Will this fit with the LTH Over Axle Pipes (11-14 GT, GT500)?

ReeseG

  • Since this JBA after-cat H-pipe steps down from 3" to 2.75" and the LTH over axle pipes have a diameter of 2.75" they will work in conjunction with one another.

How easy is it to switch between using the stock cats to the cat delete down pipes? Given that you have the tunes for each, would it be terribly difficult to switch between the two at will?

Christian

  • The remove and replace the the catalytic converter deletes with the stock catalytic converters with the JBA After-Cat H-Pipe would be fairly easy depending on experience, If the hardware is not rusty and you have the appropriate tools, the switch should take about an hour.

If I use the factory cats do I need a retune from sct?

Tony2012

  • Hi, This JBA After-Cat H-Pipe will not need a tune when using the stock catalytic converters, But if you use the Included 3" Cat Delete Downpipes you will need to get a BAMA tune.

  • The JBA After-Cat H-Pipe - 3 in. to 2.75 in. (11-14 GT) will with in conjunction with the Borla cat back systems for a 2014 GT however with all of Borla exhausts, they will all come with an X-Pipe that you will need to replace.

Will this fit magnaflow comp axlebacks? Thinking about getting these along with my magnaflow axlebacks will these fit perfectly?

TOoCool

  • Yes they should. I have the JBA Off/R H pipe with magnaflos in my car. The JBA H actually fit better then the catted Magnaflo H I have for emissions test.

Is a tune required if the delete pipes are used?

Azevedo

  • I believe it's not required, but it is HIGHLY recommended for 2 reasons: 1. your car fuel levels will be off since it will be trying to make up for the 2 o2 sensors it's not reading 2. This will throw a CEL, and the tune will be able to get rid of the CEL. A

JBA H Pipe installation and review

I spent the afternoon installing the jba h pipe on my '14 mustang 5.0 along with gt500 axle backs and here's what I think and you need to know: INSTALLATION: (after cat installation, I did not want to take the cats off because I live in CA) Getting the stock h-pipe off is not that difficult just save all the clamps and bolts. When installing the JBA piece the pipes line up fine but I ended up with an exhaust leak around the c-clamps for both the front parts of the pipes that connect to the cats. I think this is because the pipes just don't "go into" the cats enough, so I HIGHLY RECOMMEND some exhaust tape and it cures the issue. The back part of the pipes are connected to the rest of the exhaust system in the back with some GIANT clamps so I think that's why they did not leak. SOUND: they sound deep along with my gt500 axlebacks. I installed these both at the same time on a bone stock car and let me tell you: they rumble when you push the gas ( but not too loud just deep and throaty) and at idle they are almost same as stock ( only if your standing outside the idle sounds a little more "rumbly") If you want a nice throaty "rumble" this h pipe definately helps. As far as performance the car feels like its less restricted and can breathe better. It likes to go into the higher rpms a little easier, so all in all I'm happy with everything. AMERICAN MUSCLE ALSO GOT MY ORDER TO ME FAST AND PROMPT AND THE PACKSGES WERE IN EXCLELENT CONDTION!! THANKS GUYS :)

    Muscle Car Growl

Just got this H-Pipe installed a few days ago... it has made my 5.0 even more fun to drive!!! Other modifications I had prior to the install included the Roush Axle-Back Exhaust, Roush Cold Air Intake, and BBK 85mm Throttle Body. First, let me say that the sound didn't change dramatically compared to the stock H-Pipe. I would say the sound has a SLIGHTLY deeper and guttural muscle car sound. And a lot of the popping sounds that came with stock are lost. However, when I open it up now... the higher pitched rasp from the stock has changed to a smoother "bassier" growl. Overall, I wish the sound was a little louder after the install... but the exhaust note sounds a muscle car :) Surprisingly, my 5.0 is noticeably more responsive after this install even though I kept my Cats. It is very slight, but response to pressing on the gas and acceleration seems faster. No dyno numbers to back it up, but it is there. The car's exhaust flow in general feels smoother and less choked, especially when I give her gas!!!

More than a tad' bit loud!

So pleased with these H-pipes. Used the downtubes & deleted the cats. 02 sensors screwed in perfectly. When you get to right side catalytic bolt, the one closest to the frame must be removed via the engine bay with an extra long ratchet extension. Other than that hiccup, installation was a breeze. Now on to the sound. The tips on the axel-backs now stick out some since the H-pipe was sandwiched in there. This 5.0 growls now, you can actually feel the rumble under the seats. This H-pipe along with the Roush C.A.I. & Axel-backs provide one intoxicating sound, make no mistake, with this setup, they are loud! You will not be disappointed. Thanks to Alex & Ken at A.M. Great aftermarket exhaust upgrade

Just installed this piece on my '13 GT with GT500 mufflers outback, iTSX, Steeda CAI, and Boss intake. The fit was great with minimal leakage around the crossover tube and one of the ball sockets on the cat delete pipes. With a few miles and some carbon build up the leaks should seal up. Anyway the sound. Holy smokes it makes a symphony when you stomp on the gas. The combination of this, the mufflers, and 7500 rpm is fantastic. I have always loved the sound of h-pipes over x-pipes and this does not disappoint. Not super load when driving around town but definitely makes some noise when you hit it. Cannot comment on power gains because I installed this at the same time as the cai and Boss intake but together these parts gave my car a huge boost in power. At least on my butt dyno. Highly recommend. Great addition to my car.

Makes the GT500 AB even sexier.

The welds were okay looking, there was no leaks or anything so they got the job done. The packaging was great. I got these installed at a performance shop, and opted for the cat delete, although hesitantly since I didnt want it to be too loud. For reference, I have the GT500 Axle backs. The shop said the install was perfect, no gaps, no issues, no leaks. I did get a tune from Bama to get rid of the CEL since i did the cat delete for off-road use. The sound: Basically amplifies the sound of the GT500. There is little to no rasp, and just sounds MEAN. there is NO drone at hwy cruising speeds, but you can def hear it when accelerating with the windows down. If you think the gt500 is slightly not loud enough, get these. Even with the cat deletes, it's awesome sounding, without ruining your neighbors day while regularly driving. You can rev it, and wake up the neighborhood, but you can tame it as well. A slight bit loud at cold startup, but that goes away in 20 secs. Smell? isnt that bad at all. I can only smell it in my garage, but it's not a bad smell, just smells like exhaust. I cant smell it in traffic. The gains? Well, with the tune, i can def tell some immediate improvement in throttle response, and over all smoother acceleration and tq curve. I will be getting it dyno'd soon, to compare to the preinstall.

    LOVE THE SOUND!!

I was hesitant at first because I didn't want to be to loud with my KOOKS axlebacks but I think the sound is perfect. Added more throaty tone to it. All in all I love the product along with the ghost cam tune it sounds like a true muscle car. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Not much different if keeping your catalytic converters.

H-Pipe was shipped quickly and arrived nicely packaged, thanks to American Muscle. The welds look to be pretty good except for a couple spots here and there, but overall a well made piece. Here's what you need to know. If you only have a jack and jack stands, expect this install to take well over 2 hours if you're doing it yourself. I installed this thing myself and it took me 6 hours start to finish. It's not difficult except for the fact that the factory clamps used to hold the front of the stock h-pipe onto the cats are oriented in such a way that getting the bolts off is nearly impossible. However, with a little patience it can be done. Just take your time and try not to get frustrated with it. If once you get the c-clamps loose you still have trouble breaking the stock h-pipe away from the cats, hold the clamp tight with one hand and use a hammer to bang on the bottom of the clamp where the two pipes meet, this ought to break it free. I gave the product 3 stars because I didn't find a noticeable difference in sound or performance. I get a slightly deeper tone at idle but that's about it. I kept the cats because of emissions in my state, so I'm sure that's part of it. I do however notice the crackles and pops I loved with the stock h-pipe have increased, especially on downshifts.

    Loud

For starters I will say this, the addition of this H-pipe will definatly open up your exhaust sound. Not too bad when driving normally on the streets or highway, but the moment you punch it, it's a screaming beast. I don't really notice much as far as HP pick up but it does sound good. I did notice that it does leave a little bit of exhaust fumes to smell when at a stand still. The biggest complain I have with the product is the fitment. JBA could have done a better job on how the ball and socket joints come together. It took several attempts to make sure there weren't any leaks. The major reason it took the afternoon to install was that it was a pain in the butt to remove the stock bolts from the cats. They wouldn't budge; however the passenger bolt that is accessed through the engine bay came off easily. Go figure. With the coupon AM offered, the price was pretty good.

    Definitely louder then stock

Install went ok, the hardest part was the removal of the old cats, that bolt on the passenger side was really on there. But the rest of the install went well except for the small exhaust leaks, which were taken care of the next day at a muffler shop. The sound is much louder with my GT500's on the car, and man what a difference in power it made. The car rips the stock rubber loose at will.

    Vicious sound...

Purchased this after-cat h pipe to go along with my GT500 axleback. Installed the optional cat-delete pipes that came along with it. First off, I have been an exhaust junky since I got into the Mustang world with my 2002 GT. Always in search of that perfect note. This Coyote motor was going to be a challenge. Lots of cackle and drone from the wrong exhaust set up. This 3" JBA H pipe really lowered the tone of the exhaust, literally no cackle paired with the FRPP mufflers and no drone at highway speeds. Install was easy, fitment was great which wasn't the case with mid pipes I've installed in the past. If you're looking to add power and gain some intimidating growl to your car without getting overly loud and annoying, this mid-pipe with a baffled performance muffler is the way to go!. The JBA 3" H pipe completed my perfect exhaust note!

need a little elbow grease but worth it

first i want to say it didn't take an afternoon but it took me more then an hour. the only issues i ran into was fitment where the delete pipes meet with the h-pipe. after a bit of wrestling around with it and over tightening the clamps it came out just fine. the sound alone is worth any trouble you might run into installing this on your own. lastly don't forget to readjust your axle back since the the aftermarket mid pipes seem to be longer then stock and cause your tips to stick out further.

    Great looking H-Pipe

The H-Pipe fit into place just fine. The only issue I have is that it kept leaking around the ball and socket joint with the factory catted downpipes. The leak was where the bolt tightens the factory C-clamp around the joint (opening of the C). After some tweaking, I finally just smothered the clamps in muffler cement. I don't know whether to attribute this to the JBA ball fitting into the factory downpipe socket or the other way around. This is the reason is gets 4/5 stars. Not sure what sound quality was gained because I swapped axle-backs and deleted the resonators during the H-pipe install. Great bang for your buck and also looks sharp!

More air more power (it') the law

The hardest part of this install we're getting the 2 bolts loose the clamped the h pipe to the cat's Ford really played a trick on us with that hook up,after that it was all gravy,I'm a cali boy so I kept my cats, and it didn't matter i could feel the newborn power not a whole lot but i could feel it no doubt about it. I drove it like this for 2 days then I loaded the the bama tune to get the most from the extra my pony was breathing i haven't had a new tune in about 2yrs when I installed my jlt cai since then I've added gt500 ab bbk 85mm tb dss one peice ds aluminum, and 275/40/19 on all 4 Corners i told bama about these mods and the tune they sent me unleashed the beast !! A 2 hour install makes me want to go camaro hunting hearing the deep roar from the jba h pipe as I rip thru the gears is intoxicating

    Bad leaks

Fitment is poor. I installed it myself with a cat delete and had some bad exhaust leaks where the downpipe meets the midpipe. After multiple attempts, I couldn't get the leak stopped, so I took it to a shop and they couldn't get it to stop leaking either. They recommended another shop they thought might be able to fix it, but I haven't taken it in yet. If I could do it over again, I would leave the stock midpipe in place and stick with my Borla Axleback. Sound is not bad, but it's not noticeable deeper in tone. Just much higher in volume. Hard to tell if it will sound much better when the leaks are finally fixed.

    Great deep rumble

I installed the cat delete pipes with the JBA h pipes and ford racing sport axle back exhaust. These h pipes with cat delete really gives it a good loud muscle car sound especially when you get over 3k rpm. Everything fit fine during install and it only took about an hour. The hardest part was removing the passenger side cat. Overall, great product and very happy with sound, haven't turned my radio on since.

Nice product. Decided not to delete the cats. Had a shop install, worked out great. Maybe noticed a little extra HP, not much. Added a little bit of a deeper sound to my Ford Racing Touring axle backs, not much. Definitely a noticeable difference from the stock H-pipe though.

    Deep Rumble...

I have the JBA H Pipe and kept the stock cats just in case one of my vegan side pieces looks underneath my car... combined with the Roush axle backs makes a sweet sound that makes me feel sexy yet classy while driving.
