INSTALLATION

1. Using a properly rated jack, raise the front of the vehicle and support the frame rails with jack stands. Ensure the jack stands are secure and set properly before lowering the jack. NEVER WORK UNDER AN UNSUPPORTED VEHICLE. Remove front wheels.

2. Using a jack, slightly lift the lower control arm to prevent the arms from being at full droop.

3. Turning the steering wheel to the driver side will allow easy access to the 21mm nut on the upper control arm ball joint that mates the spindle and upper control arm. Remove the safety cotter pin if present and loosen the ball joint nut.

4. The spindle will need to be supported so as not to tilt over, causing over-extension of the CV’s on 4WD equipped trucks or possibly damaging steering. Using a ball joint separator, split the ball joint from spindle. Repeat steps 2 and 3 on the passenger side upper control arm.

5. With the upper control arm detached from the spindle begin to loosen the arm from its mounts in the frame using a 21mm socket/wrench. Once completed, remove OEM assembly.

6. Before installing ICON upper control arms, care must be taken to grease the bushings (liberally) prior to installing assembly. Failure to grease properly will cause premature bushing wear and increased noise. (FIGURE 1)

7. Install the taper pin adapter finger tight into the arm. The 12pt bolt will be left finger tight until step 11.

8. Each arm is clearly labeled which side and direction it should be installed.

9. With greased bushings installed, place the driver side upper control arm into the mounts on the chassis and tighten OEM hardware. [Torque to factory spec]

10. Take care when inserting tapered pin into the spindle to not damage the threads. Hand tighten the supplied flange locking nut (also use supplied washer) onto the tapered pin to snug taper into seat. Once aligned and seated [Torque to 65 ft-lbs].

11. Remove the 12pt bolt that was installed in step 7 to apply RED thread locker. [Torque to 90 ft-lbs]

12. Install wheels and lower vehicle back to the ground. [Torque to factory spec]

13. Have the vehicle professionally aligned.

VERIFY ALL FASTENERS ARE PROPERLY TORQUED BEFORE DRIVING VEHICLE.

RETORQUE ALL NUTS, BOLTS AND LUGS AFTER 100 MILES AND PERIODICALLY THEREAFTER.
