    Justin: Hey, I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com and this is the Stage 2 Power Pack Bolt-On Build-Up for all 2007-2009 GT500s. This Power Pack is for the GT500 owners who have already taken care of some of the basic bolt-ons; your cold air intakes, your tunes, and are looking for more power out of your supercharged 5.4 liter. This entire pack is centered around a very popular supercharger mod that's going to increase our boost and therefore increase the horsepower on our GT500. However, just like anything else in the forced induction world, you can't just add more boost without addressing other key areas of your ride to ensure you're getting the most out of each mod, but more importantly to ensure the safety of your motor. So first, let's get to everybody's favorite topic, more boost. The first mod in our Power Pack consists of the Metco Motorsports 2.6 Inch Upper Pulley. Now a smaller pulley like the Metco here is always a very popular choice with supercharged applications because what it's going to allow you to do is spin that stock blower much faster, resulting in more boost. In fact, we should be looking at three to four pounds of additional boost compared to the stock three inch pulley. The Metco itself is a very nice piece and is actually very popular with other GT500 owners here on the site. In fact, if you want, you can just click on the link below to read up on some of the reviews. Now the design is a two piece design, so you have a hub that presses onto the blower shaft first, and then the actual pulley bolts to the hub using the included hardware. This is just basically going to make any future pulley swaps a complete piece of cake. I really can't wait to see what a few extra pounds of boost are going to do to our power number, and best of all, that factory Eaton blower should really be screaming. With the pulley out of the way, let's talk about some of those other supplementary mods that I told you guys about at the beginning of the Pack. Now again, you can't just bolt up a pulley and go without addressing some other areas. Case in point, that smaller pulley has now created some excess slack in our belt which basically our factory idler will not be able to keep up with. What this is going to result in is dreaded boost and power robbing belt slippage. Enter the Metco Double-Bearing Auxiliary Idler Pulley Kit which we also installed on our '08 here. Now this is going to take up the extra slack created by the smaller 2.6 inch pulley and just create plenty of belt wrap to prevent any belt slippage, and more importantly it's going to ensure that those boost levels stay rock solid all the way through the upper RPM range. On top of that, the double bearing construction will ensure a little bit more durability over time, it might actually be a little quieter, and for a few bucks more it's really a no brainer. Finally there's one more part to go over before we bring in Mike J from Bama to tweak the tune a little bit for us, and of course turn the rollers one more time. With that pulley in place, we're really going to be spinning our blower a lot faster than we were before which of course will lead to more boost meaning we had to address our spark plugs. So we installed the NGK TR6 Plugs which really are the go-to spark plug for any Shelby owner who is upping their boost. They're a one heat range colder plug compared to our stock plugs which will help avoid any possible detonation. An important note, just make sure they're gapped correctly before install to avoid any spark blowout. Definitely recommend doing these plugs or something similar whenever you really start cranking up the boost like we are here with the '08. Alright, well with all the new parts in place, we have Mike J from the Bama Performance Team in here working on the new tune for us for all increased boost that we're going to be seeing thanks to that smaller pulley. Now Mike, obviously the car's going to be seeing a lot more boost than we were before. How does that affect things on your end? Mike J: Well basically with the higher boost levels, we're going to be seeing right around 12 to 13 pounds. I've already gone ahead and made adjustments to the ignition timing tables to make sure that we're not going to see any detonation at all. I'm then basically just looking at air-fuel ratio to make sure we're in that sweet spot. Justin: Awesome man, I know those colder plugs should definitely help with that detonation too. Mike J: Absolutely. Justin: Very cool, man. Well if you're all finished up, I want you to hop on out of there because I think it's my turn. I get to hop in, do another pull, and see what the numbers are. [engine noise] At the end of the Stage 1 Power Pack featuring our 2008 GT500, the car was making 508 horsepower and 479 pound feet of torque at the rear wheels. With all the Stage 2 modifications in the Power Pack installed, we were now putting down 548 horsepower and 545 pound feet of torque making for a gain of 40 horsepower over our Stage 1 numbers, and gains of 66 horsepower and 71 pound feet of torque throughout the curve. The Stage 2 Power Pack with pulley and supporting mods is always a favorite of GT500 owners, and I think it's pretty easy to see why. Honestly, there's nothing that compares to swapping those upper pulleys and really cranking up the boost.     More Power. The Metco 2.6" Supercharger Pulley will add an additional 3-4 PSI of boost (compared to the stock 3" pulley) to your Shelby GT500 for even more tire shredding power.

    Two Piece Design. The Metco kit includes a hub that presses directly onto the blower shaft and a Pulley that bolts onto the hub using the supplied fasteners. This two-piece design makes subsequent pulley ring changes a snap.

    Superior Materials. CNC-machined from billet aluminum the Pulley is hard-coat anodized in black for impressive good looks and to resist surface wear. The hub is machined from high-grade steel and is nickel-plated for long lasting surface protection.

    Recommended Upgrade. To realize the full power potential that this pulley has to offer, AmericanMuscle recommends a Bama custom tune with a Mustang Handheld Tuner to reprogram the vehicles computer (ECU) for proper operation.

    Application. This Metco 2.6" Supercharger Pulley specifically designed for use on the 2007 to 2012 Shelby GT500 Mustangs equipped with the 5.4L Supercharged V8 engine.Technical Note. When this 2.6" Supercharger pulley is paired with Metco's MSI-90 auxiliary idler kit, the original factory supercharger belt can be retained with no belt slippage.

    when i install the 2.6 pully do i have to change spark plugs?

    • Depending on your spark plug now I would recommend upgrading the spark plugs when adding more boost with the Metco Motorsports Supercharger Pulley - 2.60 in. (07-12 GT500).

      GT500 Metco Motosports Supercharger Pulley

      Installed Metco Motorsports Auxiliary Idler Pulley w/ 2.6" SuperCharger Pulley. Looks great and works even better. Love them. Removed coolant hoses for better access. Changed coolant (had 29K on my '08 Shelby GT500). Also added Ford Performance Twin 65mm Throttle Body and Autolite Racing Spark Plugs. Already had AiRaid Coldair Intake and FlowMaster Axle Back Exhausts. Then Tuned it w/Bama Bluetooth iTSX and my iPad. I saw 14-15 psi boost in 3and4 gear. WOW!

      Great Power Adder

      This pulley was one of a few upgrades I did in an afternoon. The difference was like night and day! very noticeable horsepower and torque gains. Go with the VMP Ultimate Pulley tool. Well worth the money!

      GT500 Woken UP!

      I was happy with the performance of the stock GT500 but wanted enthusiastic! This 2.6 Metco pulley, as part of a stage 2 upgrade did wonders! Boost up to a solid13 PSI, easy install. For install, FOLLOW DIRECTIONS to the letter. Take your time removing old stock pulley and installing this new one. PROPER WRENCHES! Parts set out! It will be the difference in a good install!

      stuck puller

      Purchased the Metco 2.60 pulley and removal/install tool. well set all up per the instructions, pulley pop loud as stated. i keep wrenching till pulley was off the shaft. now the issue, i can not unthread the removal tool. it is very tight i guess bur the S/C shaft keeps turning. How can i stop the shaft from turning so i can remove the tool so i can install the new pulley.

      Take it to the shop!

      To start, IT IS NOT EASY TO DO A PULLEY SWAP!!! Do not be misled. Even with the removal tool it took HOURS and resulted in some damage to my Supercharger. That being said go to the shop and save yourself the headache. I had this put on along with a 65mm Cobra Jet and a JLT 127mm CAI. Tuned with my Bama and took it out for a spin. The car is unbelievable! I cannot fathom why Shelby left all this untapped power on the table! It's like night and day! I am literally pushed back into my seat without boost! When I hit it, I get 13-14 psi on demand. It scared me when I felt the acceleration! Its incredible. 10 out of 5 stars! Next up 3.73s!

      Awesome part

      Purchase this Metco pulley and also the tensioner had them installed and retuned the car it made a huge increase in power I would recommend these parts for any Shelby owner worth the money and RWHP gains.

      Definite performance boost GT500 2008

      Larry Day Performance Shop in Woodstock installed the Metco 2.6 and Auxillary idler pulley on my 2008 GT 500. Along with other bolt on mods the dynatune completed the upgrade. Very pleased !

      WOW !

      I installed the Metco 2.6 Inch pulley on my 2009 GT500 along with the Ford Racing 65mm throttle body and the tune on my JLT Tuner last week . All I can say is WOW ! These items along with the JLT cold air unit which was already installed , turned my quick GT500 into a real tire spinning , fire breathing , neck snapping , top end MONSTER !

      A must have and easy install

      This is a must have to give added boost. I'm pushing 15psi after install along with Cobra Jet Throttle Body and JLT CAI. Must use install/removal tool referenced in the ad. It's worth the money.

      This pulley looks great and works great I installed with exhaust, cold air, 65mm throttle body and jms throttle response delay eliminater. and the Shelby just pulls and pulls and pulls. So detail on one mod is tuff but I'm a very happy costumer!

      very nice boost in rwhp

      Purchased this pulley and tensioner for my 2011 Shelby GT Convertible, as well as off road x pipe and sct tuner. Had a local mustang shop, that also does a ton of dyno work, install these items today. Wow what a difference!!!! When all was said and done(fine tuned) it made 583.52 rwhp with 581 ft lb torque!!!! Needless to say I am very pleased. At the advice of the mustang shop owner I did keep the factory gt 500 mufflers on the car. Again I am very pleased. Very nice growl now. Not obnoxious but definitely will get you noticed but quiet as stock at cruising speed and not a drop of drone!!! And the blower whine is noticeably louder!! Bonus Bonus!!!!!! I guess the next step is the lower balancer/pulley......should put it over the 600 rwhp mark......then of course we are gonna want 700 rwhp......!!!

      Worth the money

      If you plan to do this install yourself, save the time and order the install tool at the same time. This reduced pulley definitely helps the car be more lively along with the tune (not required but I'm sure to see the most out of the performance of this pulley it is required) the car is definitely more powerful.

      09 GT500 Supercharger 2.60 Pulley

      Sure like the extra boost I got over the factory pulley. Recommend buying the Pulley Puller, took my Ford dealer 3 hours to install without the puller. Must have for sure.

      2.60in Pulley

      This Metco pulley was easy to install. The performance gain was exactly as advertized with a gain of 4 PSIs of boost. The whining on the supercharger is noticeable of course is combined with the Big JLT CAI. Installation was under an hour with an extra set of hands. I will recommend this product to all owners of Shelbys 2012 and earlier.

      Pulley performance

      I like this product because it allows the whine from the supercharger to come through. It took my Ford dealer 4 hours to install. You can definitely feel the increases in power!

      Power gain and great sound

      Combine with JLT 127mm air intake kit the sound is GREAT, now i can listen the great sound of the supercharger!
