Justin: Hey, everybody. Justin with AmericanMuscle.com here with my buddy Paul from the Bama Performance team and the car you guys all know and love, right? Our 2015 GT that went 10’s on motor, 9’s with the nitrous and if you guys haven't seen it, what are you doing? Subscribe to our YouTube channel. Now, guys, we've been hearing a lot of questions on YouTube as a matter of fact with this car. Guys, what's up with the tune in that car? Can I have that in my 2015? Well, here with me now is a guy who can answer that for you. Paul, tell these people what they want to hear. Paul: Now, they can absolutely have this tune. This is our version two race tune that we do make available for everyone in the public. They'll likely do all of our testing on the dyno. We've spent thousands of miles testing on the street. We test our race tunes at the race track. Now, obviously, this is designed for specific race fuel but if you're running that exact same combo, we're going to make this available for you. If you're running a different gas, maybe E85, or even 93 octane, the skeleton is still the same. We're just going to make the adjustments for the fueling and the spark if you have a change in gas. Justin: So you tell me I have a blast manifold car basically full bolt-on, long tubes, exhaust, I can throw in some race gas, you can send me the exact same tune that's pretty much in this car? Paul: Yup. Justin: There you go. How about Nitro slides, you guys are going to offer some Nitro support? Paul: We are going to offer Nitro support. This car does have a 150 shot in it. However, for our mail order customers, because of a lot of variables, we're only tuning up to 100 shot. Justin: Nice man. Let's stop talking already. Let's show this guy what they want to see, the numbers with this setup, so I'm going to get out of the way and let her rip, sir. Well, Paul, any runs that are in the book, sir, what are we looking at number-wise? Paul: Now, the car lay down 463 wheel horsepower and 400 foot pounds of torque. Justin: Now that's up huge from, of course, the bone stock runs at 366 and 353, about what you expect to the bone stock 2015. So over that we're making about 97 peak horsepower, 100 horsepower throughout the curve and 80 pound feet of torque throughout the curve. I mean, just humongous gains and something somebody at home can get just with a few mods and a help with a dev tune, right? There you go. Well, guys, now it's time to get this 150 shot in the books here, so I'm going to get out of the way one more time. Well, Paul, let's dissect this Nitro's number now. What are we looking at? Paul: The car made 588, 685 foot pounds of torque. Justin: Absolutely huge from a little 150 shot, right? I mean huge amounts of torque. That's pretty much indicative of running nitrous, right? So we're looking at 125 peak horsepower over the NA numbers. And then curve gains; get this guys, 226 horsepower and 306 pound feet of torque underneath the curve. Absolutely ridiculous. Paul, with numbers like this, I mean, obviously the race tunes are doing their job. But why would people want to run the performance tune you guys also offer? Paul: Now it's called the race tune because it's really designed for race use only, but we take everything we had learned at the track with our race testing and we apply that all in our performance tune. And, really, you're almost going to make pretty much the same numbers. They're just designed for that aggressive daily drivers, something for the street. Justin: There you go. Well, as you can see, Paul has been working very hard on the tunes here. You guys all know this car. Again, then you see how it's making this power, you see the numbers here on paper, so if you guys want to pick up a Bama tune for your ride, you should know where to get it by now. I understand that the custom tunes are designed to work as the normal driving setting. Will I get any advantage by changing the mode to "track" when I get to the drag strip? Also, how long must I run my car after uploading the race tune before the computer adjusts all the trims? The track is 50 miles away. Is there a right way to do this? Thanks.

  • Since the custom tunes only change the normal driving setting, there would not be an advantage to changing the vehicle into track mode. When uploading a new tune, we highly recommend driving the vehicle through a full drive cycle to the computer to adjust to the tune. A drive cycle is typically 70 miles.

I live in CA, will the tuner store my stock tune so I can switch back to stock tune if I need to have my car smog checked?

  • The Bama X4/SF4 Power Flash Tuner will allow you to save the stock tune on the tuner. So if you ever need to go back to the stock tune, you have the ability to do so.

I have a 2017 GT with AirAid intake and Borla exhaust. I see in questions that the Bama X4/SF4 comes with one tune. Is that tune for a stock GT? Do I need to get the tune when I buy at first to match up with what I have in the car now? Or is that tune ok to use right out of the box? Or order it first with a new tune to match to what I have already?

  • When you order the tuner, Bama will send you a form with a few questions in regards to the modifications you have done on your car. You will supply them with the needed information so that they can create the custom tunes for your vehicle. The tuner will come with the custom tunes on it.

If i tune my car with the stock air box and then i buy for example a jlt intake i have to tune the car again? And it gives the option to tune with an intake ?

  • Hi, A tune update is usually required when installing a CAI intake on a 15+ Mustang, to get a tune update emailed to you, you will need to order a Bama Tune File (Free Tunes for Life Members Only) Item# 38051 either over the phone or on the website and fill out a new tune sheet. I want to know if this fits a 2017 gt because i read the coments and i dont see any 2017 gt and i want to know if i have to download the tune in a pc or i just plug the tuner and follow the steps in the video

  • The Bama X4/SF4 Power Flash Tuner would work with 15-17 Mustang GTs. This tuner would come preloaded with the first custom tune. Any retunes in the future would need to be downloaded from a PC to the device.

From what I understand, this tuner goes not come with the ghost cam programming. How do I get the ghost cam tune and how much does it cost? Also, can the ghost cam tune damage the variable timing components?

We recommend consulting with BAMA to ensure your Mustang is capable of supporting a ghost cam tune.     Very disappointed mustang owner.

    I dont think your company will publish my review..but i just hope that someone who cares about your customer will take the time to read my review...on American muscles end..you got my order into the system very fast and accurate.when bama got my tunes..i had a very rough time updating and down loading my tune..then bama didnt send my 93 octane tune..and 93 is the only gas i run in my mustang..after starting up my car now with the new 93 tune.all my car dose is rev very high threw warm up..and now after 60 miles with the new tune..i have a check engine light....i dont know what to do...i worked very hard to buy my car..i have spent alot of money to american muscle to make it a really nice looking mustang...im not very happy with the outcome of the money i gave for this x4 tuner..i dought that anyone will respond to this review..but i just wanted you guys to know how i feel about the product.thank you..jim B.

    Got my tune and the performance tune works great but the race tune throws a code everytime. I been trying to get a hold of Bama to resolve this but I cannot contact them in any way.

    2017 5.0 GT named "LUCIFER"

    the bama X4/SF4 is a very easy tuning tool to use, mine was sent with no tunes because being a new 2017 GT . I had to pull engine ECM numbers from tuner , I received flashes within two hours, tuner was easy to download, great instructions, installed the V93 race tune with no issues, tune helped throttle response and bottom end torque, motor is equipped with magnaflow street cat back exhaust and KandN CAI , runs great, thanks AM and BAMA !!!!!!!

    Bama X4/SF4 tune review

    Great service from AM and the tune guys at Bama! I chose not to use the supplied tunes but have a local tuner Sai Li to do the tune. My base was 382.62 / 365.50 and Sai moved it up to 402.32 / 375.53. Used a std Dynojet with std smoothing of 5. Run conditions: 81.64* F and 29.96 in-hg humidity: 27. This is not a race or performance tune but a combo and gives the best of both. Concerning performance parts on my 2016 manual GT which include a Airaid cold air intake ( no insert ) and the resonator delete with an FP X pipe, and Roush axel back mufflers. The base hp / torque is right in line with the 435 crank power with a 12 driveline loss. So I'm very pleased with the gains. The throttle response is very quick and you can feel the performance increases. Overall the performance gains is primarily from the tune and not so much the parts. I've learned not to believe the advertising but go with actual Dyno or track numbers.

    Great

    93 octane race tune is the tune to get. My automatic shifts hard and is ready to get up and go in every gear. This tune completely eliminates the lag time on the cars acceleration. The tune itself is nice and dropped my 0-60 down .90 seconds, but adding a CAI makes big gains in performance with the tune. This was easily the best $400 spent.

    The install was very easy. I feel more of a pool when I am accelerating. Of course I had the Bama tune with the intake because that's recommended. Can't go wrong with this modification.

    2017 Mustang GT 6MT

    Purchased with 93 Octane tunes. Because of some quirk with the X4 and the 2017 Mustang, the tunes had to be emailed after I sent in some information gathered using the X4 (minus 1 star for ease of use). The actual use of the unit is straight forward by following the easy to understand directions. The tune Pros: The tune feels strong. Throttle response is excellent - much better than stock. Power seems better, but it's hard to quantify. Installed with a TB spacer and CandL Racer CAI. Per the advertisements, this should equal 48 RWHP. Don't think it makes this much, but it's close. Note: The CandL needs a barrier between engine/radiator and the air filter - IAT runs higher than stock air box. The tune Cons: The only problem I have after two weeks of use is with cold starts. And no, I haven't contacted AM for an adjustment (yet). Cold idle is a little higher than stock. But, the main gripe is that, during cold run, RPM doesn't drop between gears. This makes gear changes a little awkward for the first few minutes. I can live with this if it doesn't get worse with fall and winter temps. Overall I'm satisfied with the results Yes, I would do it again. This has to be one of the easiest ways to get better throttle response and a little more kick.

    Very good gains

    This JLT kit works great. Did notice the hp gains. It needs a tune so can't judge it by itself. The intake temps lower quickly as you drive to very close to ambient temp.

    Great overall product and service!

    Very impressed with the Bama SCT X4! Super simple to work with, with lots of function. Step by step written directions and videos are available for all functions (install, update, adding tunes, etc.) I noticed a huge gain in horsepower and torque. Haven't put it on the dyno to see the actual numbers, but it's a difference you can feel. I would highly recommend the product for its ease of use and multiple tuning options. Paired with Bama tunes, this tuner is amazing! Thank you to Bama for their quick response on tune changes and new tune requests!

    Love the change in shifting with the automatic. The instructions that are on it, on line, and videos Are wrong! You do not update it when you get one. I spent over two hours trying. Tech support said just plug it into the car and download.

    WOW!!!!

    I can't believe what a difference this made with the custom tunes. I was a little skeptical about how effective they would be without Bama actually having my car and tuning it on a dyno but I'm very impressed. I have mbrp catback and a kandn cai on my new 2016 5.0 and before I installed the the X4 it ran great but it just felt like it had so much more waiting to be released. Bama raised the rev limiter which in itself made a gigantic difference. When the 5.0 gets into 7,000 rpm it sounds like music, everyone thats within a block comes running to see whats making that incredible sound. I dont know about mpg because I can't keep my foot out of it. I would highly recommend getting the X4 with custom tunes by Bama, they know what they are doing.

    All jokes aside, you get exactly what you pay for, be sure to fill out the vehicle details correctly, and you will receive your tuner with the files pre-loaded, and everything just goes as you would expect. Many updates required to the unit before connecting to the car, but that too goes as smoothly, no worries, if you use a cell phone and computer, you can handle this too. Easy... and the performance after the tune well worth it... and the tunes for life will come in handy as I do additional mods going forward.

    it gave the engine a little loopie sound like a cam was installed probably because the cam timeing was changed by the tuner.so far so good haven't really got on it yet only have 481 miles on the car.
