I knew I had to do some drilling, but there were no instructions from ANYONE on what you need or proper way to do it, the holes didn't line up with the adapter plate, and you have to buy a different coupler. I dont mind buying extra parts if I have to, just would of been nice to know about it. What's worse is that I haven't even driven the car with it. Sad. Let's see if all this was worth it after I buy the coupler.Helpful (0)

DOES NOT FIT 2008 Bullitt
Contrary to description, there is no template for drilling. On a 2008 Bullitt, you'll also have to modify or replace your intake boot (you need a 5" to 4.5" transition), intake duct, crankcase breather hose (stock will be too short), and coolant reservoir (if you somehow manage to make the stock duct work). I should have spent more time looking for a stock replacement.Helpful (0)

Too much Work
Spend the extra money and get the 62mm. This has been nothing but a headache and expense at the machine shop.Helpful (0)

Nice item for a package upgrade
Had to wait on backorder but knew that and was willing. This is part of a package I am putting together for my my wife's 2006 GT convertible, auto trans. Current mod's include, Borla exhaust with X pipe, shaker hood operable into the largest Ford racings cold air intake, and a tune. This winter's mod's are the 60m throttle body, stage 1 cam, headers long or short, not sure yet, new gearing 3.73 maybe 4.1 , then going to lower it with some coil overs. And new brakes to go with the 20" Shelby wheels, most likely the Brembo 15" kit. Should be a nice package. Hope know one stairs at her.Helpful (1)

I like the updated throttle body. The only issue I'm having is my Roush Cold air intake rubber inlet is a bit too small on the hunt for a replacement. I also had a machine shop drill out the throttle body, I don't have a drill press and decided it would ultimately come out better that way.Helpful (5)

Install is not simple
I am pleased with the performance! I was not happy with the fact that I had to drill out the adapter/spacer plate and throttle body without a template.(The adapter/spacer that comes with the throttle body should have been predrilled. It was to fit the throttlebody...not the intake.) Also since it is a larger throttlebody...i needed a larger boot that attached the cold air intake! No mention was made from American Muscle! They also don't offer a boot that fits this throttlebody! It takes an afternoon to install IF you have all the parts and drilled out. Otherwise it will take about a week to get a proper size boot! But I am beyond pleased with the performance of this GT500 throttlebody! Much better response, better low end torque! I love it but my tires dont!Helpful (11)
Will this work with the mods I already have listed below? I have a 2008GT that has the ford racing CAI, and also the Ford Racing shaker hood system. I am curious as to the fit of this Ford Racing GT500 Throttle Body Upgrade Kit (05-10 GT) with the above mentioned items. I only ask as for example when I purchased the ford racing shaker hood system, it was not designed to fit really well with the Ford Racing CAI... it took several mods and extra fees as a result of the fitment conflicts.
A friend has the same setup as you have and he had to use a Dremel tool and make some cuts at the front of the Shaker system to accommodate the throttle body because the adapter plate adds about 3/8-7/16's towards the front of the engine. Hope this answers your question.
Will this mount onto the Ford Racing intake manifold without the adapter plate or does it still need to be drilled to fit the plate before it will mount to the manifold? Thanks
This item will still need to use the adapter plate for proper mounting to the performance ford manifold, which would require slight drilling with the plate for proper fitment.
Hello, I am wondering if this throttle body will fit with the Roush Cold Air Intake, that is also sold by AmericanMuscle? If not, what size connector boots would be needed?
Hello Joseph! The Roush CAI should pair well with this throttle body, the coupler that connects to the TB should be able to expand over the bore of the throttle body and then tighten down with the clamps.
Why would one choose the 60mm over one of the 62mm offerings? This part was recommended to me to compliment the FRPP Hot Rod Cams. I am currently running the stock intake but a future upgrade is always in the works.
While a 62 mm Throttle Body is slightly larger than a 62mm, the difference may not affect the performance of the car. Sometimes parts, like camshafts, will call for certain applications that will work best with it. You can go up to a 62mm Throttle Body but it may not change anything from a 60mm. Depending on the other modifications you have done to the car, a 60mm Throttle Body might be the best route to go.
Hi, would this TB work with the stock air intake and still provide some power gains with a custom tune?
Yes, this will indeed fit with the stock air intake, and will indeed offer more power with a good custom tune.
Yes, when combined with a tune, you will see some really good performance increases.
The Ford Performance GT500 Throttle Body Upgrade Kit does not require you to change your Mass Air Flow.
The factory boot will work with this throttle body.
Unfortunately this will not work with the Roush supercharger.
This throttle body would still require the use of the adapter plate to bolt up to the OEM intake manifold on the 4.6L Mustang. You would not be able to properly install this without using the adapter plate.
This throttle body is compatible with the Airaid cold air intake and will fit with the coupler provided with that intake.
The JLT intake will work with this throttle body yes.
The Ford Performance GT500 Throttle Body Upgrade Kit will not work with a throttle body spacer designed for the GT, and will require the adapter. This will work with your existing CAI coupler.
