How to Install Heartthrob 4 in. Aluminized Cat-Back Exhaust System - Single Side Exit on your F-150

Installation Time

2 hours

Note: do not tighten any clamps or bolts until the last step!
Note: wheel base is measured from the center of the front wheel to the center of the rear wheel.

1) Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the exhaust system at the flange behind the converters leaving only the original y pipe, rubber mounts, and catalytic converters on the truck.

Note: both of the extension pipes will fit the long wheel base trucks (163.2” w.b., super cab 97.4” long box) without cutting, except for 2015 , which for 163.2” w.b. will require a 4” ID/OD x 6” long extension and 4” clamp, not included.

For 2011-2014 156.6” w.b. super crew standard 78.8” box, you will need the front extension pipe, and use the middle extension pipe and cut 7” off the od end of the middle extension pipe. For 2015 cut 3.5” off of the od end of the middle extension pipe.

For 2011-2014 144.5” w.b. (super cab standard 78.8” box, super crew 67” short box and regular cab long 97.4” box), cut 19-3/4” off of the OD (nonflared) end of the front flanged extension pipe, and use the full length 25” id/od middle extension pipe. For 2015 use the full length of the middle extension pipe, and cut off 16.25” off of the OD (non-flared) end of the front flanged extension pipe.

For 2011-2014 132.6” w.b. (super cab 67” short box), do not use the middle extension pipe, and cut off 6” from the od (non-flared) end of the 3” front extension pipe. For 2015 do not use the middle extension pipe and cut off 2.5” ” from the od (non-flared) end of the 3” front extension pipe.

For 2011-2014 125.8” w.b. (regular cab 78.8” standard box) and 2015 122.5” w.b., do not use the middle extension pipe, and cut off 13” from the od (non-flared) end of the 3” front extension pipe.

3) use 3/8” x 2-1/4” bolts, nuts, lock and fender washers to attach the flanged front extension pipe to the converter pipe.

4) those with wheel bases shorter than 163.2” trim as required in the note above, attach the middle extension pipe to the flanged front extension pipe using a 4” accuseal clamp.

5) use the 4” front hanger clamp (shortest hanger portion) to attach the inlet of the muffler and the extension pipe together, connect the wire portion to the rear most o.e. rubber hanger mount along side the system near the muffler inlet.

6) install the over the axle section of the tail pipe to the muffler using the middle 4” hanger clamp (mid length hanger portion). Connect the wire portion of the hanger to the o.e. rubber hanger mount above.

7) install the rear section of the tail pipe using a 4" clamp.

8) Install the rear 4” hanger clamp (this is the longest hanger portion) to the over the axle tail pipe just into the last bend in the over the axle tail pipe section. Install the wire portion of the hanger to the o.e. rubber hanger mount above.

9) tighten all clamps and bolts and check for clearance of the frame, body, chassis members, and brake and fuel lines. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
