    Review & Install Video

Hey everybody, I'm Justin with, and this is my quick review of the MAC Catback Exhaust system with Pro Chamber available for you 2015 and newer V6 Mustang. You should be checking out a Pro Chamber Catback for your V6 if you're looking for a little bit more volume out of that three seven you like what the Pro Chamber does for your ride in terms of overall sound, and you wanna keep things below a $1,000. Now at the time of this video, that's gonna limit your options to the MAC systems here at AM in addition to the Gibson Catbacks that we also carry. Quick little back story on MAC here guys, they've actually been pretty familiar the Mustang ever since they built their first set of long tube headers for the fox body way back in the 80s. Now the Mustang, believe it or not, was actually on of the first production cars they've actually produced parts for. Prior to that MAC was simply just building stuff for motorcycles and one off race projects. Fast forward nearly 40 years later they're still cranking out a wide variety of parts. Including stuff for the Mustang here. All of which are made right here in the USA. Again MAC does offer two systems here at AM. This is their Pro Chamber system. Gonna be roughly a $100 more than their X Pipe Catback, but both systems are gonna utilize their patented Flow Path series mufflers. Complete with their multi passage design. Now according to MAC this is gonna increase your exhaust flow while helping to maintain very desirable exhaust tone especially in those upper RPM ranges. Now believe it or not guys these things do not have any packing what so ever. Traditionally a packing might burn out or deteriorate over the years, not the case here with the MAC mufflers. Basically this is gonna produce a very consistent exhaust tone from the day you bolt this up to your ride to basically the day you sell the car or change up your exhaust systems. Along with those flow path mufflers guys you're also getting a full 409 grade stainless steel construction through out. Great to see full stainless on a more budget friendly catback like the MAC here because ultimately it's gonna help resist corrosion far better than aluminized steel. You're also receiving two and a half inch mandrel bent tubing. Again, the Pro Chamber Mid-Pipe Flow Path mufflers all exiting out the rather large four inch polished tips. All right let's talk about the tone a little bit here. What you can expect when going with the MAC Pro Chamber. You've obviously heard the sound clips by now so you can draw your own conclusions if you're digging this thing or not. But what I can tell you is that the Pro Chamber is gonna deliver a slightly deeper tone compared to their X Pipe system. Still definitely a good tone overall so an easy three out of five on my one to five or one to wake the neighbor scale. Now I do wanna point out there is a little bit of noise inside the cabin when driving, but it's definitely nothing that's gonna drive you crazy on long trips. So what is this Pro Chamber business all about guys? Well it's MAC's trademark design used to merge all the exhaust gases or pulses into this one little area, and MAC claims that doing this helps increase your exhaust temperature increasing your exhaust velocity in the process. Basically what this equates to is more power when compared to those more traditional X or H pipe mid-pipe designs. Since catback installs are a total breeze with the S550, expect a simple one out of three wrench job here when it comes to bolting up the new MAC system to your ride. Now removing the factory catback getting this new one should only take you a couple of hours in the garage or driveway using nothing more than a basic socket set. All right guys, in my opinion the MAC Pro Chamber is bringing a lot of positives to the table. The biggest of which is price. For just south of a $1,000 you're getting a full stainless build, great tone, and finally MAC's patented Pro Chamber mid-pipe. If you're looking for a solid catback for that new V6 be sure to check out the MAC offerings here at

Improve Performance and Sound. Improve the power of your 3.7L V6 S550 Mustang and add a throaty muscular exhaust note at the same time by installing a MAC Performance Cat-Back Exhaust System. By reducing back pressure with a free-flowing exhaust, you will see rear wheel gains in both horse power and torque.

Muscle Car Rumble. The included MAC Performance Mid Pipe not only increases the horsepower and torque of your S550 Mustang, but with its unique Pro Chamber cross over design it adds a distinctive muscle car rumble to the sound of your exhaust, that the stock factory "resonator" just can't match.

Flow Path Mufflers. MAC Flow Path Chambered Mufflers feature a patented multi passage design, following Helmholtz's Theory of Tone, to produce a muffler that effectively flows exiting exhaust gases all while maintaining a desirable tone. With no packing that can burn out, Flow Path Mufflers will sound the same mile after mile, year after year.

High Quality Construction. Constructed from mandrel bent stainless steel tubing for superior strength and corrosion resistance, this MAC Performance Mustang Cat-Back Exhaust System features two "Flow Path" chambered mufflers that end with massive 4" diameter polished stainless steel slant cut exhaust tips for impressive muscle car looks and sound.

Direct Bolt-On Install. The MAC Performance Cat-Back Exhaust with Pro Chamber Mid Pipe includes all the hangers and clamps necessary to bolt straight up in the OEM factory location without any modifications required, making it a direct fit, bolt-on replacement upgrade.

    4 Top Rated Questions

Does the prochamber serve as a resonator? Does this system drone below 2,000 rpm?

    • The pro chamber is similar to an x-pipe or h-pipe more so than it is with a resonator. It won't quiet the exhaust down, but will offer a unique deep exhaust tone. In regards to drone, you shouldn't experience any under 2,000 RPM.

The question about the tube size that was answered "Its a direct fit to the existing therefore its a 2 1/4". I was under the impression that it was a 2 1/2" system exiting the Pro chamber. Is this incorrect ? Is the entire system 2 1/4" ?

    • The MAC Cat-Back Exhaust will be a complete 2 1/14" exhaust from prochamber to muffler.

      Great fit and sound

This is by far the best sounding exhaust I have heard on the V6. It gives it a nice deep euro sports car sound, no real rasp but there is a little drone cruising between 2-3k. Install was a snap took me about 2 hrs to remove factory then install and fit the mac. The key to make it really easy is take the exhaust hangers off with the factory exhaust and put me on the Mac off the car. Plus the tips and polished mufflers look awesome!

      Worth every penny!!!

I’m very happy with this purchase. No instructions on installation or removal of factory exhaust, but still pretty easy. It took 1-2 hours to install. The exhaust still purrs when idling, but has a REALLY NICE GROWL when you get on the gas, sounds like a GT. I would share the video, but the video doesn’t do it justice. It sounds so much better in person. I definitely recommend this exhaust!!!

      Mac catback

The sound is pretty raspy at first. Idle is super loud and throaty. The fit however was a little bit of a problem. The pipe fitting wasn't perfect, however after reading several reviews across the net, I think this is something that rarely happens. But after blowing out the end of one tube, it fits fine. Aside from the fit, the sound is awesome.

      MAC ProChamber Incredible

The ProChamber deepens to tone so generously, it is a must have. Removing the resonators AND cats and also extending the O2 sensors and installing highest quality mini cats that flow and increase engine Db sound a bunch. The increased sound and flow towards the ProChamber will end up coming out sounding respectful at least. Cats of some kind that function are key. Dyno ASAP and enjoy a whole new ride experience.

      Bang for your Buck Catback

If you are on a budget, and you like to change the sound of your mustang, then this one is for you! I picked this one over the X-pipe because I wanted a deep sound exhaust. I also don't want anything TOO loud since this car is going to be use as a Daily Driving. I sent it to my local shop for installation and it only took them couple of hours for fitment and installation. This exhaust system will definitely change your mustang for the better.

      Classic muscle car sound

After driving with these installed for a few weeks I absolutely love these. At first the resignated alot but now with 500 miles on them they are perfect. I absolutely love the sound it puts off. I wouldn't say they are the loudest but definitely will be heard coming down the street. I would by these again.

      Throaty idol, loud as balls.

It idols quiet enough not to wake people up but loud enough to hear it rumble. A bit of drone at 25-38is. Once you get to speed and get into 5th or 6 gear its no drone at all. Take offs or peddal down and she's a good 8 on the 1-10 scale.
