    Review & Install Video

Hey, Stephanie with, and this is my review of the Mishimoto Intercooler and Piping Kit for the 2015 and up EcoBoost Mustang. This intercooler kit is going to be for the EcoBoost owner looking to bring down those intake air temps, as well as those guys that are looking to run more boost. So if I split this kit into two parts and look at the intercooler first, I can tell right away that it's larger than the factory one, all the way around, and that's one of the factors that's going to give you those cooler temps. This intercooler has a larger core and more fin surface area, and if we compare this to the factory front mount, the Mishi core is about one inch taller, two inches thicker, and one inch longer. The other part of this kit is the piping, which is also an upgrade over the factory piping and a pretty big contributor to the cooler intake air temps and air delivery, especially if you're interested in running more boost. The Mishi kit comes with aluminum piping that's 2 1/2 inches for the hot charge pipe, and 2.75 inches for the rest of the cold side pipe. Another thing that's nice about this piping is that Mishi was able to make it direct, and of course, they give a flange right here for the stock, or a stock-like bypass valve, so you don't have to worry about changing your bypass valve if you want this kit. Another cool thing here is that Mishimoto offers this kit with either a powder-coated black intercooler or a silver one, depending on if you want to be stealthy or if you want to make the front mount more obvious. They also give you these nice T-bolt clamps, which are going to be able to hold more boost, so you don't have to worry about blowing your couplers off if you do up your boost game. As far as price, this kit is right in between $850 and $950 so either way under 1000 bucks for a kit that can greatly benefit either a stock EcoBoost or one that has some mods already. This intercooler also gives you room to grow, so if you're planning on getting crazy with mods later on, it can still keep up with you. For the install, I'm going to call this a one-wrench install because it's really not difficult. If you don't have a lift, it could be a little bit harder because you will be pulling the intercooler out from below the car, but it isn't impossible to do on stands. You do have to pop off the front bumper cover, the grills, and pull the bottom dust cover off, but this is all easy stuff. I'd say two hours for time for this one. Wrapping things up here, upgrading your stock intercooler and piping allows more horsepower through cooler air temps, and if you're looking to reap some of the benefits that this kit offers, or you want to tap into some of that higher boost capability that the EcoBoost has, then you can check this kit out more online for yourself. I'm Stephanie, and I'll see you here at

Reduce Heat For More Power. Mishimoto's EcoBoost intercooler is larger than stock with a 58% increase in core size, 25% increase in internal core volume and 165% increase in external fin surface area, all to reduce Air Intake Temperatures (AIT) by up to 35°F. The included Mishimoto piping replaces the weak stock rubber hot-side and the restrictive cold-side piping with mandrel-bent aluminum tubing to increase air flow. Together this Mishimoto intercooler and piping kit will improve the performance of your EcoBoost Mustang.

Intercooler. Manufactured from 100% 6061 aluminum for it's ability to quickly dissipate unwanted heat ensuring lower intake temperatures, this Mishimoto Performance Intercooler features a bar and plate design with cast end tanks and an in-tank diverter to provide optimal flow. The intercooler is completed in a black powder coated finish for long lasting corrosion protection and impressive good looks.

Piping. Manufactured from mandrel-bent aluminum tubing (2.5" hot-side, 2.75" cold-side) to eliminate restrictive bends, the hot-side pipe features a CNC-machined By-pass Valve flange that allows for installation of a stock or stock-style BPV. The cold-side pipe is pre-marked for easy installation of a boost gauge or methanol injection. The intercooler piping is completed in a bright polished finish for great show car looks and long lasting corrosion resistance

Application. This Mishimoto Performance Black Intercooler with Polished Piping is specially designed to fit the 2015-2019 EcoBoost Mustang's equipped with the turbocharged 2.3L Inline 4-cylinder engine.

Can you use the aftermarket BOVs with this set up such as Tial sport?

    • Hello! The Mishimoto Black Intercooler Kit will only work with Stock, or Stock Style Blow Off Valves.

This shortie kompact BOV - I'm reading that this may not work in tandem do to different connectors. This is best reviewed intercooler seems ridiculous it can't work with a BOV. What do I need to connect them?

    • The piping included with the Mishimoto Black Intercooler Kit is designed to accept the OEM Bypass valve, or any othe r blow off or bypass valve utilizing the same flange. A new pipe with the correct flange for the Kompact Blow off valve would be required to install.

Does this intercooler and piping work with a Turbosmart Kompact Shortie Dual Port Blow Off Valve?

    • Although the intercooler and Blow off valve work hand-in-hand with the turbo, they are two separate components that do not correspond directly with one another in regards to putting them together. With that being said, you are able to use this intercooler set-up with your Turbosmart BOV.

Might it be best to by the piping separate since I am considering buying a BOV?

    • Depending on the mounting style of the blow off valve, it may be beneficial to purchase separate piping with the correct style mount. If the blow off valve uses the factory-style flange mount, we would recommend this Mishimoto Black Intercooler Kit w/ Polished Piping for a plug and play installation.

      Loving It!

The engine bay looks so much better! it is also nice to know that the terrible factory plastic piping is gone! Had it dealer installed and only issue was slight rubbing that was fixed by adjusting the angle of the placing of the pipe. Overall the car feels much better and no longer heat soaks after 3 pulls.

      Great bolt on up grade

The hardest part of the whole install was removing the front bumper cover. I was very impressed with how well this fit my car, although you really cant see the intercooler, you can see everything else and it looks great, fits great, and performs great
