Great fit

Easy to install took 30 minutes(have excessive experience with suspension)It lowers the butt down quite nicely. Would be better with an extra 1/2 inch but still real close to being level.

I know the 2017 is roughly the same as the 2015-16 models, but I just wanted to make sure this would fit my 2wd 2017 supercrew before I made a purchase.

Anyone use these and tow a travel trailer?

TimothyS

  • Hello! As far as I know there are no long term effects running a drop shackle. They will perform just like you had your stock shackles on with no changes to the towing capacity!

I have these shackles coming for my 16 F-150. I notice there are two holes on the top of the Shackle. Other companies state you can use one hole or the other. Are these the same? Which hole do I use? Does it change the drop height, like from a one inch to a two inch?

Smitty

  • Contrary to what the picture shows, there are only one set of holes to use. So there's no need to figure out which holes to use. They drop one inch.

    Max Trac 1" drop Shackles

If you want to change the stance of your newer F150 and level off the truck without spending a lot of money. This 1 inch drop shackle kit is the way to go. I installed the shackles units myself. It took about 2 ½ hours on my “level" driveway. This is not recommended if you do not have “all” the required tooling but, it can be done. • Remove spare tire. • Double block both front wheels. • Jack rear axle, raise both sides to free rear wheels 3 inches. • Place jack stands at spring mounting brackets and frame, set and lock. Lower and secure vehicle!! • Supporting axle with jack, Axle load off, loosen shackle nuts. • Raise or lower axle jack to remove lower bolts. Use screw driver to push out. Removing and installing the two top shackle bolts is not for the meek. The truck must be secured on jack stands with rear wheels off and spare tire removed. • Raise the rear axle up until leaf springs make contact and are forced into the underside of the bed body to allow bolts to pass between bed and frame. It will not damage anything. This will allow you to push the bolts out of the springs over the “top” of the frame rails and then do the same to install the new shackles and bolts. • Lower the axle enough to install lower bolts. Torque nuts to 90/100 lbs. The rest is easy, just put it back together. With my 2016 F150 2X4, standard cap, 8 foot bed, I am very happy with its new level look and yes the ride has improved. Lowering the rear of the vehicle a little more than an inch has worked for the best, a more sporty ride for this 325 HP FORD while in Sport Mode. Get them, you WILL like them !!

    No more rake

The overall outcome was good, would be nice to have the grease fittings already installed. Be sure to overly grease the bolts and shackles as you install, I did not as I followed the directions (which say to grease after all is installed with grease fittings) and noticed suspension squeaking in two days, called MaxTrac and they said you have to be heavy handed with the grease during install. I then took it apart and greased each component then reinstalled, no squeaks. I also think these may need shims as I have noticed some vibration now. Looks much better without the huge rake!

    Super easy to install.

Took some of the rake out of the stance. Not completely level but does look much better. Super easy install with floor jack and 13/15 deep well socket and 21mm wrench, breaker bar, floor jack and two jack stands.

    Better

This is 2nd truck I have used Max Trac drop shackles on Very good product that will give a truck a minimum drop of one inch. Very well built, most likely stronger then factory shackle and the powder coating finish is great. Great product at a great price!

    Drop Shackles

I own a 2017 Ford F150 XL, regular cab, 5.0 motor. This lowering kit was perfect. Overall drop was 1.7 inches. Back of truck is now level. Very easy to install and required no modifications. As always, American Muscle was easy to deal with and quick delivery.

    Awesome shackles

These shackles where super easy to install, and lowered the rear of my 16' F-150 exactly where I wanted it. I have the factory 20' inch wheels and now it looks like it should. These shackles also eliminated a lot of the hop and bounce from sharp turns (with bumps) and corners. Great product for for the price.

    Finally

Finally after getting my 2016 f150 I fond a 1 inch drop shackles to give my truck a level standby dropping the rear. I have bought from other places and had to return them due to fitment issues. So happy with this purchase highly recommend if your looking for a level look. Comes with grease nipple for the bushing

Did what it was supposed to.

Install was straight forward. Did around a 1.5 inch drop I think. Did not measure before. It looks pretty level. However I think the manufacturer, should install the grease zerks before shipping and not allow consumer to do so. One was fine the other did not go in right, they are self tapping. So everytime I went to grease it and pull the grease fun off, it pulled the whole grease zerk with it. I called the manufacturer and they shipped me a part out overnight , which was a new shackle with zerk installed. Although I had to redo the job, it was worth it. The ride difference is incredible around the corners and such, seems much more stable. No body roll. And the real plus is from the factory, your headlights seem to be pointing straight down to the ground. Well adding this kit, greatly improved how far my headlights shine down the road. Overall a good product. I did notice they don't seem as heavy duty as the stock shackle and you can see them move right to left, when moving the truck left to right. I hope they hold up ok. I was worried that it would sqeek or something when i am done, but it don't and I am happy about that. Considering this is the first time I ever lowered a truck, I am surprised with the outcome. Overall I am pleased with the purchase.

    Looks good, easy install.

These shackles level out the truck really nice. My truck is a 2wd so I want a more street truck look. I got them installed in just under two hours (due to my inexperience with working on trucks).

Not for the DIY weekend warrior

The instructions that come with the product are absolutely no help if you don't know what you're doing. They're also a catch-all for their entire product line, so you may as well throw them in the trash. I also had to tap the holes for the grease fittings since there were no female threads for the male end on the grease fitting (imagine that). Other than that, the installation wasn't too bad and the final product is quite satisfying.
