Review & Install Video
Hey, guys! Justin with AmericanMuscle.com here with my detailed review of the MBRP XP Series single side exit exhaust system fitting your 2015 and up 5.0 liter F-150. You should be checking out the XP Series from MBRP if you're looking to crank up the volume in your Coyote-powered F-150 using a full stainless steel system or prefer to keep that single side exit configuration and you don't wanna spend a whole bunch of money in the process to get all of these things.
When browsing the MBRP options for your F-150, I think you're gonna find a ton of different offerings, and that's something I really do like about the brand. Everything from dual-split rear exit, to dual-spit side exit, single side exit like this kit of course, different materials, different colors, different diameters. Basically, MBRP has something for every truck owner out there and every budget. It just basically comes down to what you're after and how much you wanna spend.
With all of that said, the MBRP systems are traditionally gonna fall on the more reasonable side of things when comparing other after market catbacks, and that is the case here with their XP Series. In fact, this is definitely gonna be one of your more affordable options for the single side exit systems at just around 400 bucks, which is very reasonable, given the whole stainless build. The XP Series will fall right in between MBRP's Installer Series on the lower end, which is their entry level or budget catback. And on the higher side, you're gonna be looking at the MBRP Pro Series, which is their top shelf option.
Now, the differences between these different series basically boils down to materials used. The XP Series, for instance, utilizes 409 grade stainless steel, which does actually make perfect sense in this case because 409 grade stainless is generally the middle of the road material when it comes to after market catbacks. If you have that aluminized steel, generally on the low side of the price range. And on the higher side, you're looking at that 304 grade stainless.
Breaking down the actual construction here with the XP Series, you're gonna find three-inch mandrel-bent tubing. Again, all 409 grade stainless steel. The single bullet style muffler and included resonator all exiting out a three-and-a-half inch polished tip embossed with that MBRP logo. Again, guys, I do want to point out this is their single side exit system. It's gonna exit just like your factory system right behind your passenger rear tire.
Guys, this is an exhaust after all, so let's get to the sound you can expect when you're using the XP Series. And as you heard with the sound clips at the very top of this video, this thing definitely delivers some pretty solid tone overall, a nice deep tone, and one that I think you will enjoy on your Coyote-powered F-150. Not the loudest or the craziest system out there, so for that, we'll call it a strong three out of five on my one to five "I won't awake the neighbors" scale, right in the middle of the road here. We did pick up a little bit of [inaudible 00:03:29] when cruising, but not a deal breaker, in my opinion.
Installing the new catback onto your F-150 really is a very straightforward job here, guys. Nothing too crazy. No surprises. So, for that we'll call it a simple one out of three wrenches on my overall scale of difficulty. Maybe a couple of hours in the garage or driveway. Now, MBRP does include this extension pipe here, guys, which basically allows this system to be used with any regular cab, super cab, or even super cruise with a few different bed sizes. So, you might have to cut, depending on your setup. MBRP does include some very detailed instructions where you need to cut, if at all. So, with that said, just make sure you have your saws all ready to go, if you do need to cut.
The single exit XP Series from MBRP is honestly a great value here, guys. You're getting a full stainless build for south of 500 bucks. And combine that with a great tone overall and great equipment, and overall you've got a great bang for your buck mod. So that's my review on the single exit XP Series from MBRP, which you can grab right here at AmericanMuscle.com.
Without the large muffler that Ford puts in as default, the MBRP XP Series 3 in. Single Side Exit Cat-Back Exhaust System improves the sound of your truck drastically. Instead, this exhaust system uses a bullet style muffler for a more menacing sound.
The MBRP XP Series 3 in. Single Side Exit Cat-Back Exhaust also improves the economy and power of your truck. The horsepower and torque that was impaired before is returned behind your rear wheels and fuel efficiency goes up with the use of this kit.
Stainless Steel with Polished Tips.
Stainless steel is an extremely strong metal and MBRP uses it to make the MBRP XP Series 3 in. Single Side Exit Cat-Back Exhaust durable. The exhaust tips are also made of stainless steel, although they are slant cut with a polished finish.
The MBRP XP Series 3 in. Single Side Exit Cat-Back Exhaust uses a simple bolt-on design so it is accessible even to truck owners who don’t have the time, skills, or resources for a professional installation. All you will need to do is bolt the exhaust system to the truck’s factory hangers and possibly trim the piping to fit.
This MBRP XP Series 3 in. Single Side Exit Cat-Back Exhaust is specifically designed to fit all cab and bed sizes available for the 2015 to 2017 F-150s powered by the 5.0L engine.
