Justin here from AmericanMuscle.com, breaking down Magnaflow’s Competition Series Cat-Back exhaust for the 2011 and newer V6 Mustang. This is probably one of the most aggressive kits available for the 3.7L V6, thanks in part to that 2.5” mandrel bent piping, straight through those competition series mufflers, and out the dual 4” polished tips. Now that straight through design is going to totally eliminate a lot of back pressure, making for big power gains, especially in the upper RPM range. Despite that gain in power, you can expect an extremely aggressive exhaust note, so for someone who’s trying to stay under the radar, this might not be the kit for you. The entire kit features 100% stainless steel construction, all the way down to those dual 4” polished tips. You can expect to have everything installed in about two hour’s time. This added the missing link to my V6!
Easy install, great sound! The sound of a V8, at V6 gas mileage. The pipes over the axel hit and require modifications unfortunately.Helpful (6)

Fisrt off, I paired this with magnaflows race muffler. The car sounds amazing! Better than I could have ever imagined. I'm also running long tubes and a o/r X pipe. There is drone in certain RPM ranges but not an issue for me! I did need to bend the hangers to center everything up but this could have been due to my "custom" set up. Great exhaust, bad fit
Didnt have a lift so just jacked it up and loosened the rear axle to slip the old pipes off and the new ones on. Panhand support bar couldnt fit back on and the brackets had to be placed back on upside down to fit(or backwards, dont remember). Other than that great exhaust. Sounds simply amazing. I'm running off bbk shorty headers and stock mid pipe so i still have my cats and resonators. The drone is very tolerable and does not bother me since the radio is usually on and my windows are normally rolled down. May switch to a different mid pipe to make it a lil louder but for now it sounds amazing, love it.Helpful (6)

Fits great. Sound is definetly powerful. Love the new upgrade. The clamps from the x to the pipes cannot be the factory ones. Had. To take car to muffler shop to finish the install.Helpful (7)

Nice exhaust system
This exhaust system paired with bbk tuned headers has really deep sound a lot of bass around 1000 rpms. Half throttle to full throttle you really hear them cams working sounds good. Quality of material is very good.Helpful (7)

Bass boost !
Removing the old exhaust is easy with some tall (slightly questionable) jack stands and an electric saw! Once out the weight difference is considerable, I got worn out taking the stock mufflers to the dumpster! Putting on the new mufflers and pipes required a little bit of finangling to get in but they fit! The only issue I had was with the tips touching the rear valence. I'll probably have a shop adjust it a little bit but other than that it's got a beautiful sound! 1000-2500 is nice and deep for cruising and I'm case you forget 2600 reminds you you're in America's favorite pony car!Helpful (7)

Son's reaction... awesome!
So it took about 2-1/2 hours for me to install... I did it while car was on jack stands in the garage, with the help of two teens, after cervical discectomy and fusion surgery three weeks before... so I had to take a few breaks. :) Over all I had more problem getting the old exhaust off then getting the new exhaust on. And my son's reaction to his first start... priceless! One happy 18yo who was was so appreciative afterwards, he thanked me twenty times.Helpful (6)
Ive had these exhaust installed for about a month and for some reason theres this weird almost buzzing like grinding noise only at 1,500 rpms. It can get really annoying and loud sometimes. It happens after ive been driving for about 5 minutes and it will only happen when i accelerate past 1,500 rpms and then at 2,000 rpms goes away. I checked under my car and there is no metal grinding i have no clue what it is. do you have ang ideas what that could be? Is it the exhaust settling in? Will it go away?

How much power is added with these bad boys?
The Magnaflow Competition Cat-Back Exhaust gives you about 10-15 hp and 10-15 torque plus 1-2 miles per gallon. You will also notice a difference in the sound produced by your V6 Mustang.
Will this fit a 2010 V6 Mustang if I had a local exhaust shop put it on for me?
Since this only has fitment for a 2011 & 2012 V6 Mustang, it will take custom fabrication for this to be correctly used since the 2010 V6's came with a factory Y-pipe.
Are these louder than the axle-back race series? Based off the video the magnaflow axle-back seems much louder and deeper.
The Magnaflow Race Series Axle-Back Exhaust (11-14 V6) will actually be louder than the Magnaflow Competition Cat-Back Exhaust (11-12 V6) because the Competition is a muffler'd exhaust and the Race is a muffler delete.
This would fit a 2012 gt? Piping is pretty much the same and I don’t see what would be different.
This will not fit GT models.
With custom fabrication done by an exhaust shop, you would be able to delete the mufflers.
The Magnaflow Competition Cat-Back Exhaust is designed to be a direct bolt on to the stock exhaust system. It will not be a direct bolt on to any aftermarket exhaust.
No it's not required but a tune would help maximize the power gain.
I have this set up with the long tube headers and catted x pipe. It works well and sounds aggressive.
It actually gives you about 10-15 hp and 10-15 torque plus 1-2 miles per gallon, a nice great sound that you will love for sure
