I'll put them to good use in my wardrobe as a belt buckle, and my home decor as things like a coat hook, paperweight, maybe a shadow box wall hanging, and a new thought... a door handle!!! Love the way this kit looks in my engine bay!!!

    Looks good and good quality

The set really set off the rest of my Ford Racing upgrades under the hood .Really good quality but a little pricey. It fit my GT with a little alteration on the washer cap and there's an extra coolant cap.Nice upgrade.

    Dresses up engine compartment nicely!

The Ford racing billet engine cap cover kit made a great visual improvement under the hood of my Shelby Cobra. It was an easy install even though some trimming and dremmel work was needed to make the washer fluid cap fit. It would be nice if the kit could be adjusted to eliminate the extra cap.

Reallly dresses up under the hood

I bought these for a 2007 Shelby GT500. They look great! They are a thick quality product and it shows. Easy install except the windshield washer cover does not fit 07's like the ad says. It was easy to file down the original plastic cover for the billet cover to fit just fine. I added a little glue to keep it there. Just remember to clean the original covers with alcohol before placing on the covers for best adherence. I gave a 4 for the overall because I felt that they could be a little less expensive.

A bit pricey, but nice end result

I saw the warning about the washer cap not working on the newer models, but I popped off the cap and ground the hinge and tab off, I then used epoxy to glue to the cap. It looks and works great Very attractive, but I would have preferred the "chrome" look, where they are more of a satin aluminum finish There is still one cap left over as there is no power steering cap on my 2014 GT500 Installation is super easy

    Nice Touch

The fit and look are great! A very nice touch to the look of the engine. You are advised that you will have "one" cap that cannot be used (on a 2013), but you actually have two. Out of 5 caps and a dip stick top, you end up with 2 caps you can't use. Expensive left overs...but still worth it.

For 2012 Mustang V6 Owners review

This product is excellent quality but a couple of issues for 2012 V6 Owners. Since this kit is not meant for our car, two of the caps are not needed. The factory washer fluid spout has to have the factory retaining cap mount cut away so that this cap will fit which is fairly easy to do. Also, the oil dipstick handle will not fit the V6 engine because the hole is smaller on the V6 so I went to a machine shop who milled it down to the correct size for $20.
