  • Eliminates Need for Silicone
  • Fits MT-82 Manual Transmissions

No More Mess. Upgrading the shifter in your MT-82 transmission and don't like the idea of messy RTV silicone or gasket maker? You'll reduce the chances of having a stuck bolt or and eliminate the possibility of getting silicone into your transmission by buying this SR Performance Shifter Base Gasket. It's a smart investment to protect your transmission and it makes shifter install easy.

Eliminates Noise & Vibration. If you use silicone to install your shifter, you can get unnecessary noise and vibration. Using a gasket will reduce the amount of vibrations coming through your transmission into your shifter. Plus, it can eliminate the possibility of metal-on-metal contact if you don't get a complete, thick, evenly distributed layer of silicone. And let's face it - who has time for that?

Easier Removal. Using a shifter base gasket is a smart choice when you have to service your transmission, too. Trying to get your shifter off to get into your turret is a headache if it's on there with silicone. With a gasket it's easy to remove and even reuse when re-installing your shifter.

Application. This SR Performance Shifter Base Gasket is designed for use on the MT-82 manual transmissions, including 2011-2014 V6, GT and BOSS models.

The gasket fit like it should. Installation was pretty straightforward. Would recommend this when installing a compatible short shifter.

Will this gasket work with the Ford Racing shifter for the MT-82 I am thinking of ordering the Ford Racing shifter for the MT-82 to fit on my 2012 Boss. Will this gasket work with this shifter?

Gunzo61

  • Yes, it will fit with the Ford racing shifter. From what I have read it is the pretty much a rebranded version of the Barton shifter. In other words it is a Barton shifter with the Ford Racing name on it. I installed this gasket with the Barton shifter and if fit perfectly.

    Didn't need it

Bought the Barton short shifter and paid extra for this recommended gasket. However, the shifter came with a new gasket. Overall the product is well made and thicker than the Barton, but didn't need it.

Bought this in conjunction with a Ford Racing short throw shifter. This gasket is noticeably thicker and better quality. I'd say it's about 5mm in thickness, and about 2mm thicker than the one supplied in the shift kit. Overall, a nice subtle touch and a bit of sound dampening. Plus, no messing with silicone or gasket sealants.

    Gasket is great.

This gasket is much better than the stock shifter gasket and thicker than the one that came with my new shifter.

    Excellent upgrade

Was having big issues with 2nd and 3rd gears when under WOT. That issue is gone. Good positive shifting. Install wasn't too hard, took about an hour. Well worth it.

    Works as expected!

This is definitely thicker than the stock gasket and seems to be made of a durable compound. The fitment is a direct match.

    Worked As Advertised

I decided to try this Shifter Base Gasket after reading the description on AM. Although there was no mention of using a gasket or silicone, in the printed instructions included with the Barton Short-Shifter or videos on their website, using a gasket seemed logical and if it reduced noise and vibratioin it wasn't much to pay. It fit perfectly and was easy to install. Not sure if it reduces noise since I didn't try the shifter without it but I don't hear any additional noise and there is no increased vibration even though I installed the two post Barton transmission bracket as well.

    shifter gasket

This shifter gasket will replace the paper thin one installed by the factory and is well worth it if you are installing a short throw shifter.Keeps everything tight and clean.

save your money or use RTV

The gasket fit fine, and is of good quality, however I would not replace it next time because the original was in great shape and the gasket is just to keep the dirt out not oil in. RTV is way cheaper!

    Great Item

Very easy to install. No messy silicon to deal with. Material seals and isolates the base of the shifter from the transmission case, decreasing noise and vibration. Great product!

    Best $20 upgrade!

I have a Barton short throw shifter with the Barton two post bracket. (If you have the stock set up, buy an aftermarket shifter and bracket ASAP) This shifter seemed to let more noise in than stock. Either I didn't get a great seal, or just how it is. This base gasket dranaticly reduced the noise that comes into the cabin! Easy to install and $20!!!

    Quality replacement

Replaced my shifter with a Barton short-throw (which did not come with a new gasket) and installed this with it. Does a decent job of reducing noise, but you will definitely still notice increased noise as a result of the shifter design.

    SR Shifter Base Gasket

*Installed with FRPP shifter* A lot of customers have complained about increased NVH with the FRPP shifter so I ordered this gasket to go along with it. I think there is less NVH now. If you are changing shifters GET THIS PART!
