- How to Install Wheels on Your 1979-2013 Mustang
Hey everyone, I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com. This is my breakdown of the MMD Kage Wheel fitting 2005 to 2014 Mustangs. The Kage is another wheel offering from industry leading brand, MMD. Now, MMD's goal is to separate your ride from the rest using their massive selection of unique styling accessories, which now includes wheels, designed specifically for your Mustang. Now, if you guys want to keep tabs on more cool MMD products, including some future project car builds, you should know what to do by now. Click on that link below to subscribe to our YouTube channel, if you haven't done so already. While you're there, leave us a comment and let us know how we're dong.So MMD took a can't miss approach while designing the Kage. They said, "We're gonna give it a simple yet timeless five spoke wheel design. We're gonna paint that face black and then we're gonna give it this massive lip." The end result is what you see here in front of me. A very aggressive wheel that is sure to look great on any color S1-97, as you can see with some of our shop cars behind me. Sizing-wise, the Kage wheels are offered in both an 18 and 19 inch diameter and a width from eight and a half to 10 inches. Now, of course, you can put the wider wheel and tire in the rear, which will give you that staggered fitment that most Mustang owners prefer. On the other hand, if that's not exactly the look you're going for and you would like to be able to rotate those tires properly in the future, well, then you might want to put the same width wheel and tire on all four corners, which is otherwise known as a square or standard fitment. Now, to give you a better idea of some of the fitment options here on some of our shop cars, well, we're looking at the staggered 19s on the 2014 GT immediately behind me. Our 2007 GT back there on the lift is rocking the standard 18s, while finally our 2005 V6 back there on the Dynojet is rocking the Kage in standards 19s.Whenever you purchase a new set of wheels from AmericanMuscle.com, you do have a couple of different options. Of course, you can grab the wheels by themselves if you'd like, but then you have to buy tires, get them mounted and balanced, all of which can be a little bit of a pain. So to alleviate some headaches and to save you a little bit of work, AmericanMuscle.com has assembled a few pre-built tire and wheel combinations, where we pair your new MMD wheels up with some of the top tires on the market today, like the Mickey Thompson Street Comp tire, here on our '14. On top of that, we take care of all of the work for you. We mount them and balance them. We install your optional TPMS sensors. Then, on top of that, we ship them to your door absolutely free. Now, if you guys want to learn more about some of these pre-built tire and wheel combinations, including picking up those optional TPMS sensors, or picking up some new lug nuts, just click the link below to head back to the product page, if you're not there already. Installing a new set of wheels and tires onto your Mustang is definitely one of those easier mods to tackle. You will want to first crack the lugs loose before you jack the car up. Once the car is in the air, swap out all four wheels and tires, tighten up those lugs and you should be good to go in about an hour's time from start to finish. Now, if you guys do have any more questions about the install or about the actual MMD wheels themselves and I have not answered them for you, do not hesitate to reach out to one of our Mustang experts who are always standing by ready to hand you that virtual wrench in your time of need. So if you are a big fan of a simple five spoke wheel design with a massive lip, then you are gonna want to check out the MMD Kage wheel, exclusively on AmericanMuscle.com.
