Fuel and Oil Don't Mix. Crankcase pressures can force oil into the combustion chambers through the PCV circuit. The JLT solution is to catch the oil in the flow before it can make it into the cylinders, where it might dilute fuel and decrease octane levels. The JLT oil separator prevents the oil fumes in your engine's crankcase vent flow from entering the intake tract.

Version 3.0. JLT improved on the designed of their old Oil Separator with the introduction of their new and improved Version 3.0. The first big change you will notice is that the Version 3.0 Separator has a larger 3 ounce capacity, which is almost double that of their previous model. Another important difference is the filter media. Older JLT Separators used a Ford Motorcraft pre-filter, but now JLT uses a 1/2" thick 1/16th" aluminum honeycomb filter with a mesh stainless steel screen to trap even more fine oil vapors than before to prevent them from gumming up your engine.

Superior Quality. Proudly manufactured right here in the USA, this JLT Performance Air/Oil Separator is CNC-machined from a solid block of billet aluminum for superior strength. Designed with a rubber o-ring, this Separator will maintain a tight leak-free seal. The base features a knurled texture, so that it can easily be gripped for removal during routine oil changes. JLT then completes their Catch Can in a durable clear anodized satin finish for impressive good looks and long lasting corrosion resistance.

Easy Straight Forward Installation. JLT designed their Separator to be an easy straight forward install that can be completed in under 30 minutes using basic hand tools. The included PCV silicone hoses feature pre-attached stock-style quick-disconnect fittings making JLT's Catch Can a true plug-n-play upgrade. All the necessary brackets and hardware are included with no cutting or extra modifications required.

Not CARB Certified. This JLT Performance Air/Oil Separator is not CARB certified at this time; therefore, it is not legal for use in California or other states adopting California emission standards. Not legal for use on pollution controlled motor vehicles; intended for off road use only.

Application. This Satin JLT V3.0 Oil Separator is specifically designed to be used on the passenger side of the 2011-2018 F-150s equipped with either the 2.7L/3.5L EcoBoost, 5.0L or 6.2L engine.

BILLS

  • Unfortunately, the JLT V3.0 Satin Oil Separator has not been tested on the 2016 Edge Sport. We can only guarantee fitment for 11-17 F150s with either the 2.7L, 3.5l, 5.0 or 6.2l motors.

For the 2012 f150 ecoboost do I need to buy 2 of these or just 1

JasonS

  • Hello, JasonST5U3444565 majority of the blowby comes from the passenger side. You will be fine with just the passenger one.

Does the installation of this seperator on a '013 F-150 E-boost require removing the engine cover ?

John

  • Hello! For this JLT V3.0 Satin Oil Separator - Passenger Side it does require the removal of the engine cover. This is done on the ECOBOOST 3.5 by removing engine cover by removing oil fill cap and pulling up on the cover. On the ECOBOOST 2.7 Remove engine cover by loosening 10mm nuts(2), oil cap and pull up on cover. Hope this helps!

    Check your hoses

JLT makes excellent oil separators, but check to see what kind of uses you receive. The Mustang JLT separators all use the OEM hard nylon tubes that are rated for use with oil/gas vapors. But for some reason, JLT chose to use Thermoid Air Brake Hoses (SAE J1402A) for some of the other applications (EcoBoost F-150/SHO/Explorer). Thermoid does not recommend the use of these hoses for gas vapors, and the pin hole vents in the hoses don't help as they were designed for moisture to vent out. Instead, gas vapors seep out of the pores of the hoses, and I found out the hard way after my garage just smelled of gasoline after 2 weeks of using the JLT. It was easy to switch out the hoses for Gates PCV/EEC hose (SAE J30R6) or fuel hoses (SAE J30R7) as they were 1/2" ID. Some of the vehicles don't have problems if all the separators catch is engine oil, but the EcoBoost GTDI engines have a lot of fuel dilution in the oil - so the separators are catching mainly fuel vapors and condensation. Again, these are great overall separators (not as efficient as RX or UPR - but still decent) if they use the OEM hard nylon tubes. If they have Thermoid Air Brake hoses, be prepared to swap them for PCV/EEC/Fuel hose which isn't hard or expensive to do.

    Works... but at a price

With such a great price point I was really excited to try this oil separator solution for my 2013 F150 3.5L Ecoboost. Bottom line, this thing works advertised, lots of collected sludge but the low price will cost your sense of smell. The problem seems to be a leak in the coupling seal between the valve cover exhaust point and the intake for the can. Honestly after a couple of months trying to cure the very strong crankcase smell in my cab whenever i run the environmental controls, i just took it off and put the factory elbow back on. Problem solved. I'm now on the hunt for another solution that will likely cost me a bit more money to get the same result. It's worth it for me to have a vehicle that doesn't smell like the inside of a oil change pit.

    Works Great!

Catches so much garbage that could be going directly into your engine. Definitely recommend if you have an ecoboost.
