      They grew on me

I expected them to be loud and crazy. But they make your mustangs tone perfect for the muscle car. If you want that crazy sound hitting the pedal go for something else. But if you want 60s notes, welcome to the club.

      Awesome sound!!!

My co-worker recomended me these mufflers. I did some research and wasn't too impress on some of the videos I saw on You Tube. Finally my co-worker brought his car and I was hooked right away with the nice Old School sound this mufflers have. I got them installed in a shop for $180 since I had some rusted clamps and the ones included were cheap.

The Way the 3v 4.6L should sound!

Currently have a JEGs off-road H pipe, originally had SLPs which were WAY too loud. Switched to: http://www.americanmuscle.com/flowmaster-ss-axleback-0510gt.html which was far more streetable and sounded very good. This year I wanted something new. Installed the MACs yesterday. For sound level, about the same as the Flowmaster 60s. BUT for sound quality the MACs certainly have the more favorable "muscle sound." Barely any "3v buzz" and no infamous trumpeting. It is all a very deep/aggressive pulsing and burgling exhaust note. The only pain was the fitment, not quite a flush fit. There is a drone but not terrible. Very happy. 4 stars for overall satisfaction for sound quality and some issues during install.

Second MAC exhaust system on a Stang

I love the sound of this exhaust system. I had a set on my 01GT and now on my 06. To get the prochamber to follow. Can pick out of a line up of other mustangs.

      Best so far

I have Dynatech long tubes and a catless H pipe. Started with Ford racing Stingers. Next Bassanis. They were great at idle and low RPMs but the drone and volume at WOT were mind numbing. Thes MACs are plenty loud at idle and cruising around but don't blow my ear drums when I'm into the pedal hard. A little drone.I can still hear the blower whine. Couldn't with the Ford Racing and Bassanis. Had to loosen the over axle pipes for proper fitment.

When the dealer tells you the exhaust note is "stock"

I purchased my 2010 Mustang GT w/5 speed manual at the beginning of this month. Car had a great exhaust note for being "stock." I found out over the weekend that the previous owner installed these Mac Axle-Back's! The exhaust note is excellent. At idle, the exhaust produces a deep yet quite rumble. At city speeds (30 MPH) there is significant drone. I like the tone of this exhaust drone though, it lets people know that you don't have the base V6. At WOT these sound muscular, yet they maintain a civil attitude. I highly recommend these to anyone looking for an axle-back setup, you will not be disappointed!

      Great Sound!!

I have the MAC axle-back exhaust and personally I love it! MAC has a real low and raspy sound that other companies cant really compare to. It has a sound that you can tell that somebody is coming, I love hearing other peoples car and honestly unless you MAC nobody will have the same tone that you have and that's what I love, its def a head turner sound and I have the MAC long tube headers and a MAC X-Pipe. Amazing amazing sound quality, I highly highly recommend MAC if you love a v8 rasp!!

      Dron to the MAX

Looks good when installed, the overall sound is very nice, but the DRON will make your ears bleed on any drive longer than a half hour. Don't even think about cruse control, the steady DRON will make it the worst drive ever. So now I'm having to get a new system and start over, not to mention the cost and time and stress. In all my years of building cars, this is one system I Would Not Recommend. Unless it's a track build...

      Fit should be much better

Zero complaints with how this exhaust sounds. I love it. That said...neither side could be lined up with the cutouts in the bumper during my garage floor installation. The local muffler shop had to massage them to fit with a torch and some bending of the hangers. The clamps are terrible (use quality clamps). After getting the mufflers lined up at the shop then look great.

      Most growl for the price

Love this exhaust note. I reviewed a lot of exhausts before making this decision. The only downfall is the drone at 1800-2000 RPM. I've grown to like it but other may find annoying. There are plenty of drone videos to hear it for yourself but as I said before I was extremely happy with the note.

      Ugh, YES.

This is by far my favorite exhaust I have heard on any 4.6L mustang GT. VERY VERY deep, at a nice loud (but not too loud) volume. It does have a pretty bad drone, but I don't mind it at all!!

      easy as pie

the axel-back mufflers from mac were the least complicated mufflers to install I've had yet. simple six bolts on and off. loosen the four h-pipe bolts then loosen the two mufflers after having soaked the bolts with WD Forty. twist the pipes loose, twist them out of the muffler...done. slip the muffler out of the hanger and reverse the process.

      LOUD!

Just installed my Mac axle backs and I am more than pleased with this product. I really love the exhaust note. Install wasn't bad once i realized i needed metric sockets. If you're like me then you been researching the sound clips of exhaust for your Stang well look no further. If you want to wake up the sound of your GT as well as the neighbors this product is a must

      2 thumbs up

I bought these to replace my rusted out Flowmaster 40's. Fit and finish is decent. There were some weld splatters on the cans and a few scuffs probably from packaging but nothing that can be seen once installed. Both flanges were a little bent in but literally 5 seconds with a pair of pliers straightened them out. The mufflers have a mirror finish on them. I wasn't sure I would like so much shine under my car but they look sick on tungsten grey. Install was easy but plan ahead and buy new clamps or reuse the factory ones. As others reviewed, the provided clamps are horrible. I just broke the spot weld free from the factory axleback clamps dnd reused them, tight with no leaks. The volume from start up, idle, acceleration, to WOT is much louder than the Flowmasters I replaced. Also much deeper tone. The drone is about the same but gets really loud right at 2000 rpm. Not bad to me since I've had Flows on 3 different cars and trucks so I'm use to it. Wife and kids won't like it on long trips though. Tip: Before installation, shake the mufflers up and down, left and right to get the debris out of them. Mine had metal shavings and weld slag rolling around in them. This will get rid of any rattles before they start instead of waiting for the debris to eventually be blown out by the exhaust. Overall I'm very happy with the purchase and American Muscle. This axleback exceeded my expectations for the sound that I wanted which was louder and deeper tone than the Flowmasters.

      MAC - Hit or miss

Over the years I have had many exhaust combos on my mustangs, this is my first and most likely last experience with MAC. the mufflers would not align properly, even with adjusting the H-Pipe. this could have been to poorly packaged units from mac. I also did have a slight rattle in one muffler that was noticed by others on the forums. If you look at the connection on the mac it does not have an alignment slot (as others DO) this is a problem. they also give you very cheep band clamps... If you like DRONE than this is the exhaust for you... lots of DEEP DEEP DRONE, almost no mustang sound, just a bunch of humming air that is loud and will shake the glasses off the old lady driving next to you... when I was 18 this would be cool but in my early 30's not so much...

      Axle back MAC

If you've got LT's and an H-pipe and you're after loud, you've found it. Normal driving/cruising, not bad, but there is drone. The fit is good, the quality is decent but they do look a little on the flimsy side as the case appears to be thin and you can actually tell how it's chambered. But, they are polished stainless, so they do look good!

      SOme helpful hints to install

Ok.. I'm going to write the How-to I wished I received. 1st step is to throw out the muffler clamps that come with this kit. Go to your local auto parts store and purchase 2 21/2 muffler clamps. The clamps on my old mufflers and tack welded to my old mufflers (2006 Mustang GT) so I could not reuse them. Remove all the old hangers first using a 13mm socket. The far rear are easy to get to. The hanger nearer to the axle are a pain. You will need a swivel socket extension to get to the top bolt. Pull the muffler down and then you get to the bottom bolt. The rest of the install is fairly straight forward. When installing the new mufflers, install the hangers first from the axle to the bumper. Don't tighten the connections until your sure the mufflers are where you like them.

      Great Product.

Overall excellent product. Got Meineke's to install these on my 05 Mustang V6, and I was very happy with the outcome. Sounds deep without too much rasp or drone (common for v6's), and looks nasty with its 4" chrome tips. I recommend for any dual exhaust, 6 or 8 cyl engine. I will post a video as soon as I make one.
