Ideal for both daily driving and towing, a set of Motive Stock Performance 3.73 Ring and Pinion Gears will get your 1997-2017 F-150 up and moving quicker. Motive's 3.73 Gears have a higher ratio when compared to the gears installed by Ford at the factory. This steeper gear ratio will allow your F-150 to enter into its power band quicker which will improve low end torque and increase off the line acceleration, a must for a massive two ton truck.
Motive Ring and Pinion Gears are CNC machined from high grade 8620 gear steel and factory lapped for a precise fit. Each set of gears are hardness tested prior to leaving the factory to ensure the highest quality possible. Unlike other aftermarket brands, Motive Gears do not have a reputation for annoying gear whine. Motive is so confident in the quality of their gears that they are backed with a 12 month, 100,000 mile warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
Please note that when changing the gear ratio of your F-150's rear differential that the calibration of your speedometer will no longer be correct and will display the wrong speed. However, you can easily fix this annoying issue with a Handheld Tuner
This 3.73 ratio Motive Gear Stock Performance Ring and Pinion Gear set will fit all 1997 to 2017 F-150's equipped with a 9.75" (12 bolt) rear differential. A master bearing kit is recommended by most installers, especially on high mileage vehicles.
2011 and newer F-150s will require different Pinion Bearings and Crush Sleeves.
If you are unsure if your F-150 has an 8.8 in. (10 Bolt) or a 9.75 in. (12 Bolt) rear, please check with your local Ford dealer to determine what rear is in your truck.
Technical Note. If your F-150 is two wheel drive, you can change your rear gears without any driveline issues. However, if your F-150 is a four wheel drive model, you will need to change both the front and rear gear ratios to match. Failure to do so will cause severe damage to both the transfer case and transmission. Installation costs will vary, but a good rule of thumb is between $250 and $300. Be sure to work with a reliable shop that you trust for installations.
