Improve Horsepower And Torque. The Kooks Long Tube Header and Off-road Shorty X-pipe combo kit for the manual 2005 to 2010 GT Mustangs will balance out the exhaust pressure to increase flow over the restrictive stock exhaust system resulting in more horsepower, torque, and better throttle response.

Quality Construction. Manufactured from 1-5/8" mandrel bent 304 stainless steel tubing Kooks Long Tube Headers are TIG welded for strength, and feature a leak-free ball flange design to fit perfectly into the included 2.5" diameter 304 stainless steel Shorty X-pipe for excellent exhaust flow and performance.

Recommended Upgrade. To realize the full power potential that this Header and X-pipe combo kit has to offer, AmericanMuscle recommends a custom tune with a Mustang Handheld Tuner to reprogram the vehicles computer (ECU) for proper operation.

Application. This Kooks Header and matching Off-road X-pipe combo kit is designed specifically for the 2005 to 2010 4.6L GT and Bullitt Mustangs equipped with a manual transmission.

What about ground clearance? I have a 2010 that's been lowered 2 inches with Eibach Sportline springs and want to make sure I'm not going to drag these off.

    • This Kooks Header & Off-Road X-Pipe Combo will hang a little lower than the factory piping, like most of the long tube headers on the market. If your vehicle is substantially lowered and ground clearance is a concern, we would highly recommend a skid plate of some sort to avoid any damage to the headers.

So what happens to all the O2 sensors when installing this kit?

    • The Kooks Long Tube Headers and Off-Road X-Pipe will retain all 4 existing O2 sensors. These will need to be transferred from your existing exhaust.

I took my time installing these over a period of 4 days in my garage on jack stands, In some of the reviews and install instructions they tell you to jack up the engine, remove engine mounts, move the ac compresser ect , I didn't do any of those things, granted it may have increased my install time but the end result was the same. As far as sound goes, I coupled my header system with the Borla complete touring system, and I think it sounds great, not enough to wake up the folks next door at 5am when you leave for work unless you want to, then just punch it.

Installed the Kooks headers on my son's 2008 Mustang GT/CS and the headers and x pipe are very top quality products. They come with all hardware. They look great and sound even better. Only wish the X-Play would have come with hangers to go back in stock location. But was able to make my on and Tig weld them to the pipe.

Can't believe I waited so long!

I have been wanting these long tubes for well over a year and since I already had the motor pulled to do a full rebuild, I decided to pull the trigger. I am so glad I did. The car sounds amazing. For starters, I already had a fairly unique exhaust setup. I was running an O/R x pipe to Pypes m80s with FR500S axlebacks. Now, I'm running these with the same m80s and axlebacks and to me, its absolutely perfect. Believe it or not, these mellowed out the exhaust. Great sound on start up, but not wake the dead loud like my set up was before. Fairly tame, yet noticeable while cruising, then opens up when you get on it. The car feels a million times stronger, but this was combined with a build and other goodies, so I cant speak on the power add by these alone. But I absolutely recommend these to anyone that wants headers. You pay for what you get... spend the extra money.

Kooks Long Tube Headers Sound Sweet

Headers fit well, and gaskets were top notch, no re-tightening was necessary. Sound and performance are worth the extra money!

Kooks - The Obvious Choice For Serious Mustang Intosiasts

After a lot of comparing, I decided to order the Kooks LT's and O/R X-pipe from AM. Right out from the box everything looked great except that there was a lot of metal filings that I had to degrease and wash thoroughly, I also did not like the aluminum header gaskets that were supplied with the kit so I got a set of Fel Pro's instead, that was my only disappointments. The install went well especially being done with jack stands on the floor. I tried to cut corners by not removing the engine mounts or steering shaft or A/C comp. But I ended up having to remove everything just to gain access to tighten the header bolts. I found that the biggest pain was getting the passenger side engine mount off and on being behind the A/C comp. The Kooks LT's looks great and sounds really loud once paired with Ford Hot Rod Cams and a tune, it was worth all the cuts and bruises. One bit of advise when removing the stock H-pipe, support the rest of the exhaust because I bent my muffler hanger brackets and had to remove the mufflers and straighten the brackets. I would definitely recommend this product wether you choose to do the install or have a shop install it. Thanks AM for another great product.

      Sounds and feel great

Installation was not too bad, just getting to tighten the bolts on the headers was a bit of a pain even with the motor slightly lifted. The sound this system produces is just nice, when driving around it isn't too loud but once you want to get up and go it wont disappoint. I was told by my buddy who helped me install it is to check the bolts that hold the connections a few times for the first week because they need to go through a few heat cycles and tend to get a bit loose.

      Tons of power and noise

I now have a late 60's era mustang due to this product. It really made the car breath better and unleash some horses. It fits great and the deep throaty sound is fantastic. This setup gave me about 50hp with a cai and intake manifold from ford racing. I would recommend this to any ford enthusiast.

      Kooks Headers and Off-Road X-Pipe

I love my new Headers and X pipe it sounds amazing paired with my Corsa Extremes. It pulls harder in the higher rpm rang than it did before. It took me about 6 hours to do the install. The fit and quality is incredible.

      Kooks LT Header & O/R X Pipe

This combination definitely wakes up the car; along w/an existing Borla cat-back, the sound is incredible. The before/after compared to the stock manifold makes me wish I had made the upgrade a long time ago. Increase in torque is most noticable at 3000 rpm and above...pulls hard when you stomp the gas. Don't have the tools to self-perform, so it was an easy decision to go w/local shop. Shop recommended Kooks or ARH; comparable price between the two so I chose Kooks b/c of the header comparison 5.0 Mustang did a while back. All materials arrived neatly and securely packaged; shop had no problem w/the install and fit & finish are perfect. Definite head turner. One caution will no longer have any desire to listen to your radio after this install. Well worth the investment!

I went back and forth deciding on the bbk or catted kooks ones. I pulled the trigger and opted for these. I have the o/r roush extreme exhaust(no mufflers),roush cai and got the tune from BAMA. As soon as I turned on the stang my face was in shock. These are loud!!! I love them. My friend has a Camaro SS and he couldn't stop raving about how nice it sounds. Overall they look nice, sound awesome and if you love driving with a smirk on your face....get me!!!!!

      Love the exhaust combo!!

Although there are cheaper exhaust combos out there, you will never, ever go wrong with kooks. My dad and I installed the headers and mid pipe in our garage in under 8 hours taking our good old time. The quality and fitment of the headers is second to none. The car sounds awesome now (paired with a roush off road axle back exhaust). This combo really woke the car up. The ride pulls like a crazy/mad ape in the mid and upper range of the band. If you are on the fence about these long-tube headers (or long-tube headers in general) get them and i promise you will always have a smirk on your face after mashing the gas!

K00ks long tube headers and off road cross pipe

This combination sounds great!!! You can feel the extra power in the upper rpm range. Just make sure you have some knowledge and the right tools before you tackle this project and u should be ok.
