    Review & Install Video

Hey guys, Alex with americanmuscle.com, bringing you my quick review and installation of MMD's Coolant Overflow Tank Cover in texture black featuring Mustang lettering, fitting your 2015 through 2017 Mustang. So MMD's Coolant Overflow Tank Cover that we're taking a quick look at today is gonna be a great option for any S550 owner out there that's looking for a relatively inexpensive, but premium tank cover, that's going to clean up your engine bay very nicely, as well as installing in minutes. So this should appeal to any Mustang owner out there that's beginning to dabble in under-hood accessories, but for someone that doesn't really want to spend big bucks on an actual expansion tank, and wants something that's going to be a little bit stealthier and subdued in comparison to an aluminum look. But before I get a little bit too ahead of myself here guys, a great thing about this cover is that it's going to install in minutes. For that, I'll be giving this a very easy one out of three wrenches on our difficultly meter here, and about a ten-minute job only with a pair of pliers and a ratchet, and I'm gonna show you how coming up soon. But being said MMD's gonna have this officially licensed Ford product manufactured out of a very durable but tough ABS plastic material. Now, despite its weight, I gotta tell you, it is definitely on the durable side. Now I will throw it out there that this is going to be on the thinner side. We've received some feedback from our customers, that it is a little bit lightweight, but it's merely just so that the fact that you can get this over your existing tank, and not have to do any type of crazy installation. And in terms of the finish, we're going to be looking at a textured matte black, as well as featuring the Mustang logo here. However, if you did want to take it a step further, and customize it, you can absolutely have this color matched to any other bits in your engine compartment. Pricing-wise here you should expect to be spending a hundred bucks to get into this, which I honestly think is fair, considering that it is officially licensed by Ford. It's going to clean up the engine bay very nicely as well as installing in minutes. And on the flip side guys, it goes without saying, that this is going to be considerably less than a full-fledged expansion tank. However, we do have an option from California Pony Cars, which will run about fifty bucks less, however, it will not have the Mustang logo up front. And switching gears to that installation, or lack thereof, like I said a little bit earlier, you're looking at a very straightforward one out of three wrenches on our difficultly meter here, and about a ten-minute job. And some things I'd make sure to have on hand here, like I said again, only going to be a set of pliers and a ratchet, but you're going to want to begin by pulling your two coolant lines from the tank. I would just make sure to have some paper towels or just a shop rag underneath because a little bit's going to come out. So after that, it's more or less going to be removing the two bolts that are going to be holding the coolant reservoir to the fan shroud, removing your cap, slipping this over, reconnecting your lines, bolting everything down, and you're good to go. So that's going to conclude the installation segment and my review of MMD's Coolant Overflow Tank Cover in textured black featuring Mustang lettering fitting all 2015 through 2017 Mustangs available right here at americanmuscle.com.

Under Hood Styling. When you pop up the hood on a S550 Mustang, the one eyesore that sticks out is the factory coolant tank. If you’re looking for a convenient way to cover up the “football” or “grenade” without replacing the entire tank, then Modern Muscle Design (MMD) has the perfect solution with their Coolant Overflow Tank Cover. Featuring Mustang lettering, this textured matte black cover ties in perfectly with the other OEM covers to give your engine bay a more complete look in a matter of minutes.

Durable ABS Material. MMD constructs this Coolant Overflow Tank Cover from a durable acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) material. It’s completed in an OEM style texture matte black finish for great looks. It also can be painted to match any color for a more customized appearance.

Easy Installation. Installation of this Coolant Overflow Tank Cover is quick and simple with no modifications required. MMD designed this tank cover to fit over the stock coolant reservoir and re-uses the factory reservoir cap. You'll need to disconnect both coolant lines temporally for installation. The cover is held down with the factory hardware.

Officially Licensed by Ford. This MMD Coolant Overflow Tank Cover is officially licensed by Ford and features the modern "MUSTANG" text in block lettering on top of the tank.

Application. This textured matte black Modern Muscle Design Coolant Overflow Tank Cover is specifically designed to fit over the stock coolant reservoir on all 2015 to 2019 Mustangs including V6, EcoBoost, GT and Shelby GT350 models.

I had purchased the Modern Billet Chrome Tri-Bar Logo Cap from American Muscle for the coolant overflow tank and was wondering will this tank cover work with this chrome cap since the chrome cap does not sit the same as the plastic stock cap. I have not purchased this tank cover as of yet depending if this combination will work.

    • This cover will work with the Modern Billet Chrome Tri-Bar Logo Cap. Here is an example of it on a customer's vehicle (https://www.americanmuscle.com/mmd-coolant-overflow-tank-cover-mustang-1516.html#customer_pics-0)

Can you use the Tri-Bar Modern Billet Chrome cap cover that you sell with this Overflow Tank Cover or just the factory cap? I noticed in the write up that it mentions the factory cap being used.

    • The MMD Coolant Overflow Tank Cover w/ Mustang Lettering can be used with the Tri-Bar Modern Billet Chrome cap cover.

How do you check the coolant level?

    • There should still be markings on the sides of the tank that the MMD Coolant Overflow Tank Cover w/ Mustang Lettering - Textured Matte Black (15-17 All) will not cover up. The cover is also removable if needed.

Better than expected , And installation was so quick and easy ' that I thought I must have missed something . Little expensive , but after it is installed , very cool !

      MMD Coolant tank cover

The coolant tank cover looks good. That being said. Its cost to value is way off base. Its just cheap thin plastic, not even close to the $80 it cost. Spend the extra cash and get an actual tank.

      Overpriced.

In case anyone’s wondering: IT IS PLASTIC. NOT METAL. It looks great but I’m disappointed it’s only a cheap flimsy piece of plastic. If it was metal, it would be worth $100.

      MMD Coolant Tank Cover

Quality product and design. It does a great job of making the ugly coolant tank disappear and cleans up the engine bay nicely for my show pony. I like the “Mustang” across the top and the color and texture fits well with the stock plastic parts.

      Very thin material

It has a good design but very flimsy for the price. This product while looks nice, it does not really show value of its asking price. It’s a very over priced product

      Not worth the money

This product is super thin and flimsy. Feels like a jello mold in your hands. The fit is good and looks good under the hood but I feel this product is grossly overpriced.

      Coolant reservoir cover

This really dresses up the ugly OEM coolant cover. I’m knocking off one star because it is made of the thinnest plastic that’s possible to mold. I mean it’s not much thicker than paper poster board. I had to add a hole to mount because of the offset mounting bracket that was needed to install Pmass CAI.

      Fits fine, easy install

I put it on when I installed some other underhood dress-up items. Pretty easy to do. I do wish it these types of products came equipped with rubber or silicone tabs so they won't vibrate or 'click' when you tap on them. Overall, exactly as advertised and a 100 improvement of the look of that coolant bottle.

      Looks good, quality sucks.

When I recieved the tank cover, it had a crack on the back side, from shipping most likely. I’m not surprised after seeing just how flimsy the cover is. Definitely not worth the $100 for this! I ended up repairing the crack myself and installed it anyway, because I didn’t want to waste my time returning this just to get another one. It does look very nice when installed. However, I wish I would of listened to the other reviews and just spent a little extra for a better cover or entire coolant tank.
