- How to Install Wheels on Your 1979-2013 Mustang
Hey everyone, I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m taking a look at our AmericanMuscle GT500 Style Wheels for your 2005 and up Mustang. GT500’s have always been one of the baddest Mustangs on the block and now your ride can enjoy the stylings of the 2010 GT500, thanks to these split 5-spoke wheels. The wheels are available with 3 different finishes, including a black painted finish, a triple dipped chrome finish, or a black machined finish. As for the sizes, the wheels are available in either an 18” diameter with an 8 inch front and 9 inch rear, or a 19” diameter with an 8.5 inch front and a 10 inch rear. Staggered fitment is cool for a couple of different reasons. First off, it looks awesome. A wider rear wheel not only improves your stance, but also helps get that power down to the ground thanks to the wider rear tire and contact patch. Not only that, it also makes for more responsive handling as well, thanks to the narrow front tire. It’s a win-win. Now, you can purchase these wheels without tires if you want; however, the smart move would be to take advantage of one of our wheel and tire combos that pair your new GT500 style wheels up with some of the better performing tires on the market today in sizes that are guaranteed to fit without rubbing, even if you’re lowered an inch or two. Not only that, you also get to take advantage of our free shipping and handling, free mounting and balancing, and optional nitrogen fill. Remember, you 2007 and up folks have to keep in mind your vehicles are equipped with a TPMS sensor. This means a tire pressure monitoring system that needs to be addressed when ordering new wheels. These aluminum AM wheels are extremely durable, but if you ever encounter any problems, every rim features a lifetime structural warranty, as well as a one year warranty on finish, you can’t beat that. There are very few mods on the market today that can change the attitude of any ride like a new set of shoes. These AmericanMuscle wheels are sure to offer the modern aggressive stylings that look great on any Mustang.

What is TPMS? The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS for short) is a factory installed safety feature on all 2007 and newer Ford Mustangs that alerts you when your tire pressure drops to an unsafe limit.
How do I keep my TPMS feature? Aftermarket wheels do not come with TPMS sensors. However, if you select 'Add TPMS Sensor Kit' and your specific year range from the options listed above, we'll install the TPMS Sensors in your new wheels!

I went with 18x9's on all four corners, with 255-45zr18 BFGoodrich gforce comp 2's. If you want to see what this looks like, my car is the tungsten grey one at costco above. The fitment is perfect, tires come almost flush with the fender well opening on all 4 corners. I thought about going staggered, but it's really not necessary. My car is pretty much stock powertrain-wise, and 255's are plenty of tire. I have to force it to lose traction. That, and I wanted to be able to rotate. I was worried about the rear fitment, thought I would need 10's to get the stance I was after, but I was completely wrong. These fit flawless, and look fantastic! The finish on them is fine, I noticed nothing wrong with it. And can't beat the price! They were on sale when I got them, 10 bucks cheaper each, but the regular price is still a great deal. Go for it, you'll love them!Helpful (10)

Great looking wheels...getting lots of looks
My son and I spent a great deal of time looking and thinking about what wheels to buy. Finally settled on these and couldn't be happier. It really gives my 'stang some attitude coupled with some wide 255 tires and installed on the car. I went with 9" all around and couldn't be happier. I still get the aggressive look I wanted, but the benefit of being able to rotate the tires. Give them a second look, and then buy them, you won't be disappointed.Helpful (11)

Look even better in person
These wheels are awesome. They really brought together my red and black color combo on my GT. They look even better once they are wrapped in some rubber and installed on your Mustang. Great style for a great price.Helpful (10)

I took the stock size summer tires off the original rims and they mounted to these just fine. They do have a built in offset so the top edge of the rim goes out almost to the edge of the fender flare. It increases the track width a bit, but there is no rubbing and they look great.Helpful (11)
Will 18" wheels fit on an '11 GT with the Brembo package? Stock brakes in the rear, but huge Brembo front brakes. Will 18" wheels clear the brakes?
yes they will clear the brembo brakes on your mustang with no issues.
What size lug nuts should I get with these?
Is there an upgrade option to go up a size on the rear tires ? Thinking like 285 or 295
Unfortunately with the pre-built wheel and tire kits, they cannot be changed for different sizes.
What is the offset of these wheels? and how much do they weigh- Thanks
The 2010 GT500 Style Matte Black Wheel will weight right around 30 lbs and have a +30mm offset.
You mention mounting and balancing facilities. Where are they?
The Staggered 2010 GT500 Style Matte Black Wheel and Sumitomo Tire Kit would be mounted and balanced prior to shipping at our PA Warehouse. These will arrive ready for you to install on your Mustang.
The tires are Z rated 99W, which means theoretically, you are safe to 168 mph.
I think 235 is a little narrow for the wheel. I have 255 and they fit perfectly with the sidewall being nearly perfectly horizontal and not stretching to reach the wheel rim.
Simple installation for anyone.
