Will these quiet my car down alil compared to pypes pypebomb with bbk longtubes and catted xpipe?

      • Yes, the pype bombs are completely straight through mufflers, where this muffler is chambered, so it will be more quiet relatively speaking.

INSTALLATION How is this set up installed is it a blot on .or di i have to cut pipes and welld or something

      • I have installed over 20 exhausts on our '11, '12 and '13 Mustangs. Its rather simple and I will try and give you a step by step. Here is how I do it. You will need 13 mm and 15 mm wrenches and sockets. Lube the 3 rubber mounts that each muffler mounts slide in to. Loosen the clamp where the muffler meets the rest of the exhaust. Push up on the exhaust pipe to move it away from the clamp. At this point you should be able to slide the muffler out of the forward mounts and then remove it from the rear mount. If you have trouble you can push the muffler toward the back of the car, while it is still mounted to the rubber. This will expose the forward muffler mounting bracket bolts, which can be removed and the bracket can be lowered with the muffler, then installed on the new mufflers and reinstalled in reverse order. The clamp from the stock muffler must be removed and used to install the new muffler. I like to hand tighten the clamp, then move the tips into position before tightening it all the way. I hope this helps.

This axle back is all you need

I was originally gonna buy the Flowmaster axle back but decided on th MAC after reading reviews. I’m glad I did. It’s sounds old school (not that backfire popping sound). It’s louder than stock but not too loud if you don’t replace the resonator. Very happy and yes I would buy it again

Now this is how a Mustang should sound!

Installed these on my 5.0, and wow, what a difference. I have this paired with an H pipe and resonator deletes and it really gives it that classic muscle sound. Drone is not the worst, although it was going to effect me no matter what seeing as I have a convertible. If you're on the fence about these just do it. You won't regret it.

          Love/Hate

I've had these on my car for a few months now and I have very mixed feelings about them. I absolutely love the way they sound at low idle and under mild throttle. However, once you put any pressure on the pedal they turn into a rattling mess. A 5.0 is supposed to sound mean under any amount of throttle. I almost don't want to step on it because of the tin can sound that results. Maybe I have too much airflow from my CAI, high flow cats, and Boss 302 intake manifold and they can't handle that much pressure out. With little strain on the engine they do sound magnificent though.

          Deep Not Raspy

Waited to review 'til I had some miles on them, about 500 since install. Only negative is some drone 1800-2000 under acceleration. Don't notice it as much highway cruising in the same range and seems to have decreased a little bit with some miles on them. Cracking a window just a bit or dropping the top really cuts down on what drone there is. Now the positives - Research paid off. Watched/listened to many axle back videos and decided on MAC. I REALLY love the very deep throaty sound! Even decelerating sounds great. Reminds me of the muscle cars of my younger days. Much lighter than the OE axle backs. Coupled with a CAI, 3" SS H pipe and tune this DOES turn some heads. Maybe my best recommendation? My wife commented the other day how much she LOVES the sound of the MAC Axle Backs on our Pony! I'm over 50 and she's getting close (although she doesn't look it!). Enough said! If you want your Mustang to sound great, get a set of MAC's!

          Wow!

I heard these had a deep rumble, but was not prepared for how awesome these sound. Highly recommend if you want that aggressive muscle car sound. Install was easy. Make sure to remove intermediate pipes and remove clamps from factory exhaust.

          A Mixed Bag

I had MAC axlebacks on my '99 GT and they sounded simply awesome! Yes, there was drone around 1800-2100RPM, but it was livable (and I was younger). Thinking that I wanted to go louder than my GT500 axlebacks, and with the help of the other reviews here and on forums, I ordered the MACs again. While they're nicely put together, especially for the price, and the external sound and volume is again awesome, inside the car is a different story. Sound and volume are subjective, and to my ear these are MUCH louder inside and out than the GT500's. MUCH. Inside, the drone is unbearable. I think I now have fillings that have come loose. It literally gave me a headache. Research shows that a resonance tube (it goes by a few names) can be made and welded on, and that should solve most of the drone (research also showed that boom mat and/or close-cell foam does not stop drone). I may try the resonance tube or sell them since AM does not take back exhaust once installed. Do your research to make sure these are for you.

Perfect Exhaust note for your GT

After previously having Mac exhaust on one of my foxbody mustangs I was anxious to try it on my new coyote. My mufflers arrived when expected, and we're packaged well. The next morning I put them on the car. The install went quickly, a 14 mm socket and an extention was all that was needed. Once the car was off the jackstands I couldn't wait to hear it. Let me tell you, I'm impressed. Even with my CATS and resonators still on the car it is much louder... and deeper... this is how mustangs should sound.

Great sound - won't work with Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch

They look great. They sound great. If you have a Draw-Title trailer hitch on your Mustang they won't work. The rear hangers interfere with the trailer hitch. I had to cut the rear hangers off and fabricate my own to clear the hitch. They drone at highways speeds but overall sound fantastic.

          My Favorite Sound

Parts arrived on time (Thanks AM!), both units in a box wrapped in bubble wrap and plastic sheeting. Condition of the box was poor, but the parts were not damaged. Took about an hour and a half to install, taking my time. Tips - loosen the mid pipes at the H-pipe end to make disconnecting the stock mufflers easier, and spray soapy water on the hangers to make it easier to slide them off. Sounds amazing. Really, really deep and bassy without droning or rattling. Not loud enough to stop conversation or startle people, but loud enough to turn heads. The guys at my lube shop say that these are the best sounding for a GT that they've heard, and I agree. The tips could be polished up a bit more, maybe some more decoration, but I couldn't be happier with the sound and will stand by these.

Deep and Aggressive Muscle Car Sound

Great overall product quality out of the box especially for the money spent. Exhaust is easy to install and fits the way it should. I am VERY happy with sound these put out. They have that deep, aggressive sound without the raspy backfire that most axle-backs out there seem to have. I am very happy with this product.
