Review & Install Video

Hey everyone, Stephanie with AmericanMuscle.com, here with my review of the MAC Boom Tube Axleback Exhaust System, fitting your 2015 to '16 Fastback GT. So looking at all the axlebacks out there for the S550, I'd say that this one falls in the louder and deeper side. If you're looking for loud on a budget, this would be a good system to consider. MAC basically designed these resonator tips with perforated baffles and that's where all of your sound is coming from. This is deeper than stock for sure, and what I like about it, is that it doesn't get too raspy throughout the RPMs. On the loudness scale I'd call this one a four out of five. Of course if you do delete that resonator or add headers down the road, it's only going to make this even louder, and that's just something to consider. Looking at the construction here, this thing does have two and a half inch stainless steel so it should hold up through all different types of road conditions. The tubes themselves are four inch polished stainless steel, and they're also angle cut which I like because it gives that nice muscle car look. There are some small sacrifices in quality which I could tell when we pulled this thing out of the box. The metal quality clearly not as finished looking as others, but in general the welds actually look good and this thing fits well in my opinion and has a good sound. My one big gripe is that they could've provided nicer clamps. They worked fine, but I just prefer a healthier, thicker clamp. As far as price, MAC is definitely coming in in the lower end between 400 and 500 bucks, which I think is quite a deal considering the sound that you're getting with this. However, compared to similar resonator style axlebacks, this system does fall more in the middle of the pack. As far as the install goes, everything went together fine and the fitment was good, so you can expect one to two hours for the install. I know that some people had mentioned in the past with older gens that this system has been hard to get even in the back, but this one didn't give us any trouble at all. So I'm calling this a two out of three wrenches on the scale, and that's due to the cutting that we all know is required with the install of a 2015 axleback. Just make sure along with your standard hand tools that you guys have a Sawzall and some safety glasses. Wrapping up here, I think the MAC Boom Tube is a good option for anyone who's looking for a pretty loud exhaust without breaking the bank and doesn't mind some sacrifices in the quality of materials. Take another listen and see what you think of the MAC Boom Tube axleback for all 2015 and up Fastback GTs. And for all things Mustang, keep it right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

The Boom Tube. The MAC Performance "Boom Tube" Axle-Back System eliminates the restrictive stock mufflers entirely from your Mustang to uncork the exhaust flow reducing back pressure for an increase in power, performance and sound.

Resonator Tips. Often imitated but never duplicated, the MAC Boom Tube Axle-back Exhaust uses uniquely designed dual wall resonator tips that feature perforated baffles to provide a loud throaty exhaust note without the irritating popping of the imitators.

Durable Steel Construction. Constructed from 2.5" diameter mandrel-bent 304 stainless steel tubing, the Boom Tube axle-back system features polished 4" angle cut stainless steel dual wall tips for impressive muscle car styling and sound.

Cut & Clamp Installation. The installation of this Axle-Back Exhaust system requires cutting and removing the stock muffler assemblies and clamping the new muffler assemblies in place. Clamps and instructions are provided.

Application. The MAC "Boom Tube" Axle-Back exhaust system is specifically designed to fit the 2015-2017 GT Fastback Mustangs only, not compatible with convertible models.

Please Note. MAC Performance does not make any claims that their Boom Tube exhaust will meet any federal or local noise regulations or laws. Please check your local and state ordnances for installation and usage regulations.

They have the perfect level of "loudness" while keeping a low growl. a little bit of drone at 1600-1800 rpms. The only real problem was the fitment. The pipes had too much of a bend and could not be adjusted back to the right position leaving it 2" short. Cut the muffler off of these and the stock mufflers off and after a quick weld, all was well.
