    Review & Installation Video

    Review & Install Video

The Injen Power-Flow Cold Air Intake Kit you see here today is available for any 2015 or newer 3.5 EcoBoost owner looking to pick up a more showcar-looking, performance-optimized cold air intakes that offers a small bump in horsepower and torque, while also improving throttle response and even a little fuel economy. With that said, this is gonna be one of the more premium options, thanks to, of course, the improved air filters and the MR Technology that we'll talk about in this video, but also because of the only option on the site that offers a mirror-like shine like this one. Now, also, the installation here, I'll let you know, is gonna be very simple, although you'll have to do it twice since there's two intakes. It'll still get a one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter, and we'll touch on that toward the end of the video. There are two really distinct reasons that this particular kit stands out against the other options out there, and the first one and the most obvious one is the fact that there's two full-scale, large, individual intakes and filters here for your engine, which, honestly, a lot of the options out there do not offer. What this basically does is maximizes the amount of cold-dense, oxygen-rich air going to both the manifold directly and directly to your 3.5's turbo. Injen also has these manufactured out of a high-quality billet 6061 aluminum piping, obviously for added quality and durability. And the fact that these aren't a closed-off design, which offers, basically, a bigger engine noise and even an intake noise. If you're looking for the more traditional, quiet options, K&N or AIRAID might serve that purpose, but this one, obviously, just wants to give it a more aggressive sound. Now, this option from Injen also offers a technology exclusive to them, known as the MR Technology, which is basically this step-down style we have at the ends of the tubing on each side, which is Injen's way of adding the power potential and increasing what it can maximize. Now, obviously, this isn't gonna offer the world of different when it comes to power, but you can expect somewhere in the 11 horsepower and torque range, without needing a custom tune. And that's since all 3.5's on the market are a no-tune-required intake, simply because they utilize a speed density, instead of the mass air flow. Speed density actually helps the computer to make changes on the fly, so it, you know, holds back on needing a custom tune, saving you money in the process. In addition to the tubing we already talked about, you're also picking up big nanofiber air dry filters, which obviously there's two of them because there's two intakes. So this is actually gonna be manufactured from a surgical cotton gauze with a diamond wire mesh outer, which really just helps the filtration capabilities. Another cool thing about these is the fact that they are rewashable and reusable, which basically means that you don't have to go out and pick up two new filters every few thousand miles to do the routine maintenance. All you have to do is unclamp them from these clamps here using a flathead screwdriver, pop them off, wash them from the inside out, and, of course, just pop 'em right back on. Since they are dry filters, you won't have to worry about reoiling those, so you're saving money on not only the new filters, but also just filter oil after thousands of miles. Now, if you're wondering what the other factor that comes into play is that makes this different from the other ones, it's pretty obvious. It's the mirror-like shine and the polished finish on top here. This is the only option currently on the website that offers a polished finish since stealthy black pretty much dominates the category otherwise. If you don't like this finish here, pick literally any other one on the site, and you'll be good to go. With that said, the polished finish does factor into the price tag here, along with the higher quality materials, so it comes in just north of the $500 mark. If you're looking to save some money and you're not really looking to shop that high of quality, you can pick up more traditional options that offer a single intake tube that splits from manifold to turbo, instead of having two individual ones. You wanna keep in mind, no matter what intake you go with, the install is pretty much consistently the same, so you wanna have about an hour's worth of time from start to finish on deck, as well a ratchet and socket set, maybe a flathead screwdriver as well for the clamps. With that said, one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. If you know how to do an intake, the only difference here is you have to do it twice. To kick this off, obviously, it might be easier for you to assemble the entire intake tube and the couplers and the filters and all of that outside of the vehicle on a table. If not, you can do it inside the vehicle as well, but obviously, outside works a little bit easier for some people, with the exception of the airbox here, which will come in last. With that said, you wanna kick things off by assembling this and then taking it over to the truck's engine bay, pop open the hood, and remove the factory one from the engine. All that's really capable of is removing the air filter box, unclamping the filter from the intake tubing, unclamping that from the throttle body and manifold as well as the turbo, and just setting it all aside. New hardware and everything is provided for you in the kit. As you can see here, you get new couplers, which is great for the high quality, and, of course, you get new clamps right there to replace the old, rusted out ones. Once that's taken care of, it's just a matter of popping in your intake, obviously bolting it down to the throttle body and bolting the other down to the turbo. Pop the filters on each end, clamp those down, and then pop in the airbox we see here, which goes, obviously, right around the filters. From there, you're good to go. Obviously, it's the exact same process from one to the other, so an hour at the absolute maximum. Just to wrap things up here, if you're the owner of a 2015 or newer 3.5-liter EcoBoost F-150, you might wanna check out the Injen Power-Flow Cold Air Intake in the polished finish, which you can find right here at americantrucks.com.

Top-Notch CAI. When transforming your 2015-2016 F-150 into a high performance truck, a good cold air intake like the Injen Power-Flow Polished Cold Air Intake is a must-have mod in the quest to reach maximum potential power. A big nanofiber dry air filter and a large capacity intake tube slurp plenty of cold, dense, oxygen-rich air into the engine, boosting the air intake for up to +11 horsepower and +11 ft/lbs of torque. Fuel economy improves by +1-2 mpg, and your F-150 accelerates faster and easier with this component installed. This part, which is street legal in most U.S. states, also looks good under your F-150's hood, livening up the engine compartment with its highly polished aluminum tube and bright blue air filter.

American-Made, Tough. Made in the USA, the Injen Power-Flow CAI is centered around a beefy EA nanofiber air filter and a polished, mandrel-bent 6061 aluminum intake pipe with a mirror finish. The CAI includes MR technology that enables its use without retuning the MAF (mass air flow) sensor. Supplied with CNC machined adapters and brackets, and all hardware needed for installation, this high quality component comes with a limited lifetime warranty.

Application. The Injen Power-Flow Polished Cold Air Intake is made for installation in the engines of 3.5L EcoBoost 2015-2016 Ford F-150 trucks.

Hello, Will the INJEN Power - Flow cold air intake - polished (15-16 3.5L ECOBOOST fit my 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor?

    Rick

    • Hey Rick, So this cold air intake will not work for the 17 raptor. Though the bare motor is very similar the difference in tune, power, and supporting components would not allow this intake to properly work within the raptor
