More Power, Better Response. Produce more power and improve throttle response by replacing the restrictive stock throttle body with the same throttle body found on the Shelby GT500 along with a 1/2" adapter plate.

Shelby GT500 Throttle Body. This upgrade kit includes the same exact Twin Blade Throttle Body that came as standard equipment on the 2007 to 2010 Shelby GT500 upgrading you from 55mm to 60mm for better airflow and more power.

1/2" Adapter Plate. The included 1/2" billet adapter plate is five-axis CNC-machined to exactly match the center of the GT500's throttle body bores with the exact center of the factory 4.6 3V intake manifold bores for a smooth tapered transition. The adapter plate includes required template to modify the GT500 throttle body and an OEM-style seal for a seamless installation.

Light Drilling Required. The Shelby GT500 Twin Blade Throttle Body and 1/2" Adapter are designed to install in under two hours with just basic hand tools. The GT500 throttle body will need to be drilled out using the provided template.

Required Upgrade. To realize the full power potential that this Ford Racing Throttle Body has to offer, AmericanMuscle recommends a custom tune with a Mustang Handheld Tuner to reprogram the vehicles computer (ECU) for proper operation.

Application. This Shelby GT500 60mm Twin Blade Throttle Body and 1/2" Adapter Kit is designed to fit the 2005 to 2010 4.6L V8 Mustangs, including the GT and Bullitt models.

Technical Note. The included Shelby GT500 Twin Blade throttle body will require light modification/drilling to install correctly with the included adapter plate.

Will this work with the mods I already have listed below? I have a 2008GT that has the ford racing CAI, and also the Ford Racing shaker hood system. I am curious as to the fit of this Ford Racing GT500 Throttle Body Upgrade Kit (05-10 GT) with the above mentioned items. I only ask as for example when I purchased the ford racing shaker hood system, it was not designed to fit really well with the Ford Racing CAI... it took several mods and extra fees as a result of the fitment conflicts.

        • A friend has the same setup as you have and he had to use a Dremel tool and make some cuts at the front of the Shaker system to accommodate the throttle body because the adapter plate adds about 3/8-7/16's towards the front of the engine. Hope this answers your question.

Will this mount onto the Ford Racing intake manifold without the adapter plate or does it still need to be drilled to fit the plate before it will mount to the manifold? Thanks

        • This item will still need to use the adapter plate for proper mounting to the performance ford manifold, which would require slight drilling with the plate for proper fitment.

Hello, I am wondering if this throttle body will fit with the Roush Cold Air Intake, that is also sold by AmericanMuscle? If not, what size connector boots would be needed?

        • Hello Joseph! The Roush CAI should pair well with this throttle body, the coupler that connects to the TB should be able to expand over the bore of the throttle body and then tighten down with the clamps.

Why would one choose the 60mm over one of the 62mm offerings? This part was recommended to me to compliment the FRPP Hot Rod Cams. I am currently running the stock intake but a future upgrade is always in the works.

        • While a 62 mm Throttle Body is slightly larger than a 62mm, the difference may not affect the performance of the car. Sometimes parts, like camshafts, will call for certain applications that will work best with it. You can go up to a 62mm Throttle Body but it may not change anything from a 60mm. Depending on the other modifications you have done to the car, a 60mm Throttle Body might be the best route to go.

Nice item for a package upgrade

Had to wait on backorder but knew that and was willing. This is part of a package I am putting together for my my wife's 2006 GT convertible, auto trans. Current mod's include, Borla exhaust with X pipe, shaker hood operable into the largest Ford racings cold air intake, and a tune. This winter's mod's are the 60m throttle body, stage 1 cam, headers long or short, not sure yet, new gearing 3.73 maybe 4.1 , then going to lower it with some coil overs. And new brakes to go with the 20" Shelby wheels, most likely the Brembo 15" kit. Should be a nice package. Hope know one stairs at her.

            Good Quality

I like the updated throttle body. The only issue I'm having is my Roush Cold air intake rubber inlet is a bit too small on the hunt for a replacement. I also had a machine shop drill out the throttle body, I don't have a drill press and decided it would ultimately come out better that way.

            Install is not simple

I am pleased with the performance! I was not happy with the fact that I had to drill out the adapter/spacer plate and throttle body without a template.(The adapter/spacer that comes with the throttle body should have been predrilled. It was to fit the throttlebody...not the intake.) Also since it is a larger throttlebody...i needed a larger boot that attached the cold air intake! No mention was made from American Muscle! They also don't offer a boot that fits this throttlebody! It takes an afternoon to install IF you have all the parts and drilled out. Otherwise it will take about a week to get a proper size boot! But I am beyond pleased with the performance of this GT500 throttlebody! Much better response, better low end torque! I love it but my tires dont!

I haven't installed the throttle body yet. The install does not mention the need for an adaptor to make it fit your existing cai. One should be made available through a.m. to make this an easier install.

Great product! My car responded well to it. Instant torque but you need an adapter for the intake to make it on the throttle body.

            Good Throttle Reaponse

Fairly easy to install, just follow the template they give and you will have no trouble. just don't forget you will need a 5" couple to reattach your intake. I forgot to order one so my car was down for a couple days while I waited.

            fantompony again

UNFORTUNATELY THIS HAS TO BE A NAGATIVE REVIEW. I PUT THIS TB ON MY 06, AND THE CAR NEVER IDLED PROPERLY. WHEN I WOULD HIT THE ACCELERATOR IT WOULD HANG AT 2500 RPM. I NEVER GOT TO ACTUALLY DRIVE MY CAR EXCEPT UP THE STREET AND BACK. THIS WAS A WASTE OF MONEY FOR ME. I PICKED UP THE GMS 62MM TB AND THE CAR RUNS LIKE A CHAMP

            JUST A LITTLE BIT MORE

The GT 500 throttle body easily replaces the stock one. With some slight modification to the unit (basically enlarging the bolt holes) it bolts right on. The folks at Bama wrote me up a new tune and we were good to go. The one thing I would mention is if you already have aftermarket breather check the diameter of the rubber boot that connects them you may also need a new boot to connect them together

Gives my Bullitt an extra boost

I was skeptical of the gains from going from 55 - 60mm, but what a difference does it make on my 09 Bullitt (with a custom tune of course) The car is definitely snappier in the lower rpms and you feel the gains with WOT. The only downside is you have to drill holes into your throttle body to make it fit properly. Had a shop do the install for $150. Thanks American Muscle!

            Great part, tricky install

part is great. Be sure to get an oversize boot for intake throat. It is larger than stock size and American muscle doesn't have them nor will they tell you that it is needed. You will need one that is bigger at throttle body and small enough for intake tube to work.

Proceed with Caution 2005 GT Owners

I purchased this throttle body to upgrade my 2005 Mustang GT. The instructions were clear and template provided; however, I overlooked considering a new CAI that would fit this aftermarket product. Upon searching for one, I could neither find a CAI for this size throttle body for my 05 GT platform; nor could I find an adapter for the GT500 throttle body and 05 Rousch CAI (which has an angle and is different in length compared with the subsequent models for which this FTB was designed. I ended up taking it off and will try to sell it on craigslist. I put the old one back on but ordered a procharger which is on its way so ultimately it is irrelevant. While it was on it sounded great, but AM should offer a CAI that is compatible with this item for 05 GT upon checkout as it (CAI) is a necessary part.

            Silicone coupling fitment

Note that the 4-1/2" silicon coupler that currently ships with JLT Series-3 CAI will _not_ fit to the GT500 TB, which requires a 5" coupler (6.2" x 3.5") even with stretching. Some reviews have said that JLT will fit up but this is not the case.
